So does SE, or this would've been fixed sooner![]()
Finally fucking cured mine.
Disbabling EVERYTHING with HID in the name worked lol (I had 5 total).
With each one disabled, my FPS jumped like 5. now back at a steady 29
The only thing I notice I lost from disabling all those is my mouse scroll is a little faster, and my g15 LCD doesnt display
Worth it until they patch.
This is a sad sob story tho. Was in Sea last night burning Aerns and was like cool its only 2:48 AM. ALT+Tabbed out. Oh, its really 4:42 AM.. I have class @ 9.and my g15 LCD doesnt display
Quite an inconvinience.
This fixed mine ~ The other way ppl told me didnt (Been at work all day so if ppl posted this I r sry m._.m)

Can still type/move mouse etc..etc...
How about those of us without an HID listing. ;/

(wireless connection being gay here for some reason, can never stay connected more than 5min ;/)

You do know the older a game and it's coding gets, the easier it becomes to break?Originally Posted by Cruceo
And if it's a client-side problem (which it is, as disabling USB devices is a fix) they can't fix it without updating that. Which would take a heckuva lot longer than 2 hours.
More is broken than your shitty reraise. S-E just jammed a shitload of code into the game and as -always happens when expansions arrive, things break-.
Deal with it. I posted one option to play until they fix the bug that's turning USB devices into snailware. Use it or QQ more.
I played around with the "HID-compliant" stuff and disabled 3 out of the 4 so that I could still have LCD and G-key function on the G15. 29 FPS now. Disabling the last option only increases the FPS slightly, so I guess I can live like this until SE fixes the stupid problem.Originally Posted by jinkazama
This is weird, pre-patch ffxi would take about 40-50% CPU usage. Yesterday I was getting no lag and it was running in FFXI Window mode and about 40-40% CPU usage. I just tried with windower + ffxi windower, no lag and the CPU usage is down to 17-20%. I can resize without blurry text and all. I have USB keyboard and mouse as well.
Perhaps a certain hardware setup just screws it up?
Speculation mode go!
I'm thinking that USB devices is only indirectly related, personally. What I noticed when I looked on my machine (yes, USB keyboard and mouse exhibiting the problem) was that CPU usage by FFXI was staying ~15% all the time, and process priority was set to low. Changing priority on the fly in task manager had no affect unfortunately, but that's flakey anyway. I don't believe this was the classification before yesterday.
My guess is that there's some sort of company or other policy that running in windowed mode means you have to set your process to a lesser priority. This in turn causes the USB device poller reading your shortcut keys (seems that's the diff. between most keyboards having the problem and not?) to out-prioritize ffxi, so it steals focus MUCH more frequently than it is supposed to, and/or just goes to local sleep without releasing focus properly.
If that's the case then the good news is it's a very easy fix for SE, just needs to make their launcher assign the previous priority when launching in fullscreen, and a slightly higher priority (ok, you're allowed to be higher than background tasks!) when windowed.
They still might run into slowdown windowed because iirc there's a limitation within DirectX that prevents windowed tasks from using more than one CPU core, although it might be possible to get around that. So, multi-core players might still see their CPU usage cap out at 50%. I assumed this is what they meant by the warning in the config manager at first.
Best I could muster after disabling everything was about 12FPS.. Blaaaah.
