We had that bullshit happen to us in Buburimu in my old LS.. AB died from DOT spells under 30 seconds and it timed us out of the zone anyways.

That 30-second countdown starts when your time has already run out. It's just a very short buffer so you have a "chance" to pass/lot stuff. It makes sense that getting the kill after that point wouldn't trigger the time extension.
