    Re: Dancer discussion

Ok feel kinda nub asking this but I wanted a bit up feedback to see if anyone used this gear. Anyone use any Raven gear at 50 with their DNC? The sensible part of me knows the hate loss is going to hurt me juggling hate in my low man PT, but the wishful part of me hopes Waltz II+ will offset the hate loss from the gear and basically keep my hate merits in play... mainly looking at the legs considering their large eva bonus over things like Kingdom... *maybe* the feet too but for now I think I am ok with Mountain Gaiters.

Anyway, feedback please, if you dont mind. :D

I used the Body mainly (Rep. Subligar for Legs) and I was still able to pull hate relatively easy with Waltz spam. If you're trying to pull hate, you can always just macro them out for Waltzes or macro them in for the Evasion when you pull hate.

    Re: Dancer discussion

Been a bit but finally dinged 60 and gained access to Dancing Edge with 2 dagger merits. I was pleased with initial results as /NIN (high of 414) so when I was invited to join a party that turned out to having a WHM PLD and RDM, I decided that I would try out the DD capability of DNC with my new WS. I went as 61 DNC/30 WAR to test out DA and Berserk.

Overall, it was a fun experience. No dual wielding felt strange for the first few minutes but DA and Berserk more than made up for it. Unfortunately, I was asked to pull. With no shadows, I was concerned but we were doing Colibris and camp was fortunately near. With little need of curing waltzes, I decided to keep up a mix of DS II and Haste Samba and enfeeble as usual. DE proved to be a wonderful addition to DDing. My average Building Flourish DEs (remember, this is with no bard) were around 350, with many 400s, 500s, and my highests:

    http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b7.../highestde.png

I rarely pulled hate as well. The benefit of piercing weak mobs certainly helped as well. Still, I can only imagine the awesomeness of a COR/BRD enhanced DNC DD. I will be exping as DNC/NIN next time to compare.

    Love the job

When I got to Lesser Collibri level, I ended up being main heal through most of it, sometimes with or without additional support. I wore a couple pieces of the crow gear then, getting hate from cures to eat a feather tickle really kills main healing. If you want to get hate I'd probably stay away from them.

Yeah, I had some great luck at that camp as DNC/NIN with WS damage, Colibiri are squishy as hell. Granted I was 64 at the time, but the xp was still decent so I think these shots still count. No bard, eating mithkas:

The problem for me is, even though I can do just fine on WS damage and get away with meat at most camps (~80% acc unless I'm overhunting) I just can't seem to keep up on DoT with "real" damage dealers. I've posted my gear below, although I'll usually swap in a life belt instead of sword+1 on TP build. Anyone have any advice, or am I getting about the most that I can expect?

    ^ Great stuff there.

I just hit 74 as DNC and have been playing around with the birds at Nyzul Isle. My Building Flourished DE at 73 ended up consistently between 700-900 with sushi (lows in the 500 range if all attacks did not hit) and some BRD songs (not March unfortunately). I can't wait for 75. I am so pleasantly surprised that Dancer really does turn out to be a fantastic DD in the end.

It's just a shame that it's functionally dead in the water outside of EXP/Merits at 75.

    Re: Dancer discussion

The only thing I've used DNC main for since hitting 75 on it has been to solo missions and some AF quests. It's a bit sad...I think if it were my only 75 job I could certainly find a way to fit it into stuff, but since I don't have to...other jobs just work better.

I'm sure I'll be using it again in June though...especially if they implement that outpost-keeping thing too.

    Re: Dancer discussion

Ok I'm having a difficult decision here.

Dancer Pants @ 75. What do you use?

I've narrowed it down to 3 but I can't really seem to get any of them without some major problems.

    Denali Legs
    Pahluwan Legs
    Barbarossa's Zerehs.

Denali and Pahluwan Legs suffer from the same problem: They're tied to assault tags. I run my LS Salvage static so I don't have the tags really to spend to get Denali or Pahluwan unless I leach them or cut back on Salvage (something I don't wish to do).

Barbarossa's have a terribly low drop rate and no one seems to want to do the quests.

