    Re: Repose

Hate to take this back to the front page, but I didn't see an exact answer...

Aside from Divine Skill + and Light staff being the obvious things to get, does MND effect Repose? In either landing or staying for the full duration - or is that all determined by skill?

Right now I'm doing Light + AF legs, the rest being Blessed/Errant body and MND in the other slots. I've been giving it a go but wondering what others think.

    Re: Repose

MND has a small effect on magic accuracy, as SE confirmed recently, but the specifics of it are unknown. More testing on magic accuracy needs to be done before we can say what and how much MND helps.

So yes, go ahead and add MND, though you should also consider haste for reducing the recast (other than the blessed pieces which you said you already use).

    Re: Repose

I thought repose was sort of gimmicky at first, until I started playing around with it. Just a minor test, went to see if I can solo banish + repose nuke spartois. Yep, it works, just slow as heck.

Here's something a bit more fun.

That's ES repose, by the way. Still, I thought it was interesting, since dark based sleeps usually don't work on vrtra. Just for information, I have 302 divine skill in my gear setup (not the one I have equipped in the picture).

    Re: Repose

I tried skimming through this thread as much as I could, but I came across this today in apollyon SW

we pulled dark elementals(dark day) and I tried Repose, and it resisted everytime (274 skill)
even ES Repose and still didn't land

so elementals have some special protection for being elementals or for being arcana, I'm not sure which it is

I'm pretty certain Elementals are their own family or whatever it's called. They aren't Arcana afaik

Double dark weather and Darksday aren't going to help any. Even with ES I don't think it's a 100% chance to land.

I really doubt it was the weather, of all the times of doing temenos on lights day on rdm or blm still being able to use sleep and sleep II on sleepable mobs I know that weather wasn't the case here.

I had 4 resist -> ES repose (resist) followed by 2 more attempts (so 7 cast, all resisted)
I even tried repose on an ice elemental we killed with spare time and it was resisted too. these mobs aren't resistant to sleep, as our blms were able to sleep them easy.

ES effects on a mob that is subceptable to that effect will always land (the duartion isn't always full) unless a monster has build up resisance to that effect or has a resist trait (which has it's own special message, that wasn't displayed in my case above)

Tested in Xarcabard during double dark weather, I was able to sleep dark elementals moving around.
So there is just something odd with the elementals in SW, or possibly other mobs aswell

    Re: Repose

I can back up what he's saying, I recently ddi this run, and ES Repose did not work, nor any of the prior/later attempts without ES, on any of the elementals on the last floor.

Hmm, now that you mention it I do recall that none of the elementals there, regardless of element, can be lullabied, either.

    Re: Repose

I just caught up with the topic and figured I would post some of my findings. 297~ Divine Magic + Light Staff ( 6/8 HQ Staves T_T ) , I consistantly stick Repose on pretty much any Dynamis Mob that can be slept.

Athough, sleeping Kho'Do Cannonball in Bastok was a bad idea, as he WTFpwnd me when he awoke...lol...Anyway, fighting Xlotol(Sp..?) I slept his pets with little-to-no trouble, till the 4th cast of it (The 3rd Repose for Each Pet).

Repose works very well on Hecteyes in Dynamis, as well as Tarus in Dynamis-Tavnazia. The normal Hydra Mobs in Dynamis-Beaucedine did resist Repose as I expected. The Nightmare Malboro that spawn in Dynamis-Valkurm off the Mega Boss also can be slept easily by WHM.

Um...thats all that can come to mind at the moment, if anything else pops into my memory i'll post XD , yus.

    Intensifying Cape
    Magnetic Earring/Loq
    HH Bomb
    Tamas/Ether/Troopers rings

and capped Divine Skill, I kept hecteyes in Dynamis Sandy asleep. It was more of a OMG we're lowish manning and pulled too much but I reposed 4 hecteyes over and over until they started to resist. It basically enabled us to clear up a mess we'd created. ended up with a BLM curing the 'tank' party whilst everyone else kept crap asleep. For a considerable time, it way outlasted lullabies.

Had I thought of it, I'd have grabbed my Balrahn's and Apollo's out of my MH before the run. Seriously considering upgrading af pants because I can store the rest and keep these out. I've had a WHM set of Limbus materials for ages.

Made a nice change. I was the only WHM there. I randomnly decided to cast on an hecteyes earlier in the run and discovered it landed fine. I already silence them whenever I can and when we pulled too much I just ran up and helped out the front line with repose.

I need a swift belt for silliness like this - hurrah for WHM haste gear though

All this talk about the Apollyon SW Dark Elementals is nothing new to Bards. We have never been able to lullaby them!

    Re: Repose

    First off: lol Vtra.

Second off: 3 limbus (limbii?) now where i've gone WHM over PLD or MNK and I've noticed this:

Temenos = Repose sticks almost 100% on everything
Apolloyon = You can't sleep shit with Repose, but good luck trying.

We Did South east(? I don't know them by name) with the mandies>birds>opos>dhamel and I wasn't able to sleep anything before we got to the Dhalmel, And I can't be certain that it was my repose that slept it or a blm's sleep. However in Temenos, it was like 100% accuracy. I can't wait to try it on Ultima just for giggles.

Also, I can vouch for repose in Dyna Sandy lasting for full duration through multiple casts.
