Unless the "5 ticks" was with Modus Veritas up, there would be no way to have it only be half duration. 30 seconds (10 ticks) would still be all kinds of suck.Modus Veritas

We should wait for a NA to get Scholar to 65, I have a feeling the JP is screwing with us.![]()

For the recast, do you know the recast time can be further lowered to less than 1/2 by Haste/FastCast/HasteGear? For instance, if you use Celerity with Reraise and with Haste on, does the recast go to 21 sec or 30 sec?
Also, for Manifestation, when it says doubles the casting time and triples the MP cost, does the recast time of the spell you use double as well?
My money is on 30 seconds, not 21. So far the -50% MP cost JA has functioned only on the unmodified costs--don't see why it would be any different for the other JA's.Originally Posted by Kaeko
I haven't checked the 50% cast time reduction one yet for recast effect. I did notice that when using accession, it gave +50% recast. I had /rdm on and when using Accession+Sandstorm, my recast jumped up to somewhere around 2m40s from the original 1m48s with Fast Cast I (just a ballpark from what I saw on the menu). If the 50% cast reduction abilities do reduce your recast by 50% as well, I would assume the haste won't stack on it since it's at the recast reduction cap.Originally Posted by Kaeko
I can test tomorrow for you, I'm just going to bed right now and I'm super sleepy.
Ok thanks. It's good it only seems to be +50% rather than +100%. I was worried if you were going to use something like Manifestation + Bind/Gravity, which have already long recasts. I think 90 seconds is something people can live with with fast cast and haste gear.Originally Posted by Lilswitche
Between Gravity and Bind, is this even really an issue to begin with?Also, the Helix Spells are DoT. Which eliminates sleeping? Will that ALWAYS matter? Of course not, but it could. Could mean the difference between someone eating dirt or not in a lot of situations.
Would be fun to see a Bookburn consist of casting a different element of DOT on the mob each, and having them all spam gravity/binds on the mob while running away.Originally Posted by Zilong
Of course, this assumes their DOTs stack, which I'm kind of doubting,
I suppose this'll depend on if they're 1 effect per mob, like the threnodies, or if non opposing ones stack like the elemental enfeebles. I can't wait for an english speaker to get high enough to test this and see if they do stack seeing as it looks like my SCH isn't going to be anywhere near 60+ for a while yet.Originally Posted by Wizerd

Yes, and if it's a Bookburn, each SCH can cast their own applicable weather spell on themselves.Originally Posted by miokomioko
a question for those with the weather spells
does the weather effect inflicted behave like normal weather effects (ie there is a random chance the +10% can kick in), or does it give you a permanent obi effect without actually wearing obi's ?
I'm not sure if anyone has tried this yet, but I just did blm/sch to see how parsimony stacked with conserve MP while omw back to leveling SCH (only 12 lol). 49blm/12sch with dark arts using parsimony. I used Warp and expected to just see 50mp warp, but to my surprise conserve MP does stack with it. Warp only cost me 25mp total. I went from 439 to 414mp. This can be neat while using some high-cost spells, but not something to sub scholar over I guess. Figured I'd post that finding. ^^;

I'm thinking we may need to rely on buffing different mages with different element weathers half the time though. Take tiamat for example, buff one blm with thunder for nukes, buff yourself with water for helix, buff summoner with wind for cheaper pred claws (idk any better use for a smn), maybe light on a whm and stone on a brd or rdm for elegy/slow. Its gonna end up looking like a haste/refresh cycle but at least we're being effective with the times we don't have any charges left. Plus with that setup we're still left with ice, fire, and dark, but since tiamat resists ice and fire can still salvage dark out for a dark helix in addition to a water one?
Pure speculation but unless we can get both the spell recast and the charge recast down I don't think we'll be helping too many 3blm/brd/rdm/sch setups.
Perhaps I'm weird in thinking this way, but I think the biggest problem with this Scholar job is the buff icon for Dark Arts and Light Arts being exactly the same thing. Way too many times have I been wasting way more mana than I need to simply because I was in Light Arts by mistake and tossing out nukes.
