Assuming that the moon phase is the same across servers, it was new moon on carby last night, perhaps he gives a counter effect during new moon?
The fact that we both thought this, and SE is a bunch of whacked out bastards, makes it pretty likely really.Originally Posted by Max™

He said that HE was countering Anders's attacks.Originally Posted by Kyreth
As in.
Alpha Gnole Anders's attack is countered by Vhess.
Alpha Gnole Anders takes 36 points of damage.
I know back in the first week of WotG, one of my LS mates said that he had been granted Haste from one of the Gnoles in Eldieme, when it used... I think Call of the Moon.
No idea what the moon phase was, and it's the only time I've really heard about it, but is it possible that either Call of the Moon (or any other TP move they use) in general or specifically when Anders uses it, gives buffs to players as well as/instead of mobs?
It's definitely Anders and not any Moonfang warriors that will buff you. I believe you get Haste and Counterstance, that last maybe a minute. The Counterstance you get doesn't lower your defense either I believe. I'm not sure what triggers you to get the buff, could be a glitch, could be like a moblin shooting paralysis shower in his own face.
For some odd reason, I've been on Conquerer's hate list and ended up getting to be able to counter myself...much like what's described there, after he used Orcish Counterstance. Surprised me as an RDM/BLM and all, honestly thought that's what the ability did. (One Battle Dance later and I made sure I was VERY far away from him in the future.)Originally Posted by Max™
Not only do you definitely get Counterstance from Anders, you get a potent one. I'm fairly sure it's given by his using Cacophony. In one battle I was able to tank him on my Blu/whm from like 30% to death just by countering something like 80% of his attacks.
Is it at all possible the buffs come from high ranks with Sigil? I specifically remember the NPC stating the buffs you get from Sigil changing as your rank increased. I noticed as I ranked up I stopped losing TP when resting. Maybe higher sigil (not sure what rank) grants Counterstance when in low HP?
it's possible, but sigil always gives signet buffs (including no TP loss while resting) by default.Originally Posted by Jeicen
Someone would have noticed this long ago if that were the case: an 80% proc rate doesn't just go away for all mobs but one. It was definately something done by this specific mob that caused this.Originally Posted by Jeicen
Last star rank and I've noticed the counterstance thing from the getgo.
First noticed it at my very first rank, at Vunkerl Inlet vs a Gnole and Orc siege. Very WTF moment, but I doubt it's a rank bonus. All signs point to Gnoles :bagel:
Got Copper Emblem of Service today, no new Ops, but new 60-note temp items.
An Elixer, Daedalus wing, a Bottle of Body Boost, and a Bottle of Mana Boost.
This happend to me as well and it was only when i got hate from alpha gnole. definitely counterstance though as it shows up on my buff icons
The Mana Boost is quite Nice. Went from 740ish to 1100 or so. I'll assume that the Body Boost is about the same.
This is with the Copper Emblem (Rank 9)

Yea you get Counterstance from Alpha when he uses Cacaphony.Originally Posted by Deftscythe

I'm not sure if it's been posted yet, but I haven't come across it. The dat text seems to give some insight into how a campaign battle plays out:

I am SO not looking forward to fighting in that maze inside Castle Zvahl. And the Throne Room is a battle zone, too?
