unless you have evidence to the contrary, that's close enough for me.
Can someone translate this for me?

Why is it again that you won't try to translate it yourself using babblefish and that people have to prove you contrary instead of vice versa?

Oh, I don't care what the results were one way or another, I never said it wasn't true, just that there was no testing done so it wasn't a clear cut answer. Its just that I'm trained as a scientist, and as such I have hunches about things but generally don't accept anything as fact until there is solid testing and evidence to support it. I tried translating the page using babelfish but received an error loading the page repeatedly, which is why I didn't do it myself. Thanks.

If you were a real scientist you'd go test this shit yourself if you had a hunch that the whole community was wrong.

I never said the entire community was wrong, just that there wasn't any testing to support it. The closest so far is a minimal test involving charm resist rates, which for a video game I'd say is close enough to make a correlation.

Apollo's, of course. That's like asking Aquillo's or Jupiter's when casting Burstaga XIV.

Another improper analogy. When casting nukes, aquillo's affects the resist rate, while jupiter's is affecting the MAB+%. When we're talking about Repose, we're talking about straight resist rates (akin to silence, gravity, etc).

Re: Repose (Neptune or Apollo Staff)?

I've long been a doubter of the "+15% accuracy" stat since it seemed to just arise out of the "must be +15% since damage is +15%", but I've also never had any evidence with which to dispute it. In any case, somewhere over on alla there was a fairly solid test conducted that clearly showed that even the corresponding NQ elemental staff is better than the skill (Aquilo's) staff for reducing resist rates to BLM nukes. I believe you can find a link to this test somewhere in the BLM forum sticky. It's certainly not proof that the same will hold true for casting repose, but I'd be willing to bet some gil that it does.

BTW, the elemental staves are +15% damage, not +15% MAB. The two are not the same. Since you consider yourself to be a scientist, you might actually enjoy doing some reading about the damage formula.

I understand your "there aren't any tests" argument because I've used it MANY times myself. But in this case, the tests DO exist, have been published, reviewed, and accepted by more than a few people.

The staves DO increase accuracy. You land Silence more reliably with Auster's, etc.

I propose we go on another forum and ask people to do the research for us, in the name of science!

Question: just wondering, did you have to create an account just to make yourself to be an idiotic meat bag? Statement: you won't last long here. Recommendation: in the future, provide your own testing if you believe everyone else is wrong.

Re: Repose (Neptune or Apollo Staff)?

i did a 100 casts silence with thanatos baselard (that knife with enfeebling skill, that i think i just mispelled) vs 100 casts silence with wind staff vs 100 casts silence with auster's staff way back in the day, trying to decide wether it was worth keeping my hq staff or not. i do not remember the exact numbers (altho i can find them if you like) but i do remember that the results made me decide to stay with my hq staff.
