same thing happens to me. playonline will sit at high priority no problem, but as soon as FFXI starts up, it drops to low priority. when i try to force it back up, it just drops back down to low. like ffxi is forcing itself into low priority for some reason.Originally Posted by Hellfury
Hearing peoples replies, I am seeing a sort of pattern.
A lot of people have reported that 2 box mode drops their second window to low FPS, because it's not a high prio process considered by the PC.
A lot of people are also recieving this FPS normally , which is making me beleive that something on your computers are taking "priority" over FFXI, therefore making it think it's not a process that should be prioritized over whatever else is running in the background.
Try closing down apps one at a time with this mindset and I am sure the solution will show itself.
Don't do it for me, do it for Bob Ross!
(are all the people with crappy FPS using an antivirus?)
Running happy as a clam on both of my computers. However, adding input, the process priority on pol.exe is set to "low", however it's quite cheerfully taking upwards of 60% cpu.
It is taking up 4% of my CPU** when I run it, even when it's set to (and running on) normal mode.
Very interesting![]()

You forgot to mention if it's laggy or smooth ;pOriginally Posted by Matrix
good windower, windowed box not checked, everything but recast on, X2 4600+, Radeon x1900xt 512mb, 3gb ram, windows XP 32bit, 1280*1024 overlay, 2560*2048 background, normally 29 fps
Now failing like shit, 13 fps in port windurst...
using 12-22% CPU
Runing smoothly here, tried windowed mode, it ran ok, but sucked; tried windower, works as always.
P4 3GHz with HT enabled, 1.5GB RAM, 7600GT.
Sadly.. I'm in group 1..
Runs like utter and total shit.
I'm downloading the latest nvidia drivers now.. perhaps that will help.
Edit:
No.. not so much.
Game runs smoothly with just one window open. With 2 windows open, the FFXI in main focus is 29 and staying, but the other goes 1-5ps depending on zone. Someone mentioned priorties and I checked, both were at Low instead of Normal, didn't do anything when I changed though
Edit- Both my pol.exe keep going back to Priority:Low
I got a shit laptop with XP Pro, runs like a dog with SE's implimentation of "windowed mode", but if i turn off all plugins and run with old skewl windower, works fine at a decent frame rate, even macros work.
/shrug.
That's exactly what's happening to me, going to check to see if it does it on my laptop too.Originally Posted by buttson

My bad. I'm one of the people who arent getting it to work on anything. So, laggy.
Note~ I closed EVERYTHING and tried running it, still the same.
So it seems that its FFXI not -demanding- enough CPU power thats causing it. ugh.
So.. nobody has any idea why both windowers keep crashing when I log into FFXI?![]()
Looking again, whichever pol.exe isn't in focus goes to 5-10% cpu usage. While the one in focus goes from 50% -> 90-95%. Neither pol.exe in focus and they are both 50%ish.
Game runs like absolute crap windowed or not. Trying new nVidia driver, turning off AV, etc and seeing.
Anyone have problem for keyboard ingame? Sometime I am move with asdw etc... and just stop working for few second. Then work again. Also sometime my ctrl or alt press for no reason![]()
I use g15 keyboard, window xp, SE windower atm..
My SE version of windower is working fine apart from how my eyes are bleeding at how blurry and bright it is, I am also lagging while typing this which never used to happen with old windower, what have SE done![]()
