When I attempt to install it It doesn't detect my PS3 60gb's HD. Any idea? My firmware is up to date.

do you have the system data from the ps store?
Yes. Is there anything else I have to do other then download it from the store?
I am having the same issue right now... PS2 System Information d/led and installed, and its an older 60 gig version of the PS3 that plays all my other PS2 games just fine.
Looking for an answer for this as well all over the interwebs!
From a post on Zam:
I'm honestly not willing to accept this sort of "We don't know why our disk doesn't work, but you are boned for now and it is Sony's problem" answer... but that's all I've scrounged up so far.I just got off the phone with a representative at SE's Customer Service, who was awesome and really informative. He told me that players who are attempting to install FFXI fresh on either the 60 gig or 80 gig PS3(meaning no previous installations), are unable to because for some reason, the PS3 is not reading the disc correctly at start, and that is why I am getting an error.
He confirmed that as of now, the only way to get around this is with a previous FFXI PS2 POL disc from the stand alone expansions, and then installing the rest after that from the collection disc. Of course, FFXI wasn't designed for the PS3, so he said if anything, hopefully Sony will release another system update or patch for the PS3 that will allow us without any previous FFXI PS2 discs, to freshly install the '08 collection on the PS3. Until then , it looks like we're SOL.
It sucks too because the whole reason I bought the '08 collection for PS2 was due to the fact that my pre-ordered copy of WotG for the PC won't be in stores until Friday, and I wanted to be able to play with my friends the moment the expansion went live, heh.
Thanks for this post. I was driving myself insane trying to make it work. I threw in a ToAU disk and it seems to be doing it's thing. Hopefully it will work. Will post more findings as I work through this.
EDIT: POL installed successfully. When it asked if I wanted to install ToAU I said "Eat a dick" and took it out and put in the Vanadiel Collection and it took over from there.. gonna be up for hours doing this.. fucking SE is win.
EDIT: lol... and here we go with the 2694 files to download.. (corrected this from the prev 17000 files.. still had to check all of them though.. which took an hour) why the hell wasn't this already included in the disk..? No wonder new users want to /wrist before they ever even create a character. -______-
EDIT: Okay, after hours and hours of installing and downloading and waiting for the registration time outs and such... viola! It does work and we're into the game from the PS3. Again, thanks for this post, saved me alot of headache. Hope you get yours working^_^

Not sure exactly what to do here, I don't have Vanadiel Collection just the FFXI and individual expansion discs.
Could someone please explain step by step what to do?
Sorry just having a hard time here. :/
Edit: Found out what was wrong, I had to do a system update for my PS3 (something I kept putting off) and then I went to the POL viewer, selected install, and it worked.

Why not, Sony is notorious for breaking their reverse compatibility.Originally Posted by Hawktalon

So am I correct to assume that you have the PlayStation 2 version of Vana'diel Collection 2008 and Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion disc, and don't have the original game and the first two expansions?Originally Posted by Stack
If so, does this mean I just need the minimum of PS2's TOAU and Collection 2008 in order to install it into my PS3?
Just curious, but does the PS3 suffer from any potential fps spikes that the PS2/PC does?
Bump. D:
To add to my previous question, can anyone else add to the fact(?) that you cannot install FFXI with just the Vana'diel 2008 collection on the PS3?
Fixed with the PS3 software update v2.01 released yesterday (12/17).
I'm using the 60GB PS3.
I didn't see anything about that in the update notes, but then again, I was already fully installed with FFXI so it didn't matter at this point ^^; Good to know that the collection works though, in case I buy it at some point so I don't have to worry about keeping all those other expansion discs around for eventual re-install...Originally Posted by Dayle
Now if they would only fix it so I can use a bluetooth keyboard directly on FFXI, rather than bluetooth via a USB dongle...
