Helix spells are Enfeebling magic. It says so on the "other"(?!?!) wiki.

So goooooooooooooooo Enfeebling stacking gear~ However, with all nuke-type spells, the more MAB you have, the more initial damage you do, And if the ticks that come off are equal to the initial damage, then stack up on less resist gear and MAB. Also, like Bio2, the higher your skill (and level), the longer it lasts. So buff up those spells as much as you can, and at Lv75, I'm sure you have a pretty strong DD when nuking without something OTHER than Earth (which, lets be honest, EVERYONE uses at Lv75).

Not to mention that Luminohelix, Light-based, is the Lv75 spell, not Ionohelix, the Thunder-based one. Yey use for Apollo's Staff! ~

This isn't necissarily the case, and I don't think I've seen any research posted yet that MAB affects helix spells. For example, MAB doesn't do anything for Drain, it's purely Dark Magic skill based.

Don't get me wrong, as wielder of a Novio I HOPE that MAB helps, I just don't want to jump to conclusions :D

Not that it's the best proof but again, there is one NPC who casts Helix spells and does crap intial damage and there is one who casts them and does huge intial damage. I am pretty positive something boosts the damage, whether it be INT, MAB or just weather effects needs to be determined.

When I started shortly after NA launch I thought SMN/BLM would be the coolest thing in the goddamn world. I hope people don't take /SCH to mean that that is actually a viable combination, now that we know that it's not cool at all.

Hmm.. I was about to admit that /SCH might not be entirely too bad for situational SMN use if it lets them land silence or sleep or something somewhat reliably. Same for a somewhat reliable aspir. But then I realized Scholar doesn't have any enfeebling magic, not even gravity from the demo let alone sleep or silence. So all it would really let a SMN do is aspir while still being able to sneak/invis, cure, raise, etc. Of course, that's at the expense of erase, -nas, curaga, stoneskin and blink. But hey, at least they could cast Regen II!

Sorry for delay.

I didn't make too much progress today, I am getting married on Saturday and still had lots to do today. I'm up to 62(yay! desert boots!), I'm not sure if the helices stack or not. Right now I'm exping on Wootzshells in Mt. Zhayolm and Geohelix is hitting for 50-60 damage (I got Ebullience to kick it up to 70 a few times). They con IT to me and it rarely resists.

I'm not sure how I can test which type of magic the helix spells are(I have a 75 RDM so my skills are capped for awhile), or how to see if MAB effects it (I only have +5 MAB from Moldavite availible to me). If anyone has any ideas how to do this I'd be more then happy to test it out, I just don't know how. I should hit 63 soon, so when a friend logs on I'll run to Ballista and see if they will stack.

I need to do more testing regarding the effects of weather on helices. The description says "strongly effected by weather" but I haven't seen any significant damage change whatsoever in EXP and the mobs aren't lasting long enough for the helix to wear. By this point I'm sure it's duration but I still need to find some mobs with enough HP to test it properly.

I apoligize for not much progress today. I'm dying for level 65 to try out Modus Veritas.

How long does it last on ITs and can you nail down the tic rate?

The only reliable way to see what type of magic a spell is would be to see what type of skill-up you get.

but seriously, good work on scholar, I wanted to level it fast but I got too caught up in Campaign, so I'm levelling it now at a very bleh slow pace.
