Maybe there's a possible way to block FFXI from reading the HID-compliant consumer control devices that seem to be causing so much trouble. I remember a LONG time ago, I used process guard to bypass things in other games, and it was my savior... Maybe process guard can be that hero of mine once again and literally stop FFXI from reading info from said devices.
Theoretically, if FFXI can NOT read from those devices, it would have the SAME effect as disabling it, since FFXI would have no interaction with them.
The only problem though, is that I don't know where that file would be located, and I honestly don't have the time to go looking for it. If anyone knows it offhand, please post here, and I'll try and use it with process guard and see if I can't get this to work.
If this does work though, you could play the game normally, and have the same buttons and things working without any trouble, since process guard has never failed me yet, and I've used it for years...
Maybe this could be a temporary fix 'till SE fixes their "mistake." But, if they're following Microsoft's example, that little "fix" we're all hoping for may not come for a LONG time, or be entirely non-existent. ProcessGuard may be our only hope if we can find the root file of the HID-devices.
And yes, if you block the wrong thing, FFXI won't be able to read it at all, so make sure if you try this you don't block the USB from being read, as your device might not work with FFXI then. Make sure you ONLY block the HID-Compliant Consumer Control Devices.
