I just bought a xbox 360, I need games.

So, instead of looking through all 200 pages of the console war thread to find out what the best games for the system are I will just ask here. The system comes with halo3, forza2, and marvel ultimate alliance,and I ordered COD4 with it as well. What other games should I get, I know gears of war is good, mass effect looks pretty good too but what else is a must play?

I'll probably have more Q's when the system arrives. Is the default headset good quality or are there better ones?

The default headset is fine. Better then the wireless ones you can buy.

Since you have BioShock and The Orange Box, I'll leave those off the list.

Halo 3, Gears of War, Call of Duty 4 if you're an FPS fan.

Mass Effect is supposed to be really good, but I haven't played so I can't really comment.

Definitely Mass Effect, it is very Bioware style, so make sure you like that.

i.e - you really have a big impact on the story and choices of dialogue, with not as much of a concentration on big epic cutscenes.

Also, Crackdown, quite possibly the most underrated 360 game there is. I personally think it was the best open world game since GTA: Vice City. Especially playing Co-op. Now gdi where are those last 7 green orbs <.<?

Oblivion is pretty good.

I'd also recommend Burnout Revenge, even if you like racing games or not.

Mass Effect is just awesome - I really can't put it down right now. If you liked (or know of) KOTOR and Gears of War, mash them up and set it all in a compelling and believably realistic sci-fi universe then you've got Mass Effect.

I second only renting BioShock. I finished it easily on a 5-day rental and there's pretty much zero replay value.

Assassin's Creed is another one I would recommend renting. Honestly, it's pretty short and considering I have a very tight budget I cannot justify shelling out nearly $80 after taxes for a game that I might finish and have no use for in a week.

First off, you'll want to rent most games unless you like blowing money away. Many games are hyped as great, but can be beaten entirely within one or two weeks. Games like Dead Rising and Assassin's Creed are great examples of that. Games you should buy are games with insane amount of gameplay like Oblivion(and Mass Effect? Haven't played) or have very nice online mulitplayer.

I would go into top rated games and filter it out to just Xbox360.

Though I wouldn't just trust these rankings.

I hope you are into FPSers because that will make up roughly 70% of your game library if you have more than 6 games.

I was going to recommend Beautiful Katamari, but after playing it a bit I don't think that it's totally worth the current new price tag. See if you can pick it up second hand at an EB/GameStop or for it to come down below $30 new before buying. Otherwise it may be just a renter. However, I love my Katamari games for PS2 because I can pop them in and have a lot of fun for 20-30 minutes at a time even though I've played them to death.

Is the online play not very popular for gears anymore? I was surprised it was still $60 this far after it came out so I held off getting it for now.
