    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

I'm conducting some tests around the Hypothesis that Campaign Ops are somewhat like a classic RPG technology tree. In that doing OPs of certain types generate 'resource points' which allow you to do others that require a certain amount and thus expend it. I think that new recruits start with a baseline surplus of these points (which is why its observed that most OPs are unlocked) and over time of ranking up they expend all these resources and thus have an extremely limited pool to choose from.

    Observations:
Crimson Domino repeats eventually remove it from list
Iron Anvil repeats eventually remove it from list
Crystal Fist repeats eventually remove it from list

Material Storm repeats seem to restore Iron Anvil/Crystal Fist/Crimson Domino

I normally do Crimson/Iron III untill they go away then spam Material Storm I.
Currently i'm stockpiling Material Storm I 'credits' till I feel an excessive quantity is reached then going to perform Stock and Awe I and observe if some appear/disappear.

On that note, I have never seen Smokescreen III, Hawk Eye II/III, Slaughterhouse II/III avaliable (though hawkeye/slaughter need beastmen zones which has been a LONG time since those were around).

I'll post more if I find anything out.

    Smokescreen does also.

Your theory has already been suggested, but I'd like to see some more evidence to prove it. One thing I would suggest doing is checking into the possibility of a national stockpile much like you are talking about, instead of a personal one. This would explain why these ops are almost never available, even if you have never done one before. It also explains why so many ops become available Sundays after conquest tally, because that seems to replenish these "supplies."

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

Well I would like to doubt that the OP operations of one character would cause another to be unable to do them. I can however see the implementation of an overall national strat effecting what resources a player has accumulated. Something like converting resources into other types or granting freebies.

This is why i've stated it as a Hypothesis and am going through testing methods and observations. Unfortunatly 1 credit per day makes this take time. Most of the other 'theories' had no actual evidence supporting such a claim.

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

Certain Ops may be triggered/influenced by high levels of beastmen forces / resources / morale / whatever. It may sound counterintuitive to "reward" players with different Ops when the beastmen forces are stronger, but we already have several Ops that are only available when beastmen control a region so this is certainly possible. Also, it stands to reason that some of the Ops we frequently have access to may disappear if the beastmen grow too strong.

Hopefully the version update will bolster the beastmen forces somewhat and this will help with the availability of Ops. If nothing else, spreading player forces across 3 new additional zones (beastmen strongholds) might thin us out enough to let the beastmen make a dent.

    Deep Cover I (W)

Objective: The gear of the Yagudo Theomilitary has been increasing in quality at an alarming rate, causing great concern. Proceed to (G-9) and under the orders of Pelpopo, gather intel on the status of the enemy's weaponry.

    Unit Requirement: 1 member.

Edit: Pelpopo in Windurst Waters [S] at (G-9) just gave me a Fiendtrapper and 5 blank fiend plates. Off to take some holiday Yagudo snaps.

Edit2: I took pictures of 5 Yagudo, some in Meriphitaud Mountains [S] and some in Castle Oztroja [S]. I traded him the 2 Oztroja ones and 1 of the Meri ones (he only takes 1 at a time, and will yell at you if you try to trade more). After trading a total of 3, I got 150 exp. Went back to Emhi Tchaoryo for 600 AN.

I went to East Ronf [S] took 4 orcs and one gob. Took the first two orc plates, said the 3rd was garbage, took the 4th and ended it. I'm not sure if the Gob would have worked or not. All 4 of the orcs were different jobs as well.

Did Bridge Too Far I [S] with another person, chose the same exact answer. Transport to Jugner, small amount (only choice here), longest route, medium force, engage enemy.
My caravan got in fights with a superior beastman assault force, considerable beastman opposition, and then another superior assault force. "By the good graces of the Goddess, our convoy was able to emerge victorious over our adversaries." Was the message after each battle. I got 108 xp, 396 AN.

Other person with me only got one battle against "a substantial force under the direct command of a beastman general" which they won but lost some cargo. And she ended up with 54 xp, 198 AN.

So I'm not sure if you can fail, or what the max is for winning.

Steel Resolve 1 -- AKA: Hope you have a good memory!

Spotting a new ops, I grabbed it. I believe it was listed under Defense. I had to go to a zone owned by Sandy. Talked to the Campaign NPC and it started the ops. ...lord, the NPC went on and on and on. I was supposed to remember all this crap?

    http://www.hot-hot-hot-catlove.com/f...elResolve1.jpg

Yeah, right. So I just picked a bunch of things at random from the menu and NPCs ran in and out. Eventually it ended and somehow I won.

    80 XP. ...yay...

Tried Deep Cover I, failed. Traded 5 unique plates from La Vaule: 4 diff orcs (BLM, MNK, WAR and DRG) and the Firebelcher. Only took the DRG plate, couldn't get more plates and had to cancel the Op.

Tried Bridge Too Far I, selected Vunkerl Inlet (this area had lowest resources at 0), moderate amount of cargo, normal peacetime route, small force, avoid engaement at all costs. Fended off three attacks, completed Op for 108xp.

