I know this will sound dumb, but does he do anything when silenced? I've never seen him attack.Originally Posted by Max™

You may be thinking of Nho'Mo Crimsonarmor, who pretty much just spams magic. I've never seen him silenced, not even by Adelheid's spell tubes.Originally Posted by Cydewinder
Yeah, that's what I meant, lol. Don't believe I've ever seen anyone try to silence him.
After a few days of trying it out BLU/RDM
I hate campaign...

Maybe Blu/Rdm just isn't a good combination for it?
Blu/Nin for AoE?
Blu/War to bloodtank shit?
Blu/Whm for Reraise?
Blu/Rdm for another Stoneskin and Phalanx on top of the ones you have? Yay?

Anyway palin, flip the job around and go RDM/BLU, if you blood tank everything while taking 0 damage like I do, you'll get 2500-3100 exp per decent sized campaign.

1600 more of those and he'll be as useful and informative as you.
Wafik, a RDM in my LS does that and he raves about Campaign. He says nothing but good things about campaign.
I dont know if i am doing somethign completely wrong. I find it hard to believe if I was. on BLU/RDM I ended up tanking most everything I would fight and with cocoon and phalanx, deaths were only limited to when a NM decided to randomly link to me or absolutely no one else healed (extremely common and particularly frustrating). Lacking a refresh, I tend to run out of MP fairly quickly.
But yeah, I read a lot on here about people raving about campaign. Combine that with this RDM in my LS preaching campaign is the second coming of FFXI great things. I am just left particularly underwhelmed.
I will try the RDM/BLU thing, its an awesome combo outside of campaign anyways. Will I get penalized when other people come and whack on my mob? Also, any suggestions for holding hate? Also is headbutting a bad idea, im assuming you WANT to get hit.
Also I read that campaign helps with rank evaluation from campaign ops. Like for higher ranks you have to generate X ammount of Alied Notes to advance. And Campaign is your supplemental source of AN for rank up. I certainly hope this isnt the case.

As for RDM/BLU, what you should do is wear as much defensive gear as possible (I use 4/5 crimson and chapeau in the last slot), use some cheapy defense food like fishkabob, then buff myself with Phalanx/Pro4/Ice Spikes(saves you from casting para)/Refresh/Haste/Enspell/Stoneskin(not important to keep up constantly, only if it's a harder mob). Also keep on mandau/Genbu shield for extra -10% dmg taken, if you got a d.ring stick that on too. Joytoy is a fine replacement for mandau, sometimes on quadavs I just stick a kraken club on since quadav tickle at most. Remember to keep Bio2 and slow1/2 on the mob to keep it going at a fine non-overwhelming pace.
Then what I find is best is going to a busier campaign, and getting 1 monster that's on the pack, and pulling it away. It's fine if other people want to join in on your mob, because what you then do is let them take hate and find another monster to fight, just keep doing it like that.
Usually when you take a monster to 60% by yourself without taking much damage, it's glued to you, so anyone who comes and joins in won't be taking points away from you really, as you're still being smacked on. I don't see why head butt won't be good, I use headbutt as rdm/blu if I just want it to stop so I can cocoon(i get interrupted a lot on that one).
As RDM/BLU often I'lll diaga a whole tower and just hold it on the spot with 4 or so mobs hitting me, but those are only for lower teired monsters, higher teir you'd probably want to just deal with 2 at most. High shield skill procs a ton on those.
Also high points come from being in there for a while, the one that gave me 3000 points was a 40min or so one with multiple waves.
I don't bother healing other people if I am there to tank, however if I'm not holding hate then I'd be silly to not heal , so whoever takes hate i'll throw a haste and some cures their way while I find another mob to plink.
I comfortably get capped XP every campaign on RDM/WHM. With no special solo gear I can tank anything but some NMs. Don't see what the big deal about special gear is unless its stuff you already have. Plus, RR is a big plus.
The special gear lets you tank NMs. PLD NMs are easy, monks are so-so depending how hard they hit for. I watched Wojnoj or whatever his name is wipe almost everyone, then when they were all down I held/tanked him untill people could get themselves up and unweak, so they could come back and get AOE'd to death againOriginally Posted by Ryushii

Defense sets help fight Quadav NMs. Wrath of Ghu'Dha does a ton of damage to most people, but since it's physical, it does 0-90 damage to me with me def set. etc etc
On Yagudo, I'll frequently go RDM/BLM. Many of them like to spam TP constantly- Swiftblade was just spraying me with Feather Storm and alternating Howls and Parries as I had him Gravity-bound...which was shredding through my defenses respectably, but I had 4 Mithra smacking him in the back while I did it so he went down before I had trouble.
One tactic I've found that works if you dare is E-seal/Sleepgaing a pack of monsters in mid-battle that aren't claimed and yoinking them towards the fortifications, if they're too far from the main body of defenders. You'll likely die, but it's worth a decent exp bonus for a lower level mage. If you have a partner who can Stoneskin you, you'll actually get a fair distance before dying. On a can't-win in Crawler's, I managed to nap 8 Quadav and then died afterwards...which was just under 240xp at 43rd (figure in that 40% penalty for level difference and that's a 400xp single-shot for a 61+ level player.) It also means a single Esealed SLeepga is worth about 50xp.

Well, if you noticed I wasn't just given a meme, but suggesting he provide info on his strategies, so we could see why they aren't working out.

no
Why the hell didn't I think of RDM/BLU :rocl: I used to rock that all the time soloing Eldieme escort. I feel like a moron now.

Strange thing happened tome last night in Campaign, I thought I would share it in case anyone know why. I don't have any screenshots (yeah, I know) since I just switched to xbox and don't know how to get pics of text boxes, if that's even possible.
Anyhow, I was on 67 PLD fighting an orc when, lo and behold, Alpha Gnole Anders came out of nowhere with his guards and started beating on me. I switch to Anders, but nobody else did, so there I was, all alone, fighting these three gnoles by myself. They pretty quickly pounded me down to about 400 hp, and I was looking around for an empty grave I could use.
That's when the weird part happened: I countered Anders. Now, I was on 67 PLD/33 WAR. I wasn't wearing anything weird or earing any weird food or anything like that. As far as I know, there shouldn't be any way I could counter. But when I got down into the red, man, suddenly I started countering like a mutha. Thanks to counter I held on for probably 90 more seconds, in the process countering roughly 25 out of 35 attacks in the process, including several times when I countered 4 or 5 in a row.
None of the people I spoke with in game had any ideas why this would have happened. It was pretty cool, though. Was this some sort of glitch, or is there something really obvious I'm missing? If there's some way to replicate this, I'm all for it.
