Just bad luck, keep trying.

Here's my planned build for my Ice Elemental:
Innate: Damage Resistance Bonus/Resist Blind
Instant Phalanx
Instant Stoneskin
Instant Ice Spikes (for chigoes)
Arcana Killer (for mimics and other elementals)
That'll leave me with 78/85 at Lv50.
I can't decide if I should replace Arcana Killer with BLM traits for MAB. Any suggestions would be welcome
EDIT: After watching my Elemental in action, I'm thinking about dumping the spikes in favor of black magic scrolls.
EDIT2: Now I'm actually reconsidering making a new Air Elemental since it will have Aeroga II. That way, it won't need the black magic scrolls. And I'm assuming that Air Elementals can't get silenced. Hmmm...
ya i dont think spike dmg is as important as blm scrolls or MAB
not sure if they can be silenced, don't think ive seen it happen
Has anyone played with a super-tank Light Elemental?
I've been thinking of getting a Light Elemental with:
Damage Resistance Bonus (Innate)
Magic Resistance Bonus (38FP)
Instant Phalanx (23FP)
Instant Stoneskin (17FP)
MP Max+50 (5FP)
That'll put him at 83/85 FP at Lv50
With the right temperments (somewhat tame and very aggressive), it should be able to nuke with Banishga II and Holy. I'd have to play with it to see if it will still buff and cure with these temperments.
Speaking of light elementals, do they Repose now?
No sign of Repose on Light Elementals.
Still haven't found a good temperment for it.
I also have an Ice Elemental, and I was wondering if anyone knew how to get it to cast Sleep and Stun on enemies when they start casting magic or doing a WS.
sleep would be a dark spirit spell
stun would be a thunder spirit spell
...
Okay, I've currently got a level 11 Wind Elemental with the following:
Damage Resistance Bonus (innate) level 26
Magic Attack Bonus level 26
Instant Stoneskin level 27
Instant Phalanx level 26
He's Somewhat Wild. I finally took it from Very Defensive to Somewhat Aggressive in my last battle. It was still Somewhat Defensive in that last battle, and mostly he just stands around getting his ass kicked. What exactly is my desired temperament for a chain-nuking elemental? Very Wild and Very Aggressive, Very Tame and Very Aggressive, or do I need to tone down one or both of them?
And now that I'm thinking about it, would I be better off dropping Magic Attack Bonus for Intelligence Bonus to free up 7 FP while improving my magic defense? Champions are almost always Light or Dark Eles.
Also, not positive what to do with my last FP when I level to 50. If I switch to INT Bonus, leaning towards Arcana Killer and HP Max Bonus.
Job Trait: BLM will give you a ton of MAB for very cheap. If you want it to chain nuke all elements you'll need to give it BLM Scrolls, otherwise it will only cast aero/aeroga/choke. Otherwise, a nuker needs to be very aggressive I think.
My dark ele at 50 has Damage Resistance (innate), Attack +15% (innate lolz), Ice Spikes Lv50, Phalanx Lv50, BLM Scrolls, Job Trait: BLM, and it does quite well, though there are a few times that I wish I had stoneskin. It is very tame and somewhat defensive, causing it to sometimes cast Blind, but it also sleep nukes mobs which is pretty cool (Sleep II => aga right away).
edit: champ on pandy is a very aggressive and somewhat tame dark ele with BLM scrolls, nukes every 5-10 seconds.
I'm trying to get my Earth Elemental to have stun-nuke behavior, but I wasn't sure what temperments to shoot for to get that to work. I'm thinking it should be Very Tame and Somewhat Aggressive through spamming "Watch your opponent, then attack!" and "Give'em more bite!". However, I'm still not sure this is the right way. Any help, please?
Sorry for the semi-necro, I figured this would be the right place to ask.
My Ice Ele (Very tame/very aggressive, Black mages scrolls and the support/buff plates) does well against most mobs on my server, however when some JP guy uses his Dark Ele it starts casting crap like Shock and Bio II while that particular Dark Ele spams Firaga back-to-back.
I've also noticed against an Earth Ele that battles would just be an Aero II(my ele to earth ele) vs Firaga(other way around) spamfest as well.
I assume that temperament can lead mobs to cast only spells the opponent is weak against... but is there any way to make them cast better spells (Aeroga II instead of Aero II, ga 2 nukes instead of dots on Dark ele...)?
Also -assuming the situation is more or less the same on all servers- do champions end up being either enpetrity chigoes, dark eles and fang rush spamming wyverns everywhere? Does anyone build a specific counter for each of those?
As far as I can tell, there's a few issues with the AI against certain mobs or mob types. I've noticed it most often against Dark elementals, wyverns, and bunnies of all things. I'm not sure if it can be fixed or not, because most of my pets will not act right against those mobs.
Quick answer to the last part, yes, people make pets just to kill a certain type of champ. I have a ghost that eats most elementals alive, a roc that destroys enpetrify chigoes, and for wyverns, I don't see many wyverns, but I have a ram that loves to use petribreath against any tp move.
Unfortunately on my server, mimics are still the champs most of the time, with dark elementals the rest.
