I was really expecting something better to be honest, specialy since I love to do campaign with mnk/dnc.
To be honest, DNC isn't too amazingly useful in large group situations, crippled by the fact that cures can't target outside of party, and Sambas only take effect for party members. Steps are a nice all around debuff to be used on mobs, but it seems like the farther you gravitate away from a low man situation and into a big group, the less and less useful DNC becomes.

Edit: I've used it in Salvage a bit, and it's pretty good. Innate HtH skill means it only needs JAs to cure and WS, which gives you a healer/dd with no need for MP cells. Give them a weapon and it's all good. I really enjoyed DNC in Salvage, but I can't really see it being too useful in Dynamis. (Except maybe against DL for the Debuffs)

Thanks for the info can you tell me if your cures are gimped from stat decrease in salvage? I keep wanting to bring my dnc into my salvage run but I keep getting no lol, its nice to know that it is actually reliable in salvage runs. also what sub did you use.

and on DL i can imagine that shutter step is great for chain stun. But i do agree that DNC has too many limits endgame. The fact that there is no way to gain decent tp without meleeing really is bad for a dependable healer. It would be awsome if step range was increased, it would work wonders for many nms and endgame stuff

for End game I think dnc would be great in a Tank pt using Nin. shutter step seems that it would be put to good use there for landing of nin spells, an extra stun though unreliable can be great for when shadows go down as well as landing a desperate flourish in the case of having to kite.

DD pt lower evasion and def haste and wild flourish for chains would be nice also depending onthe jobs available.

I do think many adjustments will be made to dnc as well as merits to come may add some things to help dnc out endgame for sure. Its still very new and alot do not know what dnc can do really. and because it can fill many spaces i guess its really hard to place it anywhere as of yet.

/NIN, and yeah, cures are gimped from the start a bit, but since people aren't usually fighting each other for CHR cells, it's not much of an issue.

    Re: Dancer discussion

Dancer runs along the lines of Thief in terms of gear so the more logical choice if Dancer gets Salvage armor at all would be Skadi since Usukane is for jobs that practice 'martial arts' or what not
This was my initial thought... until I remembered that PUP is on Usukane.

Of course, PUP's gear choices are pretty damn random at best (seriously, mage gear for everything barring Pahluwan and Usukane, freaking SE), but it does give a precedent for a job that's not on any of the other Eastern gear being on Usukane.

And hell, SE + logical has never been that common of a combination.

Also, if SE always played by their own rules, BST would be on Ares instead of Skadi (and there are probably a dozen other little exceptions that I can't think of right now). In a way, it's nice that they did something weird, but only because BST gets +movement feet.

Yeah, DNC is similar to THF in terms of gear, so Skadi would be logical...if they decide to follow what the've done thus far. I'm sure SE could make Chocobo Jig fail to stack with +movement gear if they wanted to avoid that issue. Either set would be welcome, though.

Edit: I guess I need to finally find an avatar to get rid of this freakish thing that seems to have appeared.

Skadi with all the Chr, Store TP, Haste... yeah it's pretty hot for Dnc.

Actually, I don't see that being much of an issue, since it already doesn't stack with Mazurka. Chocobo Jig + Mazurka + Two pieces of dusk gear is still just regular movement speed, so the two don't stack. And obviously Sprinter Shoes and Chocobo Jig overwrite each other since they're the same status effect.

I think SE's just being lazy.

    Re: Dancer discussion

BST has always had amazing versitility so it just happened to be bacause skadi had a mess full of charisma that SE decided to tack it on that set. Either set would have worked for BST since they get 2 solid endgame melee sets already and a great WS set already. For BST, Ares would have just been more icing on the cake.

Only reason PUP made the Usukane was because of the background lore of them practicing martial arts using the saintis. That and the mage sets in salvage would have made absolutely no sense....

Not that that stopped SE putting Puppetmaster on Golliard.

    Re: Dancer discussion

The only piece of Skadi with CHR on it is the body, which has +8. This isn't even as good as Osode, and frankly you're fine (possibly better off) with one of the AF bodies or Gaudy anyway. I really, really hope their reasoning was +movement and not +CHR. Other than that...the hands and legs are cool if you have Byakko issues, but that's about it.

Edit: Sorry, I think I'm straying way off topic at this point. Uh...I got 5 DNC levels today! There.

    Re: Dancer discussion

How are you guys making the blink > dance > blink macro to avoid the JA animation? I tried something like the following, and have messed with the waits with values from 0 to 2 but nothing seems to work. Either I start dancing before blinking (wait 0) or I blink back in before dancing (wait >0). Any ideas?

    Code:
    /equip something
    /wait 1
    /ja something
    /wait 1
    /equip something
Do I need 2 different macros? One to cause the blinking and one to dance?

    Re: Dancer discussion

Don't think it's possible, some people on lolalla claimed they were able to pull it off shortly after WoTG was released. Guessing it was ninja nerfed or wasn't possible to begin with.

    Re: Dancer discussion

Only way to skip dance animations is to interrupt with another JA/Dance/Step.

If they bother you, just land a Step or Flourish just after you start the Dance, that will finish the animation.

Yea, I've been doing that since I started, but once in a while, I still have to do a dance solo and it’s just kinda annoying.

Is this can’t-avoid-animation deal just for dances, though? Because I know for sure on my NIN and WAR, I’ve used Provoke without ever seeing the animation (during merit PTs and WS/TP macros). It could be that it’s a much shorter animation and I haven’t merited on either since WoTG came out, so if it was fixed then, that might be another explanation.

Yes, I can confirm that as well from my PT last night on Greater Colibri.

I also occasionally get animations to skip, usually if I'm running at the time, but it's unpredictable (and haven't seen it on a dance). You could always replace the .dat with the one for /wave or something, if that still works.

    Re: Dancer discussion

Actually, that reminded me that when I got animations to skip (dances as well as stuff like Provoke), it was when I was under another animation (e.g. Minuet) and not equip blinking. So yea, skipping animation with blinking might be impossible.

    Re: Dancer discussion

You can skip animation for Flee by exchanging equips at least, I do it all the time since it technically adds a little extra Flee time. No idea about dances though.

    Re: Dancer discussion

You can skip fast animation job abilities with relative reliability (never 100%), but longer JAs will always go off unless interrupted with another JA (as Max said). It's not quite like a Bard's singing and whether or not you hear it.
