    Re: Working Parser?

Well I was hoping that there would be a roll-up at the end of the 300pg parser, that would show all the same stat's you provide now, but split into level. Something like a roll-up page in an excel spreadsheet. :D

    Level 40 <mob> (45kills)
    Repairs: 500,000, stat, stat, etc
    Bucky: 986,000, stat, stat, etc.

    Level 41 <mob> (50kills)
    Repairs: 500,000, stat, stat, etc
    Bucky: 986,000, stat, stat, etc.

Personally, I don't want level variances in the parse, especially when trying to compare to any other parse. Like if you compare one merit pt, to another. There is the possiblity that one day, you get 75% of the lower level mobs, while the next day you get 75% of the higher or middle level mobs. So, trying to compare 1 result to another could be misleading.

    Re: Working Parser?

I downloaded directparse and the drops are now being recorded. Thank you!

However, it wouldnt load the drops from old parses and the 'update legacy' option didnt recognize the previous dumps.

I usually create a file for each zone. I.E. "Bhaflau TH4". Each time I farm in that zone, I open the saved file with "continue saved parse". This way I eventually tabulate hundreds of kills.

Is there a way we can update the old parses? If not, I don't mind starting over. I will be farming anyway and its never trouble to have the parser running in the background.

Also, slightly more ambitious, is there a way we can submit loot parse data to a central database? Maybe as part of BG Wiki? Maybe as part of a future Directparse 3.0? With hundreds of people doing this it wouldn't take long to have good droprates on every mob in vandiel.

I just realized I need to start running the loot parser in salvage. Can somone point me to a reference on how to edit my dat files? I wan't to alter some names so the parser will be able to know the difference between things like Madames on different floors. Madame 1st, Madame 2nd... ect.

I wouldn't want the parser to do an automated dump across the internet, for obvious reasons (mostly relating to security issues and peace of mind w/re: keylogging etc.) but manual submission somewhere (to you? ) would be worth pursuing if you're really interested in seeing it happen.

FFXIP used to have something like that. Site is defunct now, but you used to be able to upload crafting results and other data to ffxi.mmorpgparsers.com. It was a cool idea I think, too bad it never really went anywhere when the guy quit FFXI and stopped development.

Haka, my export is having issues.

You can see at the end of this parse the problem: http://www.dakpluto.net/byakko120407.html

LOL... i don't see a problem there at all. >.>;; Any chance you can upload the dump for that?

And sorry, I didn't get to look at the mob counter-attack code last night. Was up til 3:30 tanking Tiamat after normal raids. x.x

You can thank Demo for wiping 3 times, pushing your tanking time out.

    Thanks for the parser.

    Re: Working Parser?

I thought it was just old version parses that were not loading correctly with the "continue saved parse", but I have just learned that parses made with the new version don't load either.

This applies to the pased loot. I havn't tried looking at the damage.

Specifically: When I select "continue saved parse" and select a data file, it loads for a few seconds, but then it shows no data. If I then kill something only the drops from the new kills are shown.

It did this as DVSparse in my experience also

The version of DVSparse that was around for the last 6 months before the expansion has it working right.

if you can, be more specific than that.

to my knowledge it's been broken since at least 1.7.2 but I didn't pay attention before then; it's possible that it is configuration specific.

On the Top a DVSParse 1.7.3 dump file continued with DVSParse 1.7.3. I didnt kill all those at once. That file was continued a dozen times or more.

In the Middle a Directparse 2.1 dump file continued with DirectParse 2.1. No data is loaded.

On the Bottom is the DVSParse 1.7.3 dump file from the top continued with DirectParse 2.1 Mob and kills are there, but not drops and percents. Strangely DirecParse understands the old DVSParse dumps better than it understands its own.

Continuing a parse made with 2.1 loads items for me. I have both battle and raw chat log selected though.

Did the Lil' Devil website go down, or did they move where you can download FFXIP?

    Re: Working Parser?

If mob level would be too complex and/or would require major changes, how about trying to split the parse by exp? I noticed in the raw data that exp gained is already tracked. Just not sure if its possible to sub split, but it might be similar to the loot split?

Is there a way to get all the raw data into excel? Or some sort of format that I could sort/filter on my own?

ok; there's two separate issues (that aren't really related)

    1) mob level isn't something that sits around in memory like, say, the position of the mob does. this is why getting mob level is complex enough that it's not worth doing for a parser.

    2) splitting the parse data up the way you're suggesting would require an overhaul of the output forms. (notice that all the output right now is accumulated output).

"raw data"? do you mean the raw chat log? we aren't actually parsing the exp data (it's treated as text and not battle information).

Is there a way to get all the raw data into excel? Or some sort of format that I could sort/filter on my own?
not at this time; might be able to implement something but it won't have exp information unless we just gave you the raw chat log.

(the reason you're requesting these features isn't really within the scope of what a battle statistics parser is for - which is why directparse isn't currently doing them and probably won't implement in the near future. It was never meant to help you pick specific gear pieces. just to evaluate your overall performance.)

Releena claims to have a fix for the resumed parse loot issue. There's also a checkin note saying they've added the function to update legacy parses. I'll be testing this tonight and see about getting a fresh release for you.

What I would like from you is one of your legacy parses, if you don't mind. Just attach one to a post or PM it to me please.

    Re: Working Parser?

There's a new release of DirectParse (2.1.1) for anyone who cares about resuming loot parses.

There are also a few bug fixes in this release involving strange entities being entered into the player / enemy databases. For example, missed WSs used to enter the WS name into target's database, resulting in mob TP moves coming up as player names.

Follow the link in my sig to download.
