Um, we're talking about enmity transfer, not tanking.

A Steelshell has roughly 4.4-4.5k HP at level 75, but CC only has about 3.1k HP (more if you Familiar). I tested this back in April, and again after the August update. SE may have buffed jug pet HP this update though, I'd have to test again.Originally Posted by Runningdemon
I'd have to dig around, but pretty sure CC had < 4k easy when I tested. (No familiar, relic hands/all beast affinity)
No biggie though, it works fine for me since I make my alt's BST duo with my PUP, this makes the hate bouncing between PUP and jug a lot easier, get my taru BST hit a lot less.
Even though I have to agree it sounds dumb for snarl not to be available for charmed pets it's still good. To me this is great for those long NM fights where I have to switch pets a fair bit. Now I can just call CC use snarl and not get fucked near the end of the fight (where hate tends to get fucked and I end up taking too many hits from pet changing). Regardless of how long CC lasts, CC has all my hate now not me. I like that a lot.
I think here is when it will shine, if you build up a lot of hate between pet changing and damaging and curing, and your NM simple won't let go of you, you can get a 100% enmity transfer, then release the pet and then go back and charm something worth a crap and get back to business.Originally Posted by Angelsin
Opens up the chance for us to use BST/WAR on Dhalmel jug burns for merits.
or even safety pin on bst/ninOriginally Posted by Runningdemon
that temperance axe sure has me tanking when I go there.
Yeah, I can't temperance there, it's too much work. Between Temp, 19% haste, and full merits, I just go maneater/Retributer? and slack off.
are there any hard and fast tests around of what lvl pets are with capped affinity and af2 hands? I wasn't planning on meriting my bst (since i never, ever use it) but this update has got me a little interested again.. if the stay healing is exponential like some people are saying, jugs might just be able to last through a fight and heal in reasonable time for the next one now..
I thought I remember someone with full merits + monster hands testing jugs using level 5 petrify, and it was shown that they wont always be 75. (Carrie Jugs)Originally Posted by Delekii
Also, from the limited testd I've done on Colibri as BST/WAR "stay" healing starts @ 3% and goes up by 1% a tick, so not too bad.
But SE fails yet again because I now loose my TP when I rest with my pet ;;
My tests show that CC pops at lvl 73-75 normally, and lvl 74-75 with AF2 gloves. Affinity merits don't seem to affect CC's level (at least, a friend of mine with no BA merits popped a lvl 75 carrie), but they might affect her stats, I don't really know. The merits definitely bump up the level of funguar and other capped jugs, though.Originally Posted by Delekii
I spend more time duoing/trioing on the rare occasions I use BST anymore (and ~30-75 was in a 4-BST static.)
The most common thing you ever see us doing is facing away from the mobs! Barely even bother with food since you have to always ride that fine line between you and your pets' hate. Essentially we fight a mere 50% of the time in order to avoid pulling more hate than a fresh Utsusemi: Ni can handle, or we'll find ourselves laughing at one of our dead BST's who WS'd midfight. Hell, Gale Axe for Choke was more common than Rampages.
Now? We can seemingly go full-out and double our killing speed. Snarl looks to be a massive bonus.
BST is still an loljob but for those of us who have/use it, this wins.
could come in hand for bst kite.. Thf SATA bst at start, SNARL and run...
Did they come after you when CC was dead? CC probably won't die in Saruta, but might this be an alternative for sac pulls? >.>Originally Posted by akoru

Couldn't you still do this, but you would have to just waste a jug pet? I know, thats still pretty stupid, but it could be useful in an emergency or on something that is going to take a while to kill.Originally Posted by Lordwafik

In an XP party on Colibri, the BST was able to eat food full time and be tricked on by the THF because they would just immediately switch hate to their pet. I know, lolBST in XP, etc. but it was useful in keeping their damage up with the rest of the party, and besides its too easy to clear Colibri with just about any decent 6 person party.![]()
I'm talking about big hate buildup, when BST fight NMs that require huge amount of pet swaps, afte ra while the BST himself becomes the target far too often depending what he's done in the fight. Now that you can snarl it all away, building hate is np.Couldn't you still do this, but you would have to just waste a jug pet? dunno if anyone cares about lamia #13 lol, but snarl should make it even more retardedly easy for the start
also definitely does some extremely useful things for pet teams
The other night I was messing with this. I ended up just spamming NQ jug pets as buffers. Through multiple attempts I can see the potential of this ability within Exp Parties. When you think about it, you have a free 3-4k buffer just sitting there, slightly more if you reward it while it's taking a beating. That's 3-4k+ the WHM doesn't have to heal the party. I had our THF SATA me as well as myself Provoking and Rampaging to then Snarl and have the NIN try his best to regain hate. The only way he got hate back was from the death of Carrie.
It made for a very fun exp party. We were even contemplating using Accomplice on the WHM or SAM to add to the hate.
Minions im having the same problem... Each time i would use Sic on my CC or any pet,
#1 it would lose hate right when its about to use its tp
#2 if you move your character after using sic, it will lose hate and CC will come back to you
#3 randomly during this process CC loses all hate and the mobs comes to beat up on you
I have almost died 5 times because of this in the new areas while using CC.. SE please fix it![]()
