The main problems with Inuyasha is the main problem with a lot of anime, or at least the ones that get shown on American TV.
Number one: villain homogeneity. "Oh no, there was a demon attack, I wonder if Naraku was involved?" Four out of five times, he was. The thing that made Batman the Animated Series so good was that there was a cast of regular villains, and a few one-timers, to keep the plots interesting.
Number two: too many episodes. In total, there were 167 episodes of Inuyasha. Get rid of the filler and cut back the episodes and there could have easily been 70-80 really good episodes. On the other hand, Dragon Ball Z had 276 English-dubbed episodes, 291 Japanese episodes. And most of those episodes are just people making constipated power-up sounds and filler about Gohan.
Number three: Deus ex Machina. "Oh no! Naraku has an impregnable barrier! Look! The Tessaiga has magically gained a new power which can overcome it, but not enough to actually kill Naraku!" Mind you, Inuyasha isn't nearly as bad with this as certain other anime series. "Oh no, Ichigoku! Zaraki Kenpacheeta's power-spiritual-pressure-level is too high for even you to defeat! What! Your spiritual-power-level-pressure has suddenly shot over 9,000 and you can easily best this enemy who was considered utterly unstoppable just 3 scant episodes ago!"
An aside. I wish I could pass a law that forced the companies that make and dub anime to give me a quarter anytime someone on said animes used the word "impossible" or some variant of "impossible". DBZ would make me a millionaire, but Bleach would give me such enormous wealth that even the combined fortunes of Warren Buffet and Bill Gates would be a pittance in comparison.
So anyway, stop hating on Inuyasha. There is plenty of truly terrible anime out there if you feel the need to hate; such as Blue Gender, Eureka Seven, Lupin the 3rd, and Super Milk-chan.
I really really really like Eureka Seven and Lupin. Damn this thread for causing this statement!Originally Posted by Septimus
Lupin the 3rd..? Terrible? Eh? Blue Gender and Super Milk-chan... those I can get behind you about.
I didn't really give Eureka Seven a chance, so I can't really say anything at all there, but Lupin the 3rd? Come on Sept, that's gotta be some kinda joke.
There's so much fucking truth here. This is why I nominate Septimus King of the World.Originally Posted by Septimus

Eureka Seven follows the "Strong Bad Rule of Anime Plots" to a tee:Originally Posted by Boyiee

Change every reference of "1-Up" to whatever the annoying kid is named, and every reference of "Stinkoman" to whatever that annoying older guy is named.
Just watch Hajime no Ippo and problem solved 8)
yeah and at the end the older one is jealous but then lets go and grows up himself as well yeah I know... There are a reason so many anime's follow the same basic plots and repetitive crap... it sells.
Besides the older/younger plotline, I liked ya know, the part of the story that wasn't about that (the last half of the episodes). I thought it was a cute love story with some drama and some sacrifices and colors lol.
I have to say that Eureka 7 is the worst anime I have attempted to watch. I don't watch too much anime so I can't comment on the worst ever, but the worst i've seen.Originally Posted by Boyiee
I stopped watching around the time when the main character left the ship cause the older guy and the whole crew basically were being allmighty assholes to the kid. So the kid dips and meets that couple. THey treat him better than the original crew ever did, and then he dips cause he learns they are trying to kill the leader of the asshole crew or something. Then the kid gets the nice couple killed. GG
I just throught the girl was hot, rule34 kept me watching.
Although I have done that before (fortunately Ikteru Futari was short), these days it's much faster to start a thread on 4chan. /e/ /h/ or /d/ as you prefer, naturally.Originally Posted by Boyiee

Rumiko Takahashi can make good stories... Ranma and Inu Yasha (which I haven't completely watched or read) are just examples of american style shows (like dbz, milk an IP forever as long as you make money).
Maison Ikkoku is a great example (godai is like a hero for sincere losers, yes that includes me haha) of a great story she did that has a natural ending, as well as some of her shorter, lesser known works. I didn't have much of a point, i just really wanted to plug Ikkoku T_T ... I still read it every year or so and it still gets me. I even lent my volumes to my mom and she enjoyed it.
Ranma and Inu Yasha (as much as I saw of it) seemed like it recycled themes but were basically a decade long tease where the relationship went no where but people kept with it to see where it goes after the action grows tiresome (who can forget ranma's martial food eating fights -.-)
edit: or pantyhose taro, the manbearpig, i mean winged man/minotaur/eel/octopus
Ok, well in an attempt to rerail this discussion..
After reading 532, I've decided that Sesshomaru is a little bitch. Fucking end this shit already and forget about Rin. D:
