I can't see how you would even get a party with that spell list past a certain level, No wonder this job was in the past and no one played it in the future.
Hopefully that list is wrong or them other spells are great :/

Storm series is weather changing, and Helix are DoTs.Originally Posted by Weavus
I don't see any trace of those 4 seasons spells too btw.
if this is infact scholars spell list, its shit... no gravity, not even a few -na spells. so /rdm still fullfills a better role for soloing on my blm....
I realy hope the spelllist is wrong
Seems more likely that the storm spells are weather-changing spells and the helix spells are DoT. I remember reading from one of the fanfest reports that the new scholar DoT spells would be level 60+ (with helix spells being level 61-75).Originally Posted by Weavus

the helix spells are the elemental DoTs themselves.
so, theoretically one would use the -storm spell and change the weather to say... thunder.
then use the thuner based helix to maximize the DoT output.
i believe there is also a SCH JA that increases the DoT but halves the duration, again it doesnt specify by how much of an increase so it may just end up being a useless (situational) JA.

When they use their Light Arts and Dark Arts I believe they get access to more. So this list probably just reflects their default spell list.

Maybe this has been addressed elsewhere, but gravity falls under black magic, and we've seen scholar cast graviga. According to the ability set of scholar, there is no ability which turns black magic spells into AoE (Accession turns white magic spells to AoE, there's no equivalent Dark Arts strategem), so there may still be something we're missing.
it would? all 'eating' that scroll does is set a flag in your player data records that says 'you know this spell'.Originally Posted by Hadibou
there's nothing stopping SE from having a job ability that temporarily flags those without involving the eating of scrolls.

Extends the effect of your next enfeebling black magic spell to targets within range. MP cost is tripled and casting time is doubled.
Nice try though.
Ah, thanks. The description of manifestation I read must have been mistranslated casting time as duration (said 3x MP cost, double duration).Originally Posted by Lunais
... I haven't seen anyone mention this anywhere, so I'm curious about opinions.
Those day-dependent weapons (the firesday ones, mostly)? Sexy now? Do you think the scholar spells would give the bonuses, or is it just a single-target effect? Sadly, I'm thinking this isn't going to trigger it... which is a shame--it'd give the damn things a use.
Also... weird weather-dependent items (Monsoon Tekko!)... can we actually come up with a use for these now? Hell if I remember what are out there, I long ago deemed them completely useless.
Besides that, what exactly are we expecting from the ability to force a weather on someone? Some enhanced WS effects (mixed with sea gorgets or obis maybe?) could make SCH a type of support job... Ooh. 1-melee merit PT: WAR COR BRD BRD SCH DNC! Double march, double minuet, endrain, rolls of choice, DNC flourish to enhance WS, SCH weather effect to enhance WS dmg ...? Let me dream!
You are quite a bit off...Originally Posted by Slycer

We were given this list before:
Spell list active during White Grimoire
Cure I (7MP)-IV
Raise I-II
Poisona
Paralyna
Blindna
Silena
Stona
Viruna
Cursna (27MP)
Dia I-II
Diaga
Protect I-IV
Shell I-IV
Blink (18MP)
Stoneskin (27MP)
Aquaveil
Paralyze
Silence
Barfire/bliz/aero/stone/thunder/water
(and about 24 more spells that aren't shown)
So it seems White Grimoire has an effect of -10% MP spell use for WHM spells. Since I didn't see Curaga, it's a good indication that Osaka (demo char) wasn't /WHM.
For Black Grimoire
Fire I (22MP)-IV
Blizzard I-IV
Aero I-IV
Stone I (9MP)-IV
Thunder I-IV
Water I-IV
Gravity (72MP)
Poison
Bio I-II
Drain
Aspir
Blaze Spikes
Sleep
Bind
Dispel
Stone Weather Spell?
(and maybe another 7 spells)
Confused?
SCH + 5 well geared SMNs for moar Fenrir Zerg!
Thanks. I had found it after my first post in this thread. >.oOriginally Posted by Ixidor
I don't think we should be writing off scholar because it's spell list isn't what we expected. After reading more about those DoT and weather effect spells, I have high hopes for SCH usefullness. 50hp/tick. ^^ We can hope (Add Bio and win).
