I must say DNC as main or sub opens alot possibilitys, just finished it to 37 to start lvling up my mnk fromg 37 on. we were 4 people: SCH/BLM NIN/WAR RNG/NIN MNK/DNC (me) lvl 38-39 and killed IT nest beetles without any problem and almost no downtime. I would recommend every melee to lvl up DNC as SJ ^^

Finally got to 75 and had my first merit pt where i was not main heal. We had a brd and rdm and went out to nyzul.

So i said to the leader that I would WS a bit.

I was nicely impressed with 900-1k + DEs constantly! if i self renkei added an additional 400-500 scission.

The one thing that stood out was that the rdm was totally drooling over the instant heals. kept going WTF everytime lol

My best PT lately was Dancer-related. Two DNC, WAR/NIN, RNG, SAM, COR.

Hunter's + Samurai Roll. They were JA-spewing dancing machines.

I will admit that Usukane would be pretty hot. Accuracy, haste, and store TP would all be welcome for DNC. I also think it would be a huge slap in the face to tell people they can't use any Salvage armor on new jobs, considering what it takes to obtain. And no abjuration gear either? I really do hope SE are just waiting to see how people use the jobs.

Yeah, wondered why I had never heard of it before. I looked it up when I found the name though. I'm not that unable to find my information (most of the time).

/dnc is the most broken sub that SE introduced since /nin... just had a pt with the following setup at lvl 41-43, altepa beetles:

BRD/WHM
PLD/WAR
SAM/WAR
RNG/DNC
MNK/DNC (me)

no downtime, maincureing was shared between me and the rng, had no problem to keep up with enough tp to maincure. Especially the rng had an easy time to accumulate tp with barrage. to make it short, it was better then a pt with mages in the backline... I was shocked by the facte that we could go on and on and on. the pld did even go berserk everytime and we had no problem to keep up with healing.

Some observations I made is that after lvl 40 /dnc can bring fort some unexpected tanks. I have tanked in emegerency well as mnk/dnc 40 with animated flourish and cureing dances. Off course the hate comes not close to that of a pld and the hits taken for a mnk are well . However I could see SAM/DNC with Seigan put out a very nice solid tank after lvl 40. Meditate, seigan thrid eye etc. it could be a very well and decent tank, basicly a mix between a nin and a pld, not the reliability nin shadows offers, but can back up himself with cureing waltzes, and tp is no problem for a sam (meditate). Just some thoughts. MNK/DNC as a tank is a bit harder to pull off, depending on the mob type and setup. On higher enemys I had some struggle keeping hate, and MNK/DNC definitly needs some more backup then SAM/DNC. I wish MNKs guarding would proc more often.

I agree that sam and monk can "tank" with dnc sub but, the creation of an initial hate spike is greatly missing

animated flourish is very weak and needs finishing moves. If there was a way to make finishing moves without the need to do a step on a target then maybe it could be more feasable
also at higher levels I cant see this being very viable. the dmg that can be done to a target in an instant will be too much for waltz 2 to deal with without basically having to spam cure for every hit you get.

I really have not tried tanking on sam/dnc but im thinking it is possible.. less possible on mnk, keeping hate an issue.

I can tank Campaign NM's with just a little support as War/Dnc, and solo any lesser campaign mob.

As long as it can't dole out 1200 Damage in one shot (which kills me) or do more than 400 Damage every 8 seconds, it's pretty easy to keep me standing, and I'm a taru.

With some Koenig to buff up my CWII I should be able to get 250 Hp per cure, almost a quarter of my life.

Sam/Dnc makes a great tank for exp-ish stuff, especially with soboro, a good deal of haste, and store-tp merits. I usually choose sam/dnc over /war since all my other 75s are mages and I hate when mages are struggling for MP in a party and melee just keep pulling and taking pecking flurries or firespits. I've never played it trying to intentionally generate hate with Animated Flourish, but usually do enough curing and WS that hate eventually comes my way anyway. Gives rdm greater oppurtunity to keep hastes going and perhaps actually enfeeble without really needing to spam cure 4s around when things get a little out of hand.

I haven't had trouble getting parties on your dancer... but I have with mine lately.

I've had similar problems because at any given time there's about 5~10 dancers in every level range. Every party I've had for the last 20 levels has had at least 2 dancers in it... Not necessarily bad pts, but DNC DNC DNC WHM RDM NIN doesn't = lots of exp/hr.

When I got 75, the closest NA was I think 64, with another barely at 60, rest were pretty low, after my vacation ended(when I got 63), approximately 8 JP's got ahead of me, but not really any contenton for me when I leveled the rest of it.

Sounds pretty much the same as me, only when I got to 75 there was one other NA at 70. And only 5 JPs ahead of me, either way, I had the same mentality. Beat the rush or fight for party spots against 20 other DNCs in the same level range.

same thing happened with blu and cor, except it was a positive because multiple blus is fucking awesome, since they benefit from the same buffs. I think about 90% of my parties on COR had at least 3 blu in them.