So is there another alternative to all of this? Or does anyone have any suggestions? Did I miss something? I really am trying to stick with something that gives ACC or Haste.

    Re: Dancer discussion

Vendor's Slops doesn't really offer anything over Dancer's Tights; a little more HP, but AF is Acc+3 Enm-1 and Charisma +3, so it's marginally superior to Vendor's unless you're going for an HP build. Prince's Slops are better, but fairly expensive for that extra point of accuracy (good if you ARE making an HP build though, for whatever reason...). You may wish to wait and see what the Cobra AN item is for legs. The model is kind of hideous (on men at least), but it could be good for DNC. If not, you'll have to think about one of those three options.

Denali isn't even really that much better than AF, to be honest, unless you're soloing (in which case they look pretty damned good). Frankly, I don't think Pahluwan are that much better for DNC either; in fact, for solo, I'd rather have denali, since the agi and evasion will offer a little more survivability. Pahluwan is a preferable option to Princely Slops, though. However, let's not forget the old adage "The only good haste is MOAR HASTE;" unless you critically need 3-4 accuracy to land things (and that acc could be important in certain situations), you're really just better off keeping AF legs until and unless you can get Barbarossa's (or, pending usefulness, Cobra). Since you do (semi?)Hardcore Salvage, it's probably not worth it for you to sacrifice what you'd have to sacrifice for Denali or Pahluwan for the fairly marginal upgrades they offer over AF. If you have access to them, they ARE worth using, but you probably shouldn't concern yourself overmuch at this point.

These wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if you have enough accuracy.

    Re: Dancer discussion

Actually, Dusk Trousers are a pretty good (if expensive) idea. The accuracy you can get in legs is fairly small, and with daggers ya could really use a boost in attack to poke a little harder through all that high-level defense. Dusk Trousers would probably be a good idea on T to low-VT mobs, where you can wear an assortment of accuracy gear but still have space for haste and attack. If you don't have a rap harness, assault jerkin is a pretty good T-range option, as it provides a touch of accuracy and a good boost to attack; this follows a similar principle. Without native SATA or A+ skill, a dancer's dagger needs a bit more of a boost than thief, so I think things like AJ and Dusk are valid options for certain scenarios (when I get there, I'm going to test Rap vs AJ in Nyzul, for instance, though I expect rap to win), and again, this should apply to Acc+3/4 vs Att+14 (but, if anything, weights more heavily towards att due to the Super Powers of Haste).

    Barbarossa > all

Denali are awesome for soloing and Dancing Edge, Paluwahn are okay, DNC AF pants are good, and unless you're going to bother with HQs, don't bother with Vendor's Slops.

    Really that good huh?

I've been trying to find people to do the quests but I don't really know a strategy or job setup. I've been looking on Wiki and it isn't too much help. Advice? lol

DNC has two ACC boost traits, that's 22+ skill, which really makes up for the B(-/+) skill they get without merits. So it's close enough to an A skill with the trait. Add in some ACC gear and merits and you're golden.

    I do this with 4 people. BLU/NIN MNK/NIN RDM/WHM SMN/WHM (me)

    Kill 2 imps, everyone rest to full. My group doesn't care about the moufles so BLU just cannonball's the monkey. I sic carby on the boss and kite him around the upper deck until monkey is low percent. Bring boss back in and we proceed to beat him down. The boss can be pretty tough on shadow tanking because he constantly double attacks and RAs as well as spamming TP moves so if possible, the ideal tank for this would be a PLD but we get it done with the two melee (with the mnk tanking the entire thing mostly). I just spam earthen ward as soon as my BP timer is done and help the RDM cure with an occasional BP: rage. 0/6 on it so far. ;;

And I use pahluwan at the moment because denali is so ugly. Just macro in denali for my WS.

I appreciate the strategy, especially the low man one. That helps a lot...the problem I'm having though is with the first quest. I can't find an ideal balance to do the quest. The suggestions I was given was 3 BLU/NINs, 1 PLD, 2 RDMs.

Alt setup was 2 RDMs, 2 BLMs, 1 PLD, 1 DD.

But still no one can give me a solid strat. I kinda need to beat the first one to get to the DNC pants at the end of the tunnel XD
