Not really a great poster here but this caught my eye and i would have to say in all the encounters ive had with GMs that this is one thing that does annoy me greatly about GMs. Its extremly hard to hold a conversation with a GM and tank then relay that to the linkshell unless your on vent or TS.
Whenever a GM is trying to talk to me and I'm tanking, I always say to them to talk to Xxxx person because they are in charge and every time they say thank you and talk to that person instead of me. Although thats happened like twice so.. /shrug

Edit: Although I've called GMs a couple times and have had decent results. One time I was in Bastok and there were about 12 people all standing in the exact same spot with your standard RMT-Face-smash-keyboard names, all fishing. I called a GM, and tried not to use the standard "ZOMG I SEE FISBOTS BAN THEM PLZ" that I assumed they got hundreds of times a day, and they were gone within about 20 minutes. ^^b

    However, when I called a GM for "A LS is holding Kirin to keep it in their time", they never replied back ; ;

    whaaaaaaaa?

Maybe typing " " Would have worked better than "; ;".

    But yeah, it's a joke.

Yes, gotten some fishbots removed, seen several parties of RMT's vanish after having a GM show up, and gotten a bard banned for MPKing us over freaking despot PH's (I mean hey, maybe he didn't realise that putting a DoT on some slept mobs would cause chaos when we claimed them back, but he sure did it again while I was talking to the GM) so yeah.. I've been fairly satisfied.

Also been told that Adaberk is Blueish-Purple.

I've asked like 15 different GMs about the adaberk color at the close of calls.

Every single one of them has told me it's pink.

    I smell a conspiracy.

    To Shuemue:

Haha, no I'm not. Nor did I sell my body for friendship, besides I have a penis so I'm not sure there's much I could offer many of them. But they have told me about Poof and anything I hear makes me lulz.

    And to Rellinger:

You're right about those types of calls and they appreciate it when players call respectively even if they can't help and your situation sucks. I'm sure in anyone's case if you're nice about it they'll be more willing to help. No use in screaming at your mail man cause you didn't your check right?

(And yes I suck at posting since I haven't done it much, idk how to quote more than one thing ><)

Re: Have you ever been satisfied with a GM's response?

for certain things, yes. general consensus amongst the ffxi community, however for more serious issues such as hax, bots,RMTs the answer is no.

understanding how powerless GMs are would be the first item to look at. unless the GM actually witnesses the pixel in action nothing will be done immediately. however being that this is a service (service being customer service) continue your concerns about these issues to them in either email or by using the help desk feature and sooner or later you should see results. i think its easier for a company to get rid of one questionable account than have to respond to numerous complaints about said account. its how things get done alot of the time. i.e. squeaky wheel gets the grease

this not being the exact process, of course some investigation would take place but being that it is a private company they can at any time and for any reason discontinue their service to you. (real world)

However being that more and more issues and exploits are being found and the user base of the game has changed, i believe that GMs should be given the ability to make decisions as they see fit. Or at the very least be able to extinguish the situation till a SrGM arrives. that i think would satisfy most if not all of the player base.

(least this is how i see things)

Re: Have you ever been satisfied with a GM's response?

I've contacted a GM about 3 times and have had varying results, yet none of them unexpected.

The first time I ever called a GM was when I fell off the bridge in Windurst Walls as I'm sure everyone has had that happen at least once in their character lifetime The GM was helpful and in a typical GM fashion pulled me out of the water (in my case he was fishing for Taru's and caught one).

The second time I called was when I actually saw 'dfsgkenglds' & friends appear right next to ullikummi and claim + die in the process. Obviously still not being able to get it because it seems it only goes yellow when I die , I called a GM who took a while to respond. When he did he kindly referred me to put the request up for the STU through the use of the playonline support feature. When I did so (and the call had been ended) only then did I find out the playonline didn't direct you to STU in any way and I had to guess which option would get my request on the right adress. Apparently more people had that problem since then and they changed it (I assume).

