I would guess the AOE part, yes, but I'm not sure about the "enhances" part. My guess would be it's just a Raise-1-ga, because we all know how well Divine Seal + Raise works.Originally Posted by TacoTaru

Still leveling it, because I'm awesome and so is the hat. 8)
A good hat is essential for a worthwhile mage job. Therefore, we can be sure Scholar will be good.
Why would you do it with spells you aren't going to have? Well this IS SE we're talking about. Just sayin'.Originally Posted by Kenai

What if Scholar can use a lot of other spells, but only if you've already learned them on another job and have that particular grimoire in use? That way the scroll .dats won't give you the full picture of the job. The only problem I see with this theory is that SE hasn't stated this explicitly, but it would make the job more of what people thought of it.
#1 Like porogo, using grimmoire could unlock a few more spell depending of your level
#2 Lv 75 merit ability? Tier 4 spell, cure 4?
Has SE ever done anything like this? i mean, I know there's been stuff like the galka from CoP with the SMN gear and axe, and someone mentioned in another thread about Goobues eating mandies in a movie that never happened in-game. but this is actual demoing we are talking about, and VERY close to release. Even then, SE has never outright falsified information in this regard. There have been plenty of nuggets of info leaked they provided to end up being dissapointments, but that was largely from expectations being set too high about things they didn't know enough about.Originally Posted by Akiyama
We have SEEN these spells on a SCH in a DEMO at fanfest, and they even went out of their way to demo low-casting Stoneskin, Graviga, and a huge spell sheet on a 60 SCH. That isn't something you can pass off as "this is SE", they don't do stuff like that...or at least, not in the past.
I played this job as well at Fanfest:
scholar character we played was 60SCH/30RDM so we had Gravity etc.
Tier 4 cure prior to when WHM gets it was kinda cool, as well as Regen III prior to Whm getting it. I think the real power to this job comes when it is utilized as a subjob, especially for HNM or end game things. Sure it will have its place in End Game (limited) but I do like the upside of it as a subjob.
Scholar gets a 1 minute or so re-use timer on job ability that allows greater potency for light/drk. after using that ability, you are able to access a second set of ablilities where you can further augment your spell, such as turning it into a -ga spell. So, Scholar , when subbing Rdm, has access to Gravity-ga, and Curaga etc which I find to be quite cool. I can see using it as a subjob on whm and blm for sure End Game, as it offers a great deal of options and versatility. We didn't have access to all the cool spells listed above in some of the posts, so maybe that would change my outlook, but as of right now, with my 20-30 minutes of playtime on the job, i'd use it as a subjob for my Whm (75).
That's what I was thinking, the bst main job level and /bst charm rate thing is kind of similar. However I still think it's much more likely the person that claimed to see those spells was just lying or mistaken, or the demo characters just had extra shit.Originally Posted by Eaglestrike

For some reason I doubt they would release a job that requires 2 other specific jobs at 75 for it to be good.
Calculator! That would be an interesting twist, but a big turn off for a lot of people.Originally Posted by fantasticdan
I'm not disagreeing with you, I think it'd be a bit far-fetched too, but keep in mind that the only way to actually level SCH to 75 at this time is by having already beaten Maat on another 75 job. So they at least expect you to either have a 75 job, or be prepared to be stuck at 70 for a few months.Originally Posted by Acorn
In the blue mage introduction video they showed it casting Spider Web...which we still don't have.Originally Posted by Kenai
If it really does work that way I will be very happy because I already have those 2 jobs at 75.Originally Posted by Xavier
And I suppose anything is possible... Early on if you wanted to be a cool Summoner you had to have a job capable of killing the prime avatars... And if you had Fenrir you were super-cool.
That was like 8 months before release though. This was a few weeks or days ago.Originally Posted by Havok
Actually, that was Filamented Hold. Everyone *thought* it was Spider Web, but whoever reported it as such got a bit confused.Originally Posted by Havok
Now I don't remember how long before ToAU that BLU video was, but it sure wasn't a week before the expansion goes live.Originally Posted by Havok
I still think that Gravity, Dispel, -na spells, and such, are all added by activating one Grimoire or the other. Instead of learning the spell, and then not having access to it half the time, they just give you the spell when you use the JA.
They didn't even have the BLU spell casting animation either, just the regular JA movement. So that was very early into development.Originally Posted by Sagacious Sundi
