Do you only get the lag from Windower, but plays smoothly and cleanly in official windowed mode?

Windowerwindower is just game lag, SEWindower lags all my other applications too.Originally Posted by Khamsin

Im curious - do the people experiencing lag with unofficial windower have the checkmark checked for official windower to be running as well?
I never checked that box (so when i ran ff11 normally, it was plain full screen, tabbing would kill it) after that I went to unofficial windower, which worked.
The only mode I haven't tried yet is the regular non-alt/tabbable mode... I guess I'll try that now but I don't expect much.
recast may be a issue, but its certainly not the only issue (i never use it, as i have recasts in my macros).
For the record, I'm in the fuckin' lagship and it's sub-5 FPS with windower 3.3, crashes with 3.26 for some reason I didn't bother debugging, laggy in SE's windower, laggy in SE's Windower + Windower, and laggy with nothing at all, completely full screen, no windower anywhere.
Funny thing is, my fiancee's comp is having no problem. Things I can figure out: it's not video card determined, both Radeons are having different results. Doesn't seem to be OS based, both are on XP Pro. Doesn't seem to be any regedit problem as mentioned above. I guess all signs point to the game knowing I want to watch Heroes tonight.
I just didn't click on the error message when I loaded mine, dragged the error message off the screen and continued on with it as normal. I'm probably getting 30+ FPS while 2-boxing with draw distance set at max distance. (clicking on the error message WOULD crash windower for me, thus why I just drag it off)
Strangely enough, I can't get the SE windower to work without crashing me.
Has anyone tried setting Windower to "fullscreen mode" and then setting FFXI to "windowed mode"?Originally Posted by devildrifterX
2boxing appears to be borked. If I have any FFXI window focused, the other goes to .9fps(i.e. freezes and d/cs after a minute or so). I'm very unhappy![]()
yeah... i wasnt thinking at all when i updated brandsons dats and it crashed me.. however i do back up all my dats and when replacing them all back to originals i still crash now right after the charactor selection screen ><. anyone have any idea why? or am i just SOL til brandson gets an update up?
Yay, 3.3 is working fine for me, no lag or anything. (Disabled the recast plugin.)
Now if only I didn't have to try to read that butt-ugly, tiny, blurry text.
So I tried it in the ffxi optional windowed mode, and i couldn't even leave my mog house. It was unbearable. So I disabled it and turned everything to a minimum, and logged in regular non-windowed FFXI. Same thing. Booted up 3.3 and the pol login screen was all huge. Then it went to the regular windower 3.3 and alot less lag. About 19 FPS average and very occasional freezing. And this is with no plugins, bare minimum settings. It's still hard to type and controls seem really slippery.
I want it back to how it was before... Think they will do anything about this? Emergency Maint?
Yeah, I have absolutely no issues with windower, but cannot two box... screen out of focus basically freezes. I use alt-tab so usually tab to some selection.. so then I'll hear the little selecting a target "ding" repeatedly until I go back to that window; also made foobar etc, skip. Did some quick tests with Repose and Sleep II (neither overwrite each other) and it was a freakin' pain in the ass... *especially* when the characters had the same field of view.Originally Posted by Vixy

Crashes for me at the accept/decline screen. I'm on Vista, anyone on Vista got it running?
You can manually insert the brandson chatlog font into the UI dat, at least.Originally Posted by Skycaptain

Running 3.2 because I'm a non-conformist (read: lazy) and its working fine.
So, windower working right? Just need to // all the plugins? Is it safe to run it?
I managed to log in fine on Vista on fullscreen, official windowed mode and windower 3.3 no problem. I had the same problems in windowed mode with USB devices but windower 3.3 was fine (with SE windowed mode disabled).Originally Posted by Alistaire
