No one gets any sort of credit for attacking fortifications now. Mages are actually slightly better off. Run around buffing people, yourself, cure cheating, etc.

Are there new temp items available at Medal rank and if so what are they?
What's the best way to take over a stronghold? With union, we've basically got a vicegrip on all 6 zones, but Titan didn't manage to take over any of the main strongholds. Is a 9am rush on La Vaule killing SCNMs and forts the best way to do it?
Few questions regarding campaign XP:
Does Flash count as enfeebling xp (or does it count as xp at all even though I am aware its divine).
Summoner Blood Pact: Wards, according to the wiki, does not give XP unless it was healing. I always thought the buffs counted... Is this right?
Do Pets follow the same ruling as players such as Damage Taken/Damage they do/etc?
Are people getting status messages of where mobs are attacking from? I'm getting conflicting reports of why its no longer happening on my server. I was under the impression it was due to reconaissance dropping, but someone in my LS told me they were getting messages before the maintenance.
I've been thinking about making a thread about that. Maybe I'll do that in a while. If you're talking EST 9am is too late to begin rushing the zone. And I don't think the SCNM are terribly helpful. They can retard the beastmen morale and prosperity but that's about it. The goal is to lower their fortification rating and make them repeatedly flee.
So my question is, can we go out of our way to get hurt by non-tagged monsters and cure ourselves for xp?
Say I'm doing an offensive battle (Rolanberry for example). There's no defending mobs and obviously whacking a fort for 20 min will result in nothing. Can I go out of my way to find a goobbue and let it whack me around, curing myself periodically, for exp? The damage I take probably won't count, but healing should, right?
If so, is this a viable option to wait for defenders to show up? Or would it be better overall to go "eh, no defending mobs, time to go" and warp out?
Sandy currently has control of Beau [S]. Is there any stuff people want tested out or is there any new Splitting Heirs like activities available because of this? I may or may not find it since I only have the rank for Splitting Heirs.
There are no new Ops in the DAT files, but that's pretty awesome!
As far as why you can't see where the mobs are coming from:
After every Campaign Tally the Recon Level drops, usually to about 1/2 of what it was pre-tally, sometimes lower. Level 6 Recon = Information about Allies' movements, Level 7 Recon = Information about Allies' Beastmen foes, not quite sure what 8 & 9 do but.. Lv 10 = Information about where the Beastmen are coming from.
I think the person in your LS was just mistaken.
EDIT: Ah well, either level 8 or 9 trigger Kindred messages. When I went to sleep yesterday, Sandy's Recon was 7 and I got no messages on the Dark Kindred, today, I zone into San d'Oria and see Shadowhorn wounded, Shadowsoul returning victorious etc. Since I saw nothing about the Northlands@Recon 7 if I had to guess, Recon 8 triggers Northland messages, Recon 9 triggers Kindred messages, and Recon 10 triggers direction.
if that does work, i wonder what the base amount cured is? I've gone into campaign with blood hp and cured myself to full (800-900hp) w/o touching anything and have gotten 0e/a. Also, I wonder what the base dmg is? going in and doing 300-400 dmg on a mob with less than 5min remaining will also net you nothing.
Might just be rare, but it's the first time I've seen allied mantelets outside of a beastmen assault on a city. Strategies this week are preemptive strikes, also considering stronghold defenses. And internal policy is stronghold outfitting. I guess it's likely due to more people doing Campaign OPs and raising the nation's technology level.
Yeah I think so too. Structures like Belfries, Mantlets (and for the beastmen Siege turrets) cost prosperity/financial stats. And so it makes sense if the prosperity is tied to ops and/or player participation in campaign.
This week Sandy took over glacier on my server. As expected there doesn't seem to be any beneficial effects at this point. Just kind of neat.
I can say with near certainty that the most recent Update to FFXI changed this. I have never seen mantelets outside of the strongholds or city campaign either, and I've also noticed a large increase in the number of Belfries being summoned. Previously on Bahamut, the Campaign Op crews would normally just bomb/repair fortifications and jet, regardless. (Beastmen had a tendency to summon turrets on defensive campaigns though) Now I see them installing mantelets and belfries more than half the time they're deployed.
Forgive my question but I've only recently got interested in doing more than enough campaign to rank up. If you destroy mantelets does it do anything? After a recent Xarc ended 3-4 popped and I (to the amusement of my ls) took them out.
Doesn't lower fortifications afaik, but the likelihood the op unit will repair/install mantelets seems to be higher, if there aren't y'know, mantelets. Spawning mantelets seems to consume resources from a zone as well. During a battle they'll give 15 hp/tic regen, 3 mp/tic refresh, 3 tp/tic regain to every mob within range during the next battle if they're left up though. Well, supposedly, those are the numbers for Allied Mantelets.
tl;dr no, killing them out of battle has very little, if any effect. I do enjoy battles when it is just mantelets & fortifications in the beginning though, since you rack up decent exp without dying, and if mobs come it's just a bonus.
More like rank ups discussion, but I've noticed that efforts towards rank up are a decaying value. At one point, I was at risk of de-ranking. After a few Campaign Battles, the NPC said I was able to retain my current rank. About 4dys later (WITHOUT Campaign Battles or Ops) I checked the NPC and he said I was at risk of De-ranking (Note: I did NOT accept the "Maintain rank" option earlier).
Yes? I thought it was well known the longer you wait to rank up, the more exp it will take.
