    Re: Little disappointing?

The lack of NMs is kinda weird too (Other than Sandworm). I'm not sure if it's on purpose, or just another thing that they forgot to add. I almost get the feeling that it's another of SE's ways to try and prevent RMT. There are no money drop NMs, and drop rates on most mobs that are farmable solo are pretty bad.
Aside from HNMs, a Orobon, and probably 3-4 others, most ToAU NMs came in one large update if I recall correctly, though the Beastmen NMs might have made it two updates(I don't recall). This update was the second update(or first update after launch).

Beastman NMs were in the same update.

I don't know for sure, but it almost seems like they were lacking the funding to release much of an expansion from all the mass bannings and dwindling customer base. Resulting in the need for an extra $30 from each remaining customer to continue making the expansion -- But hey, what do I know. The little bit that is actually in the game atm is pretty cool and I'm enjoying what's there for me. I'll definitely be anticipating the upcomming updates.

SE is not lacking in money.

It's possible to run a MMORPG with a playerbase of 10,000 let alone having one in the top 5 non-chinese/korean/etc MMORPGs. Something tells me WotG wasn't an evil scheme to jew people out of their precious money.

It is when you purchased an incomplete product for its full retail price...

When you purchase expansions you are only buying a very small amount of data(physical maps for example) and access to related content from updates. If you think that is a scam I don't know what to tell you, but anyone could have told you that before you purchased this expansion or FFXI. Quitting shouldn't be a problem since this has to be your first expansion right?

BRP you are dead on, but no one is listening let alone paying attention, it has been the same arguments for pages now. ToAU release was scarcely any better than this, and people whined in the same exact way then too.

If you look at the other expansions, they tower over the content released in the DVD (dunno why it wasn't a CD is beyond me) of WoTG. ToAU had twice as much content, zones and whatnot as WoTG. CoP, from what I can tell, fucking owned WoTG out the ass. And, now you seem satisfied with zones, partially blocked off, Campaign, which is somewhat enjoyable, and some pretty zones who have small alterations. My 30$ never felt so good.

If I was SE, I'd have waited a month or two to work on this expansion and make it better than the previous. With every expansion released, SE should build it from it and make it better in the next. If you feel happy about a halfass expansion, by all means, go ahead, but don't tell us this shit, along with the retarded registration, has more content than the other expansions out-of-the box.

Where ToAU had a reason to do the small amount of content that was released from the box, WoTG is little more than a distraction in its current state. ToAU was much more than "scarcely any better."

Post some actual details instead of just saying it, you aren't really proving a point just listing what WotG has. While I did admit WotG was certainly lacking in some things, I said they weren't major things and overall no expansion "towers" over another(though I can't say from experience with RotZ, but something tells me that wasn't any special).

Where ToAU had a reason to do the small amount of content that was released from the box
    I don't understand.

ToAU had twice as much content, zones and whatnot as WoTG.
When it comes to "true" areas, ToAU only had 4 fields, 5 dungeons (including Alzadaal), and 3 towns. WotG has 12 fields and 3 towns currently, and probably 14 fields (total) and 5 dungeons later on. Of course, ToAU has more zones total, since there's 16? event areas. (6 Assault, 4 Salvage, 3 Battlefield, Hazhalm, Circuit, Pit)

Assaults and ALL of their non-??? rewards, incredible EXP spots that let even non meleeburn jobs get 10k/hr+, and Walahra Turban. It was even all grouped in one place for ultra convenience.

    Re: Little disappointing?

I was confused on on ToAU having a "reason to do small content".

Its incredible exp spots were nice, but I haven't seen enough attempts to make new exp camps to make judgment. Assaults were also nice, but not too incredible with only 15(most of which being very simple, being luck-based, quick beat-em-ups exp style, or escort). Hard to compare with Campaign Ops as not enough has been done with them. Turban is just an item, a nice one at that, but as the rest of these doesn't push ToAU much over the top.

    Re: Little disappointing?

I'd have to agree with BRP on this one, there's good reason why I'm in no major rush to get WoTG. Each expansion every time they're released is just small props in comparison to what is to come. If your expecting something like as amazing as ToAU expansion out of the box, personally I quit during this time cause there wasn't anything more than I can do in the game << (o noes turban.... xp spots, don't need em, not many good merit spots at the time, ect ect) then ur view of ToAU out of the box is kinda skewed.

If I recall, like every expansion, they only introduced zones, the major part, some missions and maybe some side quest stuff right out of the box. Next update usually comes in NMs and HNMs, and more missions, and a whole lot of crap really.

    Re: Little disappointing?

I am really getting tired of all the emowristslash people bitching constantly about how FFXI is a dieing game.

NEWS FLASH: THIS ISN'T 2004. THIS IS WINGS OF THE GODDESS, NOT CHAINS OF PROMATHIA.

FFXI has a stable player base right now. It is not dieing more then any other MMO is.

Why don't you try enjoying the game for a change instead of making excuses for why you shouldn't.

    Re: Little disappointing?

Why do people keep saying "but SE is gonna add more content, this isn't all of the expansion!!1" like it's some kind of valid counterpoint? This thread shouldn't need a disclaimer; the implied idea is the expansion is disappointing right fucking now at this moment of its release. If it's true that most of the implemented zones are re skinned four year old zones, and this is true:

Those are the data sizes of the content that came within the disks.
then there's no argument that the expansion is lacking. Nobody is saying you can't enjoy what they've given you and you're free to be content with fish ranking, but most of the player base sees this expansion for what it is: a rushed disappointment.

What playerbase? I haven't met a single person in game unhappy with the expansion. You just get a large concentration of people with drippy vaginas on online forums because they think it makes them look cool. Note this happens to be the case for almost every issue, not just WoTG.

Sasarai, everyone is free to like or dislike things.

For that same reason people was rushing to the streets or online or w/e to get the expansion this week, while a few others, granted is a minority won't probably get it until January, maybe a few days before next update (my case).

Because it is a valid counterpoint? You can't make a fair judgment of the entire expansion without seeing what else is added in for the future.

I don't recall asking you to speak for me. You do not voice my opinion.
