Direct 3D failure in FFXI

This is the message I get when I try to go from POL to full screen:

"Terminated as error occurred in Final Fantasy XI. Failed to initialize Direct3D. Please check that this computer has the required specifications to run Final Fantasy XI.(-1)"

I have tried everything that I know of to fix this. I updated direct x, updated my bios, updated windows, and updated my graphics card drivers. I am now in the process of reinstalling FFXI. This is in the legal POL viewer, not windower too. Can anyone shed some light on this problem? Halp, I am going to go through withdrawls soon.

I had the same problem. I fixed mine by going back and reseting my preciously reg-edited resolutions to a standard res.

Didn't wanna make a newtopic so making it here. I am having the same problem, but my resolutions are already at standard, my comp specs are Sony Vaio Radeon 9550 Intel 4 windows xp home

I reinstalled FFXI and it worked but when I copied my old macros back into the folder it wouldn't work. I took the old back out and it worked.
