Think I worked it out. 1.6.5a (zip or installer) is adjusted so that standard customizations of timestamp should work, regardless of color. It's still entirely possible to create versions that KParser won't understand, but it's impossible to account for everything that could possibly be there.

I honestly have no idea how I ended up with the format I did. I think I was just screwing around with it one day and ended up with that. You can actually get it to display day/month/year too, but that takes up way too much space haha.

Cool beans, thanks for the fix.

Is it possible to parse a log file generated by Logger after the fact? I tried setting the data source to log files but I can only select a directory, which has several dozen log files in it, and when kparser ran it locked up on me.

Log file parsing is for the log files that FFXI generates, not the log files that Logger generates. KParser can't parse the Logger parse files because they've stripped information out that KParser needs. Well, technically it would be sort of doable, but it would be far more difficult, and far more likely to end up with broken results.

I have had a few cases in the last week where Kparser crashes. These are the conditions:
    * Using Default Parse
    * Leave it running for a while (maybe half an hour)
    * Open a new tab (specifically the Defense tab) without stopping the parse.
-> KParser gives me the windows 7 "wheel"
-> Taskmgr -> Force quit it after half an hour or so of waiting.

System is Windows 7. It is up to date with all the patches. I'm running Kparser version 1.6.3.0 as administrator. Is this an issue that was fixed in 1.6.5? I will update when I get home tonight and didn't realize it had been updated until I checked just now.

1.6.5 made a change that limited the time it would wait when trying to acquire a particular mutex to 2 seconds. It's possible you got hit with the issue with the previous version where it would wait forever.

By the way, now that the thread is bumped... I'm sure there is a way to see the number of procs you've done, since I'm sure I've used it in the past, but I parsed yesterday's Dyna and couldn't find it for the life of me.

Am I dreaming, or it's just that I suck at finding things?

That's something I keep meaning to add. At the moment you can get it by selecting Arena chat type, copy the chat log, put it in a text editor, and count how many instances of "staggers the fiend!" there are. Very ham-fisted way of doing it.

I'll put something together eventually, but you should also note that it can't distinguish between mobs of the same name. So, if you have 3 mobs, proc all 3, then kill them in order, the first mob will have 3 procs associated with it and the other two mobs won't have any. That only becomes an issue when you're trying to isolate sets of procs in conjunction with fights, and is probably not a common exercise.

Hmmm... I probably counted them manually, then. Glad to know I couldn't find it because it wasn't there, haha.

I'm trying to get KParser to work, on an XP system, I have .net Framework 4.0 installed. When I try and get KParser working, it requests I install 3.5, and refuses to work without it.

I was told by someone I don't particularly trust in this matter to install 3.5 as my system is. It strikes me as odd to install an older version of software while a more recent version is still installed. Should I uninstall 4.0? Is there anyway to get KParser working without bothering with 3.5?

Yes, you should also install 3.5. Although common software version-related knowledge would have you think that 4.0 contains everything 3.5 would, this is not the case. There are some compatibility issues which 3.5 resolves that 4.0 cannot.

To add on to this, 3.5 and 4 can coexist happily; no need to uninstall .NET Framework 4.0 (and that will probably break any apps that depend on 4.0 specifically).

I'm having some odd issues with Kparser. As far as I can tell, I have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 and both SQL's on my computer (Windows 7, 64 bit), yet it doesn't seem to be working right. It'll selectively (seems random) parse sections of the chat log (mostly stuff like /say and NPC talk), but not combat, and never much of it. Sometimes it'll show me doing some random amount of standard melee damage, but it's very very rare (one or two melee hits out of a couple hours of meriting.). I've never seen it parse a buff or anything. I'm not sure what to make of this. I've got Run as Administrator checked, I've got UAC disabled anyway, I uninstalled and reinstalled all above mentioned needed software (including Kparser about a dozen times). I'm just not sure what else to do. I do use Timestamp, but I thought that issue was resolved already, so I haven't given that much thought. Any help would be wonderfully appreciated.

I just tried Kparser with Timestamp unloaded and Kparser just becomes unresponsive every time, oddly enough. It's not like normal unresponsiveness either. The window comes to the front for me any time I tab to it, but nothing is actually clickable and it's not doing anything.

Does it generate an error log? Check Help/About, and click the Errors button, and see if it's putting anything in there.

Nope, nothing. I just noticed that if I bring up a previous parse after I've gone on to do something else, it shows some of what was parsed sometimes, but it only shows what was done while Kparser itself was unresponsive, from what I can tell.

Noticed the translate in the chat window the other day.
When I click on a line to translate I get the "thinking" mouse icon but nothing happens, does this option no longer work?

I think Google may have shut down their translation API service. I'll have to check into the current status of it.

Yeah they moved it over to a paid service now. I believe bing may be free as an alternative.

Kparser is now non-functional on the test server. It starts fine, and you can start parsing, but nothing gets recorded.

Pretty much like old memloc issues.
