I've switched to a PS2 keyboard (utopia) and logitech USB corded mouse and all is well. But I use my G11 for all my jobs and lag free macros, I wouldn't want to play without it. and corded mouse makes me cry.Originally Posted by Djekkie

Indeed, dug out an old PS/2 keyboard (damn, this thing is huuuge compared to the flat edge keyboard. Keytronic Lifetime series, I knew that lifetime guarantee would pay off some day), using USB mouse though, but it's working like a charm now. Would seem to be the optimal solution for everyone affected to jump to PS/2 for now until they sort it out.
I unplugged kb/mouse (both usb) and was still running at 6.5FPS T_T
Unplugging my MS KB/M and the game runs perfectly, problem is that both KB and Mouse use a single usb port, for the desktop receiver.
But the question remains... Will it blend?Originally Posted by Kaylia
It seems to be an issue with USB keyboards (or wireless base units that connect Keyboards/mice). This certainly is one of the more broken updates and I do hope something is done, it's quite a problem when probably 40% of their customers can't use their own hardware to play ffxi.Originally Posted by Khrno
PS/2 limitations.
I had no problems with my FPS with a USB mouse and PS/2 keyboard. Although the update took like 7 hours...
Stupid SE coding.
8600GTS, last revision of beta drivers for Crysis, amd 64 single core 3500+
asus mb, etc etc, pol @ low priority, 26% cpu usage, Runs like normal.
edit: mouse is a logitech G5 on usb, and i have a ps/2 keyboard from 1997
could it be a Driver issue?
Like Windowers issue with the infrared Sensors?
i mean not the keyboards themselves but their drivers?
I havent tried to unplug my Wireless HP KB and Mouse yet, cuz my bro is seeing if my laptop at home runs it and is in the middle of updating >.>
MX5000 logitech keyboard/mouse, lag like crazy.
unplugged and using crappy default dell keyboard/mouse that came with this PC and don't lag at all. SE better fix this quick - I didn't pay alot of $ for a nice keyboard/mouse so I could use this crappy one.
try checking/unchecking hardware mouse in ffxi config?
Sorry if this was addressed already but the pages I looked through I didnt see this. Thought this would be the most appopriate place to put it since it has to do with update bugs >_>
Ever since starting up FFXI after the update (started it with the new windowed mode) my keyboard has been locking up about every character I type making me have to press the key 5x for it to actually type it and freezing one letter while I type so it goes like aaaaaaaaaaaa. This is only when I have FFXI. I switched back to the better windower immediately after logging on pretty much.
Wow this took forever for me to type. -_- I see problems with keyboards lagging the game but the game runs with no lag Its just the typing thats messed up and only when FFXI is on. Oh and I have a wireless Microsoft comfort keyboard 4000(im pretty sure thats its name lol)
I bet its the way they try to recapture the mouse/keyboard focus for the official Windower. Except that they broke a basic implementation that is present in so many modern games.
And now we all know that SE does not use wireless keyboards/mice or any of the gaming hardware on their test machines.
Confirmed it is my Logitech diNovo Keyboard causing the fps lag.
However, my Logitech mx5000 mouse, which has its own base station/charger causes no problems.
gogo SE dev team only using whatever crap came with their dells to do usabilty testing.
...and don't even get me started about the 2hander adjustment....
When FFXI drops out of focus, it lowers its priority. So the front pol.exe has top cpu priority, and lags the other one. Found that myself.Originally Posted by Vixy

Edit -
PC is using MI 'elite' keyboard (its not so elite) and logitech optical mouse, both on USB.
Laptop is using a lexmark and a microsoft optical mouse on the USB's
Unplugged usb keyboard, replaced with a really crappy old keyboard that's missing like 8 keys, 30fps. Plugged back in my usb mouse. 30fps remains. Sweet. Hope SE fixes this though =X I wonder if they're trying to remove the use of keyboards that are capable of performing macros and repeated actions. Such keyboards would most likely use USB. But meh who knows. SE is unpredictable, as ever.
I tried, still 6.5FPS -.-;Originally Posted by Koga
