Little disappointing?

Why do people keep saying "but SE is gonna add more content, this isn't all of the expansion!!1" like it's some kind of valid counterpoint? This thread shouldn't need a disclaimer; the implied idea is the expansion is disappointing right fucking now at this moment of its release. If it's true that most of the implemented zones are re skinned four year old zones, and this is true:

Because it is a valid counterpoint? You can't make a fair judgment of the entire expansion without seeing what else is added in for the future.

Since you obviously didn't read what I wrote and quoted me anyways, this thread is about WotG at release. Is anything unclear about that? Everyone knows SE is going to add more content later on, it doesn't need to be said. Why not compare and contrast the previous expansions at their initial release and add to the discussion instead of crying?

I'm having more fun in WoTG's release then ToAUs. I didn't have a melee job so I couldn't do those "super awesome merit pts", and so I couldn't get my turbin for quite a while. While on the other hand WoTG kicks ass and I'm not finding myself bored or playing another game while I wait for events.

Yeah, Taou was QUITE boring. It focused so heavily on "grind" type events at it's release. Where WoG kinda sucked you into a story that you really couldn't avoid. I'm so in heaven at the moment exploring the zones. I've actually been talking to every NPC I mean to find out whatever information I can because everything is just so interesting. I didn't find myself doing that for Toau and I started some number of months before CoP release, so I didn't really get into all that.

It's also possible that Toau was not quite as exciting because it was an unfamiliar place.

I, so far, have no problems with what I've seen in this expansion.

I don't think people really care about what SE might put in this hollow expansion in the immediate future, as much as what's going to happen in the long run.

With only 400mb to work with from the actual disc and the lack of really anything else other than story/campaign plans announced, why shouldn't you be bitchin? Too early to bitch? Might as well start doin it now, lord knows how long it takes for SE to do anything

Are these numbers from their individual discs? I'm pretty sure when they make collections/later releases, they add more data to make the initial download smaller. It would probably still be smaller if music and maps make up most of disc, but I think most of the expansions content(like quests, missions, monsters and cutscenes) come from the initial update.

The original discs though, just as it came out? For example, I doubt you have the original Zilart expansion disc.

I am not bitching to bitch. I am just bored.

It only took me a few hours to basically beat all the content. Excluding the travel time of running places, the expansion has about 20minutes worth of content in it. Only thing I have left to do are do all the available OP quests/missions.

the two jobs don't particularly interest me (i know i am in the minority here).

Dancer is being leveled by everyone and their mom, and from the looks of it doesn't have much place in endgame. No I don't think its too early to tell

SE failed Scholar on pretty much every angle possible. Barring some unforseen change in the dynamics of the game, its going to be lolSCL.

No HNMs, no quality gear (save the new boots which are an amenity)

I was really excited for this expansion, REALLY excited. The only word i can use to describe how I feel is underwhelmed. I just wanted more at the start, something I could really sink my teeth into in the here and now. I don't want to have to wait 2 monthes after i paid my money to get that feeling.

This is what I'm hoping for. ToAU brought forth good EXP camps, one nice HNM and some other adittions, along with Assault, Salvage and Nyzul Isle. I'm hoping WoTG has more to offer than Campaign in the long run...

The original US releases, yes. Zilart is the only number that could be a bit biased as it had been running for a few months when FFXI was launched in NA.

I think campaign is far superior to besieged, i did one earlier and got a total of 1200 exp in like 8 mins of work. When SE adds more shit to campaign it'll become even more fun, I did around 1.5merits just running around fucking off in campaign today.

forreal people need to stop QQing about reusing zones or whatever the hell people crying about and actually go to campaigns and fuck around, shit load of fun and great side way to make exp, and probably unless they do something stupid is only gonna get better.

Ok... New expansion, these always start out so full of win & awesome. Memory lane & all that good stuff.

Remember when CoP was released? Everybody bitched about all that low level gear, those low level missions, & the complete lack of anything really worth doing? ~`Where the abjurations at!?`~ The CoP wyrms sucked too, in fact, they still do. The only one that gets any love is Tiamat, & that's just because he has Nike's. Sea wasn't out until what, 6 or so months after launch? Limbus? Guaranteed game breaking rewards for maybe half a week of work? Nobody saw that coming, CoP was FAIL.

Teh greatest launch... Evar!

Of course when ToAU was launched CoP was considered to be one of the best expansions, & arguably the best for people with specific jobs. eg PLD & BLM who got nothing but crap from RoZ. Melees better not try telling me Zenith compares to AF+1 on anything that matters!


How about when ToAU was released? That was just incredible! "I can't be bothered to walk through Mamook, XP here sucks" "It takes like 4 months to get a full set of Assault gear, & they suck!" "~`Where the abjurations at!?`~" The only thing people couldn't bitch about was the Walhra Turban, but I can't remember if that was there at launch or in a patch. Assault was basically useless until they added Nyzul Isle & the Perdu weapons. Salvage was considered a complete waste of time when it was introduced, & people are just now starting to beat Einherjar. Wait, I haven't been paying attention to that, they just finished Einherjar this summer didn't they? ToAU HNM's will be completely useless if they add Cerberus Hides anywhere else.

Yeah, ToAU had the best launch evar!!!!!!!! Too bad everybody was stuck in Jeuno complaining about the lack of Ridills & E-Bodies.

If you want to look like a pack of morons, keep bitching until the next expansion is announced. Then you can bitch about how much that one sucks at launch, and how totally awesome this one was. If you'd like to keep any of your dignity, shut up.