The last time I called was when I happen to choose the wrong ToAU ring on the wrong character only realising this moments after I picked the ring. I pretty much expected the response that I recieved but I just had to try.

I guess I could've expected those responses. Maybe not always in my favor but you can't expect them to do your every bidding.

Re: Have you ever been satisfied with a GM's response?

I've called about 7 GM's in the past 2 weeks on fish botters... Mostly on the Selbina/Mahaura Boat

Yesterday there was 6 Lv1 Mithra's still with their rookie ?'s. After MPKing them with a Phantom I called a GM... He asked me for all of their names and I couldn't remember them all, i said, "They got aggro from a phantom and died" his response was, "HAHA Serves them right!" Anyway I gave him the names I could remember he said if the rest show up to call back... So i did and within a few minutes the other 3 were gone... =)

Re: Have you ever been satisfied with a GM's response?

Years ago, farming Ni scrolls in Castle O, some jackass THF decided he didn't want competition, so he trained a bunch of Yagudo on me and hid while I was fighting one. Luckily it was night, and thanks to NIN boots I made it out without dying. Barely. I had placed a call right as I zoned about the incident, and another after I zoned, because I was unsure whether the first call went through since I was running for my life.

When the GM responded, I explained what happened. He asked me if I thought it was intentional, and I said it most definitely was, without question. He asked a couple of other questions, just to see if there was any out for the guy that tried to MPK, and every answer I gave left no doubt that he was trying to MPK me. He said thank you, and that was the end of the call.

Five minutes later he contacts me again, and asks why I had placed another call on the person, when he had put the person in jail already. I explained that I had put in a call right as I was zoning, and another after I zoned because I didn't know if the first went through. He understood, and that was that. It's also one of the few times that I know of where a GM told a player the results of the call, which was nice, although he seemed miffed when he contacted me the second time until I told him what had happened.

Re: Have you ever been satisfied with a GM's response?

The only time I called a GM was when I fell through the docks in Kazham my first time there (because I couldn't figure out which way to the desk guys). A few minutes later someone ported me out, and I was satisfied.

ITT: poorly worded poll question and stories involving GMs.

The time I got banned for "using 3rd party tools to enhance my movement speed" on PS2 was awesome.

A GM has never been nothing more than a waste of time.

Re: Have you ever been satisfied with a GM's response?

I've only gotten a positive response once heh, but it was a good one! Year and a half ago before the force pop ulli update and gil sellers were still camping it 24/7, some friends and I were camping and of course they claimed it by poping up right next to it as it spawned. They then proceed to kite it with nin and one blm for damage and two rdms healing. Well blm goes down and then a rdm so they are just holding it now. About that time I actually made the GM call. Ulli had just poped as night came up so they had the advantage with their boots but that had come and gone now and the nin was still moving at 25% speed boost (couldn't keep up with crimson on). Well they continue to suck and do no damage and finally 35 min or w/e after I made the call a GM finally gets in contact with me for the call about holding of a NM. I explained the situation to him/her and about the nin's abnormal speed and the GM says "I'll see what I can do..." couple seconds later the nin dissapears, ulli unclaims, and we kill it with sam rng rng pld pld we had there in 30 seconds. Would have been nice not to have waited the hour or so it took over all but the outcome was the same and it was an epic win at the time

lol a friend and I got jailed for mpk'ing an ls that pulled the entire VoS on us while fighting aspi 5+ times, apparently the GM didn't get there until we finally wiped

The best part? I got jailed, my friend got jailed, like 5 random people from other NA ls's that had absolutely nothing to do with the situation and did nothing whatsoever wrong got jailed, while the jp ls that was dropping 10+ mobs on us again and again and again got a free abody.

A few times, yes. The ratio for happy:unhappy with GM responses is not even close to being on SE's side.

I got suspended quite a few times for MPKing gilsellers way back before the BST nerf, I would go and try to camp amemet all the time and they would always jack it from me. The Ovinniks didn't like it so much.
