Got my third medal Sunday night, got new OPs sometime this afternoon. Also, they came back w/ the mysterious missing OPs.Originally Posted by Ryushii
What about nation's reconnaissance levels compared with its main beastmen rival's level? For instance here, Windy Lv3 vs. Yagudo Lv1 and they get all the missions, Bastok and Sandy both Lv0 versus Quadav/Orc Lv1, and only get 3 categories.
San d'Oria (Lv0) vs. Orcs (Lv1)
Windurst (Lv6) vs. Yagudo (Lv1)
We all get the same Campaign Ops now. (Though Windurstians have had them a good while longer, and didn't lose them iirc)
I think it's safe to say Recon has no effect on Campaign OPs.
strange i did 2 new OP since i got my brass ribbon 4 days ago
so i go tonight to do 3 (since i got 3 tags) and bang they all dissappear.
I've done around 50campaign and all so i hope i can still do promotion
and if i do ops i already did exemple
Bronze and some of brass , will it work for promotion? or i need to do new one only?.
And on Cerberus bastok only owns markets and Gustaberg![]()
Let's get one thing straight. There are NO RANK UPS. Its a medal system, not a rank up system. You do campaigns, you do missions, basically you do field work, you get recognized for it like in the military (IRL OMG!)
If you dont understand this simple concept, look in your TEMPORARY KEY ITEMS. You retain all medals you have obtained, unless you get a demotion, change alliances, etc. If it were a rank, it would be a PERMANENT KEY ITEM.
This whole thing is very interesting indeed. Its not a simple, "do missions, get this". Its more a concerted effort to advance your nations control, interests, and assets. I for one find the whole thing awesome, I cant wait every 5 days to see what's next!
Not that it matters, but I'm sure you are aware that your rank medals from ToA were all temporary except for Captain.
Seconded.Originally Posted by Shadowrunner
Just finished Granite Rose I (W). Someone said they wanted screen shots of the Op areas, this is Ghoyu's Reverie. It's kinda like.. Attohwa meets Korroloka.

The Dawn Aureola is basically the same as the exits in assaults, only it's up from the moment you enter.

The Yagudo were roaming in a straight line. They didn't even aggro us. Slept fine. Jobs were (Left to Right) SAM, NIN, BLM.

Just another shot I took. There was more to the zone, but I honestly didn't care enough to explore. Was an NPC in there too, but it just stood there while we faught. ;/
My LJ has pictures of Everbloom Hollow (the Sandy instanced Ops area) for whatever that may be worth. The entry is recent and is simply called "The Everbloom Hollow".
At any rate:
I don't understand this. Would you not call what happens in Assault ranking up? You have a title that changes as you advance and its pretty blatantly ranking up since you gain access to higher tiers of Imperial Standing items just like you do with your Conquest Points with your nation's rank.Code:If it were a rank, it would be a PERMANENT KEY ITEM.
Assault earns you badges in the forms of key items that replace themselves up until the Captain one, which is the only permanent one on the list.
Campaign seems exactly the same. Even down to the Allied Notes vendor; who has plenty of room for offering more goodies just as soon as people hit a class higher than "Ribbons".
If that isn't ranking up, what is?
for some reason, when I tried to pop the NM for Delta Strike, the ??? told me "Something tells you that you should wait a moment and try again". I tried first around 16:00 and wasn't able to pop it until exactly 18:00.

That's a Shakrahmi feature, the bone ridge. Thought it looked like a Shak map.

I was able to get the Allied Ribbon last night and I was sitting on 5 campaign op tags. I did around a dozen campaign battles though between the first rank up and this one. So either the rank up requirements are extremely low at this rank, or campaign battles carry enough weight to get you through.
They'd have a problem if they required you to do a certain number of unique Campaign Ops to rank up I'd imagine. At least on my server's Sandoria they seem hell bent on sticking to Resource procurement, Supply transport, and Supply manufacture as goals. I keep trying to vote for other strategies, but Sir Snooty McRoffles apparently doesn't convince the King for me.
Anybody know how to do smokescreen? Do we have to attack the fort thing itself or kill mobs?
The answer you're looking for is not one, but two posts above yours.
Oh, I missed that thanks.
That was me I think, and thanks for the pictures. Too bad this area look shitty like silvermines, Square enix was lazy on them. Everbloom isnt amazing, but the flower add a nice touch at least.Originally Posted by Vile
Yeah, the assault-style ops were done incredibly poorly. Not only did they use pre-existing textures and construction sets to build them, but they're not even tested and adjusted properly for difficulty.
Yesterday I did Granite Rose I (B) and it didn't even give me the POS of the Fortilace I had to use to enter. So I had to run around Rolanberry for awhile while digging through forums hoping someone else posted it. No one else had. The Fortilace was in the farwest by the "Fountain of" something, just north of where Roc spawns against the West Rolanberry Zone Barrier.
Once we entered it was a freaking joke. We went with a 75 RDM, 75 SAM, and 65 NIN. The 3 Quadav that attacked didn't even touch the NPC. So little of the zone (which wasn't very big at all anyway) was actually used, just one room and a tunnel leading to it. They came running at us right away, I'd estimate 1500 HP and 0 def. They're like, level 50 monsters. I could've solo'd it on SAM without any trouble.
The other one I did was Brave Dawn I (B), it was equally as boring. I sat there healing while a crab beat on the NPC. Each of the Crab's attacks seemed to take off about 20-15% of the NPC's health. I'd estimate he had maybe 600-800 MP, because cure III raised a big chunk of his HP every time I used it. Cure IV seemed to be a total cure. We just sat there and cure bombed him until we killed it. 75 PLD/WHM, 75 WHM, and a SAM friend who just sat there and watched. The 75 WHM could've solo healed without any difficulty. I think just about anyone with a decent amount of auto-refresh and access to cure III could probably solo this with the right gear setup (even just a melee subbing WHM if they gear right and bring some meds/drinks). But of course you need 3 people to enter.
Both zones looked like crap. It felt like we were in Gusgen Mines. The only thing new I noticed at ALL was the Campaign Ops Assault-Mission Music while engaged. That was kinda cool. The XP rewards are pathetic too. 160 XP for doing a mission I can only do once a day. Gee SE, being a little overly conservative? That's less XP than I can get for going out and 2 houring a VT into the ground... The AN reward wasn't even that good. It's about what I get for a nice Campaign battle. Only reason I'm doing these at this point is I hope that eventually I'll get access to some higher level Ops which aren't a total waste of time.
So far I'm extremely depressed with the Ops system vs. what the Assault System is/was.
