Indeed. It takes my Taru's CC about 40% of a fight to recover 75% HP (as my Hume PUP and the taru melee VTs). If they changed to a % everything would be fine, but instead it is lame as hell.
Chiv Chain, Hauberk, Woodsman Ring, Garrulous Ring (until I can afford better in there), Suppa/Assault Earring, Ogre Ledelsens, Potent Belt, Amemet +1, Thick Mufflers/Ogre Gloves, Pahluwan Seraweels. My gear is definately not a problem (as for weapons, can't equip Maneater yet cause I'm still one level under it). Its more about timing your strikes well. Obviously, I don't just jump right in if my pet happens to be missing a lot, etc. And I do back off if I do get hate over my pet, which does happen if I am excelling over my pet. I don't know, I guess I was hasty with my words, I used to get hate over pets before Rampage if I didn't control myself. But after Rampage, I would scarely get hate over my pet if I didn't crit or WS. Maybe its because I keep using leech, slime and spider pets since then, all of which are generally strong?Originally Posted by solsovly
Sols's gear is insane though, literally all he's missing really is Adaberk and Guttler.
I have to back up Metah here, there was times even with Crit/Enm merits that I could fight along side my pet from the start and only pull hate on occasions. It all depends on the damage dealt/taken of the pet (which we all should know). The great pond where it was Red Kisser's vs Colibri is a perfect example. Let it hit twice, then start attacking, and if you don't hit multiple crit's in a row, your set until you let the pet go at the end.
Sure if I wanted, I could put all of my equipment on and pull hate most of the time, but as well as the +Slow% that I'd cop, it would be a stupid thing to do.
The nice thing with snarl though is now you don't have to hold back (which used to be the stupid thing to do). At least this applies to jugpets now @ 75 w/ merits (pre-75/merits, on camps like you're describing it's usually fine to step in after the first few hits like you say, but all of us should know that I hope!). Beastmaster hate dynamics really do change a lot at 75 if you start to work on your melee stats/gear heavily.Sure if I wanted, I could put all of my equipment on and pull hate most of the time, but as well as the +Slow% that I'd cop, it would be a stupid thing to do.
Personally, if I start meleeing with CC at the exact same time she starts, I'd tank the entire battle if it wasn't for snarl. From a soloing standpoint I can now solo faster with bst than I can with ninja on EM-T, and my ninja is pretty nicely geared as well. For the sake of arguement I can post gear if wanted, but snarl really is a lifesaver for serious 75-merited bsts.
Oh for sure, even through I've been skilling up Scythe past few weeks, from the messing around in sea, I totally agree that soloing with Jug pets is much more fun now than it was pre-update. Poor CC though, she's going to be abused so much more.
I'm just glad it came with the /stay regen rate adjustment, we'd be going through a buttload of jugs![]()
On a seperate note, to share hate tank with a cc is not hard. Heck, last time I did a jugburn on BST, I left myself in Heca to keep the slow+ up so I had time to get Ni back up.
Getting hate back from a EM/DC pet is not that hard really. All you need is to use blink/SS liberarally and have Gaudy and will not have a problem. Heck, right now I duo my PUP and BST together at 55, and presnarl it was all on the PUP. If you cannot kill something (EM/T) on /WHM or /NIN, you just plain suck.
