Yea Campaign might be fun for free exp or w/e, nice cool mobs that you better leave them alone because they have stupid aoes so you won't be soloing any of them just because of the sake of it.

No gear, no HNMs, no good craftable items, only like a couple or 3 worthy items and that's it.

Somehow this expansion reminds me to Wii games, for casual players.
Salvage, Nyzul, 2/3 New ToAU HNMs, and Einherjar all didn't come out right when ToAU was released. I would assume that the same sort of deal will be true for this expansion as well.

Right about now I'm just enjoying the +10 Inventory. Anything else I see that's cool right now is just a bonus.

Granted I underestimated SE's foresight on dancer and was lulled into a false sense of security thanks to the spell list at fanfest for scholar but regarding it targeting casual players rather exclusively...

The other 5 assault areas (and their gear, even if all of it wasnt super fantastic) and cerberus did exist though, it held people of all walks over.

However we did get Cerberus, that dropped right away (well when it does lol) an awesome Great Sword, and hides for the best DD (HQ) and Ninja mantle.

Assaults gave us Amir, Yigit and this other one, which are nice sets of armor that any end-game player has aimed to get.

And camps that meant quick merits and buffer for 75 (same as quicker way to get 55 to 75).

So of course all that benefited everyone, but at the same time they benefited en-game shells right off the bat. WotG so far just seems like a spare-time toy, for those moments when you are bored, not getting any invites, nothing to camp, no events, etc. Which it is a good thing, since it is new stuff, but i might as well just go to Aydeewa or Uleguerand Rangue, or even Al'Taieu to kill time.

Yeah but look at the job changes they started up again, and spell additions. With the exception of PLD and the 2 handed update, its been a year since they started tweaking those again.

    Given that
a: Pain in the ass to get around in the past compared to sneaking through aht urgan
b: amount of zones they have to tweak
c: Campaign is already live, besieged took an update to go up and then you where lucky if you got put by the mobs before it was over
d: all the shit broken on the 19th update

I'm thinking we're all playing a live beta, but its going to get better. I'm with whoever compared it to CoP when it was released. No dragons? Thats nice, go trying killing an outpost full of orcs right now and see how well you do. Also, there's are area's full of safe low/mid level xp spots once choco's come out/if you go with an LS party.

RNG was worth it, WHM was worth it, Accomplice is worthless (it is, argue all you want, it's worthless). Releasing 2-3 job abilities and a spell doesnt require an expansion.

Difference, killing the outpost of orcs is for no other reason than to just do it, even jorm had a point early on.

Definitely didn't do that in ROTZ, COP, and TOAU as well as the other stuff either, nope.

Hasso and Drain II had an impact just as big as what VS and Repose will have, and they didn't even require a expansion, just like Ryko said. Hell even a bigger impact since Hasso can be used by anyone SAM/ or /SAM, VS is just for RNGs anyway.

And at worst the ramifications are penalties to you when playing in areas you don't play in anyway, if that.

Someone else: You forgot sam's/DRK's updates
Yeah, THF's got something almost nice :3 And yeah, I forgot SAMs, darks just got new spells . And no, it doesn't require an expansion but obviously it tied up the dev team. Remember when they anouned WoG how everyone went: wtf, thats really quick for another one. I agree whole heartedly with 'we're playing the demo' right now. The difference is that we're getting all the giant, god damn pain in the ass stuff out of the way now (hopefully) instead of when they release the next mission (Aquaducts, midnight CS's, all 9 maws).

Difference, killing the outpost of orcs is for no other reason than to just do it, even jorm had a point early on.
Well, they said stuff in the past affects the future. No one really has any clue as to what does what yet do we? Given the amount of crap they're adding (blue spells, cor rolls) thats tied directly into first wave stuff from the new expansion in the next update, I wouldn't be surprised if the amir/pahlwan/yigit of WoG would happen then. However thats just conjecture. At this point its all about having fun exploring new area's and going "OMG HOLY SHIT" everytime you find an army of things that could face rape you on accident.

And for the record, I've HP'ed about 4 times since this came out. The exp loss hurts but who cares? I'll be able to get it back easily in aht urgan :D

Anyone else remember when SE said that ToAU was progressing slowly because most or their man-power was going towards WotG?

The amount of content this 'expansion pack' has to offer thus far is like a bad joke. I wouldn't be surprised if WotG and FFXI in general are only being worked on an amount of people I can count on two-hands.

How to: Make excuses for ignoring making af2, creating a point for floor 100 nyzul weapons (yeah I saw the info that came out at fanfest), fixing eniherjar, and doing anything of worth instead of adding more to content that youll forget in 2 weeks, if SE doesn't forget it first.

    Re: Little disappointing?

They really shouldn't have released the expansion until January at the soonest, it's incredibly incomplete at the moment. No HNMs, no fucking new maps that actually show the real zone, no transportation whatsoever. There's also hardly any zones, to be completely honest. How hard is it to reskin and remob existing zones for use in a new expansion?

Not to mention they're wasing an incredible amount of potential not even trying to explain why Tavnazia isn't in the past, when it is clearly pre-destruction. It could and should have been the big city of this expansion.

    Re: Little disappointing?

I don't recall Tiamat and Jourmy being out of the box with CoP, I specifically remember a later patch adding "new Notorious Monsters in Uleguerand Range, Attohwa Chasm and KRT"

And lets look at what ToAU offered out of the box if we want to QQ so easily. Pretty much the same zones you have access to now. The "endgame" stuff would come much later, that being Salvage and Einherjar.

Stop expecting everything all at once, when we already know (three expansions later) that they don't operate like that.

    Re: Little disappointing?

Tiamat/Jorm/Vrtra were added with the first patch.

And ToAU offered out of the box: 15 assaults, 3 new sets of armors, 3 jobs, 3 beastmen strongholds, Cerberus, and a whole heap of merit camps that were better than any CoP or Zilart camps.

So far this expansion is really really empty

I am disappointed over the inability to charm usually 'charmable' monsters, such as mandragoras.

    Re: Little disappointing?

last night while I was getting all the maws I sort of noticed the expansion was kind of empty too. There's a TON of places to go but besides a few quests in the new towns, the maws, sandworm and -maybe- campaign (looks to be sort of eh so far) the entire thing is empty. I do have to say that running with sprinter's, gaiters, and mazurka is fun as hell though.
