refreshing the tags nets you more total exp?so you'll probably want to refresh your tags more often, maybe every wave if you're at a higher rank.

If you reach the cap for your actions, and the per minute cap is already reached, yes you will get more.Originally Posted by IncredibleGulk

Referring to me?Run up to a pack of mobs, -ga them, run around aimlessly as though there was anything anyone could do to save you, and then die next to someone who won't be able to handle all the shit that links to them. Then reraise up, don't bother about raising the person you just MPKed, and repeat.I don't think I MPKed people as BLM lately.
Anyway I am a proponent of ga3 everything as BLM.
1. Die somewhere alone.
2. Ga mob crowds that don't include NMs. W/e you hit, don't hit those. And avoid stuff like Shadow Voids.
3. Always make sure you have full buffs before ga-ing.
4. Aim for Sleepga after.
5. Always /whm
6. If you are alone and there are NPC, you can help them by sleepga-ing the bulk of them.
7. Or if there are too many NPC and you want more points (for everyone as well), sleepga everything except the NM before they reach the tower.
If you can ga3 around 4-5 mobs 3x w/o dying, you can then safely die and know that you have loads of points, mostly capped.
Good mobs to ga3:
Yagudo Liturgists (BLM)
Yagudo Inspirers (BRD)
Alternatively, whip out your staff/pole and get spirit taker for mp. With Aspir and Spirit Taker, you can probably get close to cap if not cap.
I was referring to a different BLM who MPKed Harp and me the other day in Pashhow, actually.Originally Posted by tymora
What you do, as you described it above, while it may not be particularly useful to the fight, at least isn't harmful to the other people's battles. I suppose it's the difference between -ga3ing everything and dying somewhere controlled, and -ga3ing and thinking there is anything anyone can do to save you.
I still think my suggestion is better, because due to the time cap and the ability to refresh your tags, you can get max exp/hr if you just know how frequently to visit the NPC.
Although when they invariably un-nerf campaign fights next version update, I would like to try your 3BLMs -ga+sleepga while a few melee kill the unsleepable NM idea.
Um...I don't understand this, please explain. Why would turning in your tags increase your per minute cap? The same time goes by (actually less if you include the lag in between turning in the tags and getting new ones) either way. So you could just spam barspells for 150xp, then spam more bar spells for the 300xp cap, no?Originally Posted by Max™
Check out the Exp/AN earned thread below. Specific classes of actions have caps on the amount of points earned. If all you do in Campaign is spam barspells, you are going to get 150 exp whether you have the same tags for 2 minutes or 2 hours. However if you cast 150exp worth of barspells, get new tags after 2 minutes, spam 150exp worth of barspells, get new tags after 2 minutes, etc, you will be getting 150exp each time, and as such approach your medal-based exp/hour cap approximating what a person with the same highest medal who does something useful can get over the same period of time.Originally Posted by Ryushii
I haven't campaigned in a while since I started levelling DNC sub, and so haven't witnessed this myself, but according to some people in my LS the RMT have figured this out as well, and now some zones have groups of /anon players standing by the NPC spamming barspells for campaign lol
On Midgar we have two people who do that. A Galka named Ant and a hume female named... um... Nastie or something like that. They do some kind of mage/BRD and spam songs and bars, and turn in tags on a regular basis. Always in Jugner, on that hill across the path. Annoying.Originally Posted by Suiram
No clue if they're RMT or not, but I'd guess not since it's just two.
Way more annoying than the people who run halfway across the map with a single mob that takes them 15 minutes to kill, or SMN/NINs who barely outpace Dia II in terms of damage while giving TP from both of their clubs and a carbuncle, or the PLDs who melee and refuse to tank, or the WHMs who melee with like NQ darksteel clubs and don't heal or raise anyone.Originally Posted by ThistleChaser

We can only hope that additional campaign areas will seperate the wheat from the chaff. Right now it's Besieged all over without the skillup leechers. Hopefully harder campaign areas will give us something that requires at least a little bit of skill, while the morons can have their type of fun in camping Jugner campaign.
I'm not sure why people expect mages to raise anyone.Originally Posted by Priran

Dia, 7 MP, 10 XP reward.
I'll only raise close friends during an attack, and random people after it ends (if I feel like it and if I have the MP to spend). Selfish? Sure! But just like everyone else, I'm there for XP/AN reward.
It especially amuses me when some melee or tank not subbing WHM drags a mob far off and then dies. No RR and dead away from everyone? Sucks to be you!
Dia is 10? I was sure spells (like ones that do dmg) dont give extra exp and give 5exp/50 dmg.
I knew I should have looked it up instead of pulling a random spell out of my ass. Protect is 10, so I should have gone with that! Dia and Bio are damage, you're right. My bad.Originally Posted by Not Kuno
So let me get this straight: You're somehow better than the people who just spam barspells for max EXP/AN that you were complaining about because of what? Because they're cutting out the middleman?Originally Posted by ThistleChaser
I tank mobs without pulling them out into the middle of no where to hide them.Originally Posted by Priran
Tanking or not, I debuff mobs. Yes, it's for points (selfish reason), but the effect is the same.
If NPCs aren't there, I'll buff random PCs until I get my max for that action.
No matter what else I'm doing, I DD.
So... yes.
The people spamming barspells aren't hurting your exp/notes. They're getting something for nothing, and you can let them annoy you if you really want, but they're not hurting anyone.
The people dragging one monster far away to solo aren't hurting your exp/notes. You may be bored and confused for a few minutes after you kill off the rest of the waves, but if you're contributing enough to go over the time cap, these people are increasing your reward.
It's the NPCs and the swarms of good DD obliterating waves in seconds that have an effect on your prize, when it's over so quick you're capped at 200 exp, now those are a problem.
Yeah, that's what I tell myself. It hurts me more than anything else to be annoyed at them...Originally Posted by mackerel

The last few days I've basically been doing nothing but spamming barspells because I need to get exactly 150/75 in order to test stuff ^___________^.
But they're just there for the EXP/AN, same as anyone else.Originally Posted by ThistleChaser

If you're not doing your job, you're as bad as anyone else who isn't doing their job. I've actually had to stop going to Campaign as MNK because I was doing so much damage that I was constantly tanking for mages and PLDs who were adding nothing to the fight but gobs of TP, getting me killed, and then refusing to Raise me.
