Not to mention the AF, merit categories, and other bonuses surely coming as SE refines the job (refer to PUP's evolution as an example on how SE can 'fix' underwhelming jobs). I can't imagine how well I could have leveled BLM without the wizard's gloves and I am expected SCH to have a similiar situation. I wouldn't be shocked to see 3 pieces with elemental, healing, and enfeebling bonuses (maybe another for enhancing/dark skills) or every piece having either a + x value to all 3 or further improvements to Dark and Light Arts.Originally Posted by Evelyn
Speaking of merits, for fun, I'm guessing:
Strategem Charge Down
Helix spells Recast Down
Light Arts Potency
Dark Arts Potency
SE really need to bring some mobs that need a regular skillchain -> MB, cant be tpburned or manaburned and can yield as much xp as a regular tpburn, that could make Blm leveling nice again and fit Sch at the same time.

It will sub RDM or WHM to keep itself alive, like a BLM does, but not to be a sole support role.
Change your mindsets to scholar as another BLM position rather than another WHM position.
Considering it's top-level spells are Black Magic, I already have. It's got just enough variety that doing this as my "big job" for WoTG sounds good (#1 was RDM, #2 is Corsair.). No reason to take it too far past 37 yet, thanks to no AF and such...save for testing the new spells in undergeared setups for future use.Originally Posted by Lordwafik

I don't think most BLMs use -aga spells in manaburns because they have to nuke multiple mobs, but more because they can do more damage with an -aga3 than with a standard 4. But I agree with wafik, it seems that our primary role is to buff mages while holding our own in magic DD or healing departments, not outright replacing a mage in any given setup.
Ok thats the last time I speculate on this kinda shit. More info!
Has anyone tried casting multiple, different storm spells on themselves? Does the new one take precedence, or do they work kinda like elemental enfeebles?
Speaking purely from a pudding camp mindset, SCH is actually going to seem pretty damn good at it. Give yourself Ice/Thunder weather nearly full-time (due to the prevalence of weather in Zhayolm), have Tier3 nukes at a reduced cost and cast time, and "pull" with Helices to fully utilize their DoT. While I don't think it'll replace a BLM anytime soon, the fact that it offers a decent level of offensive output, along with some safety (Cure4, Shell4, etc.) means that it'll at least be usable.Originally Posted by Gilthas
Talking out my ass here, but i'm guessing that only the most recent one will take effect. I can't think offhand of any time i've ever seen two different weather effects occurring at the same time.Originally Posted by Evelyn
I know only one will work at a time, but I'm thinking if they work like elemental enfeebles (like, earth weather spell on > cast thunder weather > thunder has no effect) vs. simply being last cast.
I checked around and can't find anything regarding this. Does anyone know where the weather spells are sold for scholar? At 37 right now... so gonna be needing them soon.![]()
next to the scholar start npc in eldieme - he's slightly south of her - sells all the scholar specific spells. (27k-80k or so? not sure on exact amounts)
They actually ninja dropped those prices to like 7k and up from there
Just checked, highest spell is like 20k.Originally Posted by Maksudyst

I don't understand whats wrong with the current system that SE ---NEEDs--- to make a mob where SC damage is good?
The only people SooL are people with jobs that no one wants for anything. That is SMN, PUP, and soon to be SCL.
If you have the choice between 5 BLM + BRD or 4 BLM + SCL + BRD. You are probably going to pick the 5 BLM MB PT. For HNMs and for EXP. 10% weather bonus isn't that much. I have my doubts as to if a SCL can make up for the lost damage of that BLM in its buffs to the other BLM and its DoTs (nukes and helix).
Also, the Helix Spells are DoT. Which eliminates sleeping? Will that ALWAYS matter? Of course not, but it could. Could mean the difference between someone eating dirt or not in a lot of situations.
Oh i dont want TPburn nerfed at all, but it wouldnt be too hard to make skillchain-MB viable for xp with some imagination.Originally Posted by BRP
Feel free to toss zam, zamed or whatever, I really dont care, I TPburn merits on my Rdm just fine and dont care but I liked the pace of Skillchain-MB partys, it was quite more relaxing than TPburns.
I dont even say it because I would like to level Blm or something allready 75 so meh, but IMO the game should get some balance back and make blm a viable option for xp and at the same time Sch could fit in that role and not be damned to solo level pets and a gazillion of qiqirn.
But ok zam zam zam etcetc tpburn should be the only way /end
