I've heard of those. My guess is there's a spring somewhere with a ??? you can trade the bottled fairy to in order to release it.

After seeing what those things do for adventurers, preserving the species sounds like a good plan.

And as many times before, try FF1. They did the whole "bottled fairy" thing first.

I went to the Witchfire Glen area of Grauberg and there's a "Fay Spring" target. I traded it and it said "You released the bottled pixie!"

I'm assuming you either have to do it so many times to get something or maybe it's a way to clear pixie hate?

It was mentioned at Fanfest that you were supposed to release them at the spring, but they didn't say what you get from doing this or why the expansion wasn't named FFXI: Link to the Past.

Go check different present zones to see if you can see any there now. If not then maybe a tally week has to pass for something to change? That's just an idea at least.
