Windowed/game lag? edit: USB Devices FIX INSIDE

svchost processes typically contain multiple services. For example, MS released a buggy software update service a few months ago. Would crash on startup or hang a machine...if shut down, or crashed, it would take down other services under the same svchost, typically among them, print spooler. So I'd find a machine unable to print, among other things...disabling software update would mean the svchost didn't crash, and so the other stuff stayed on.

So it's possible the PNP thing is just another service running under it, not the actual issue. Though it could be.


I tried unplugging my G5 mouse, still had problems. Maybe needs to be prior to launching. I shall see.

taking it out and putting it back in while the game is running works, the effect shows after a few seconds.

did you try removing the KB as well (regardless of brand) Isolia?

unplugged microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse, went from 8fps to cap.

Not to post twice in a row. . .but I tried previously at my office with the lag. And I had a wireless keyboard as well. . . hmmm

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+
3.02 GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM

SP2, Directx 9,

all Graphic Card drivers are updated, everything on the PC is updated....


i'm ..... going..... insane...


EVERYTHING I TRY MAKES IT SOO FUCKING LAGGY....


heres a crazy thing too,

i tried an old version of windower, and it told me that my direct 3D was not functioning properly, and then i tried logging on with official windower and it gave me the same message, then i restarted my computer and it went away and the lag came back...


IDK WHAT TO DO.... someone save me before i cry.




Additional edit: I have 2 wired keyboard and mouse, and it still lags, so the wireless/wired is not the problem.. 1280b by 1024 rez... i have 2 screens running but i have tried with only one screen running so thats not it... god i dont know what it could be, i've never seen anything like this

Mine is currently working like normal. I was waiting a long time to finish the update, and finally finished it not too long ago. I am also able to 2 box like normal, like I was just last night, getting 20+ FPS average on both windows. Had it working on both v3.24, v3.3, and fullscreen. Have not tried official windowed yet.

Although aged, yet still running FFXI fine, I have..

Members of my linkshell confirm 100% - removing USB keyboard, unplugging, lag goes away.

This affects even the two that don't have any special USB drivers or have $5 cheapo 104-key keyboards. Remove the USB keyboard, the lag goes away.

Sounds like this latest update is having problems polling USB keyboards.

The problem is actually whether or not your keyboard is USB. It would appear that people with PS/2 keyboards (myself included) don't experience any sort of lag. Go pick up a USB->PS/2 converter from RadioShack or something, can't be more than like $5.

Some other people I've talked to has said that their FPS has improved with no keyboard/mouse plugged in either. This is all USB btw.

Unplugging my G15 keyboard fixed the lag problem for me too... only problem now is that I have no keyboard -.-
