He's a little harder the Roc/Sim/Serket. He has high defense and nasty TP moves. I'd say he's more on par with say... in between Behemoth and Fafnir, bring BLMs.

I don't think this will ever have any merit other then some quest.... he has a general name, like "Sandworm" thats a mob type.... If it was an HNM or would be getting a loot table i'd think it be a NAMED mob.

The [King] Behemoth, Simurgh, Roc, Adamantoise, Hydra, etc. aren't "named" mobs, and 3-4 of those names (depending on whether you call them rocs or not) are mob-types. (There's Khim too, but I was under the impression that it's supposed to be the original chimera or something, hence no special number or name. Also, "Cerberus" is the accepted name for "cerb-type" NMs.)

That's not to say I don't agree with you, but the naming factor doesn't mean much.

    They're Greater Birds, not Rocs.

And I'd call Simurgh a name. It's not like they just called it a peryton or an abraxas or a diatryma. This one is named Simurgh.

Says who? Their drops call them "giant birds", Pankration calls them "rocs".

When it shows up in the log, it's called "the Simurgh".

Pretty irrelevant but, I've read a series of fantasy novels that contained Simurgh character, the characters always referred to her as "the Simurgh"(even though there was only one).

Maybe it's a title of sorts? Lol. Does it really matter, regardless?

Popped in Sauromugue [S] also, seems to pop randomly between the neighboring zones to jeuno...

    First one on Seraph,

Defense as strong as Cerberus if not greater, and garuda/diabolos do great dmg:

Hits like a champ... downs a standing pld in about 4-5 hits (3 crits):

    The ever-infamous Nikanoru macros:

Does an aoe-ability drain including rr/food/stoneskin, very hard to land gravity and non-dot debuffs, can probably be done w/ 12 with a pld/nin kiter, fought in a similar fashion to kirin, want to avoid aoe as much as possible.

Much <3 for the Dune reference, I was thinking the same thing. :D Too bad he doesn't scatter into tiny sandworms after he's killed.
