Whats actually in the expanasion pack to be excited about?

Dancer? This one is at least a new concept. However, I feel like I'd have to kill myself a second time if I was caught dead wearing the AF.

Scholar? appears could have easily been replaced by just giving blm and whm a few more job abilities.

It certainly won't surprise me if SE will add some more content to make for a great expansion over time but am I missing something right now at launch? I don't really see anything to be excited about so far. Am I the only one feeling this way?

We have 60 slots now and there's two new gobbiebag quests. So, unless each one only adds 5, we have 80 slots. The second quest requires Lynx leather, which I can only assume are the orange tigers in the expansion.

What about the storyline and missions that come with the expansion, and the completely newly rendered areas? >.> Why do people always need a reward when doing something in this game. I play RPG's for the STORYLINE, and in this case a MMO, for doing the storyline with friends and other people.

I don't know why people expect to find good gear in the dats, it just doesn't seem to be in the cards. I'm looking forward to exploring new areas, new story, and campaign personally.

I was fairly excited about SCH until I saw their magic list, but DNC still seems kinda interesting.

If you are playing the game for gears, this update so far offer very little obviously. What I love the most in FFXI is exploring, going to new place, try to fight something harder (or same fight with less people). The whole "old map reskinned" kinda bug me, but I will probably enjoy re-exploring the old area anyway. The new events are probably going to be fun, and getting more story is always nice. How long it will last if there is no gears to look forward (only way to measure your character progress)? I don't know, but it's not like there is nothing.

It was confirmed at FanFest that Max Inventory is 70.

I thought each gobbiebag quest only added 5 slots anyway? At least the first 6 did, so I was only assuming these two would as well.

I agree with Xavier though. I'm not looking forward to the items and stuff when I get back to the game. I'm looking forward to the plot, areas, quests, and some campaign action. It'll be nice to see the past.

It looks like there's several different solo low level campaign quests to do. More ways to obtain exp to apply on lower level jobs in addition to exp scrolls sounds great. New missions and quests. Why say "meh" just because of gear. You can't dat mine things like what new mobs would be great for x type of parties, and who knows what else. Not to mention, just maybe... fun.

Is everything the expansion will be released with in the dats now? Or will a lot more come on the expansion disc itself with another patch on the 22? If it's the former, WotG looks extremely disappointing. Only three new missions and a small handful of quests at release? That sounds more like a small update than an expansion pack. Looks like WotG is going to be released even slower than ToAU, which is kind of sad considering the 'new' zones themselves are recycled to begin with. The scholar job itself is a rehash as well, aside from the weather and dot spells.

Also no new blue spells off of the new mobs at release? Kinda messed up... I hope I'm wrong about most of this.

I wish they would have bothered finishing the ToAU jobs before going on to make new ones as well as giving some seriously neglected jobs new legitimate JAs/Spells. Last few updates have completely revolved around the same few jobs only to end up where they started it seems. "Meh" indeed...

This is a "preliminary" update, we are getting only a bunch of general stuff like synth materials and some crappy armor that most likely npcs will get to wear, it is not the whole content and I'm pretty sure is far from that.

I'm aware that all new areas will take a good chunk of expansion's DVD, but we still don't know what Campaign rewards are, and they will prol be n par with Assault gear from Aht Urghan.

We have 2 months before next update to mess around with new jobs and missions, and to scout new areas... Enough to get busy while waiting on some new endgame activity/better gear/new missions etc.

(And, btw... everyone will STILL be staring at Darters in Aery at least 3 hours a day)

That being said, what is and isn't enjoyable and fun is in the eye of the beholder. I think it will be fun, and that's all the matters to me.