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

Just did Search and Seizure I (W)

Talked to the Quartermaster and she says that the mobs you're looking for most frequently pass through beastmen controlled areas. I ran out to Garliage because it was the only place under their control, and waited a bit. Wasn't sure I needed to be in Campaign or not because in the description it says you accompany the cobras.

I decided to grab the new Tele quest while I was there, and while running back towards the storeroom 3 Yagudos were walking down the hallway. 2 Guards (SAMs) and 1 Transporter (MNK) They aggroed me, so I bolted past them and they lost aggro very quickly. Was able to Grav the MNK, run, lose aggro, and nuke it down. They were fairly weak. The MNK got 1 round off for 63 and a miss on my RDM.

After it died a ??? was on the ground. Returned the Key item to the quartermaster

For Bridge Too Far I [W], the mission text claims that Pukori-Totokori is at J-9. This is incorrect; he is at F-10. Thanks wide scan; gg SE.

Bridge Too Far, just picked a bunch of random stuff (well not totally random but), and upon arriving in Jugner much later, I was told that they had accident and lost some of the supplies.

Got 108 exp and 396 Allied Notes, so it looks like they cut my pay for it. Rasdinice mentioned that too, "Not all operations can go as planned, but a success is a success!"

    Just tried this...

Found the same Yagudo wandering the halls, they aggro'd me and all ran past me. They run with like +50% speed so you can't catch up simply by running. I sent my automaton on the Transporter and Flashbulb'd it and they all just kept running away. They stopped after a bit, only to aggro (by sound) again as I approached and ran away again. Then again. THEN AGAIN. I couldn't catch up to it fast enough to try to damage it with Bio before all 3 of them got to the Fortification and then warped. That was such bullshit. I'm guessing you can only pull them with actual damage... if that. I'm confuzzled, and annoyed.

::edit:: And now, as I was typing this, another set of Guards/Transporter ran up to me, aggro'd me and ran past. I managed to put Blind on with my Automaton and again, they did not stop. And I can't get close enough while engaged to get a hit off before they run.

::edit2:: Ran by again, (I'm guessing these mobs endlessly loop from point A to Fortification for anyone on this Op). However, I engaged and hit the Transporter (weak defense) only to have them totally ignore me and run past again. Can you only do this with Bind/Sleep/Gravity?

::edit3:: Hitting a Guard this time did nothing, they keep running as soon as they aggro and completely ignoring any spells or damage I do to them.

::edit4:: Jesuschristgoddamn this thing. Here's how it worked for me, which still makes no sense. They come by again, but this time I used Spiritreaver and tried to Blizzard IV the fuck out of the transporter before they could run. Casting time was just slow enough for Transporter to run out of range before my Automaton cast. I retrieve and run after them again, and to my surprise, they are attacking some poor sap who AFK'd in the Garlage tunnel (the path to the fortification). I take this opportunity to Deploy and Blizzard IV the Transporter for about 1400 dmg which took it down to about 25% and put hate on my Automaton. It proceeded to miss my Automaton while I melee'd it down to about 3%. The Guard had killed the poor AFK chump and stood there unaggro for a moment. As soon as it re-aggro'd to me, the Transporter up and ran away again, at fucking 3%. I chased them down again and this time waited for them to stop, engaged from out of range and ran up and punched it to kill it before it started to run (slight pause between aggro & running). Got the supplies from the ??? and motherfuck this Op unless you're BLM or RDM.

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

When I did it, they aggroed and ran away from me like they did with you. When they eventually stopped I landed Grav on the transporter, he turned and looked at me, then they all began to run. Since the Transporter was graved I was able to get a Blizzard III off. When that went off it turned and came for me.

It didn't try to run after my first nuke hit. The guards never came back either.

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

Note about Steel Resolve I, each time you do it, you raise the maximum level of the Fortifications in that zone by 2. I did it in East Ronfaure [S] twice and watched it go up 2 levels each time, and then went to Batallia Downs [S] and watched it go from 150->152. It seems to lag a bit at times, so you might have to wait a minute. Interesting if the maximum level carries over after the tally, I imagine it boosts the HP level of the Forts, or maybe faster regeneration.

For those Guards and the Transporter, you have to claim them with damage before they see you. Then they'll come and fight you instead of running. The Guards will warp if you kill the Transporter (but not immediately), but the Transporter seemed to stick around if the Guards were killed first. Guards hit pretty hard and often (frequent Zanshin).

Doesn't quite explain why, after I claim-nuked the Transporter because 1 Guard and the Transporter aggro'd some lv.50 THF that was AFK in the tunnel, that the Guard unaggro, saw me, then they both ran.

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

I had a weird experience. I found the transporter by himself standing still; another player was standing there near him (didn't see him at first because he was around the corner), so I guess he may have killed the guards? I'm not really sure. I claimed the Transporter with Elegy, but he didn't look at me until I ran up and whacked him with my Joyeuse. Then...he stood there. Sometimes he would counter me, and he'd do TP moves as normal, but he never engaged me. I just beat him down and the ??? appeared. I had been worried about stealing that other guy's kill, so hopefully he was able to check the ??? also, but when I left he seemed AFK >.> Never said anything, so I'm not sure what happened.

These new ops were interesting, but I think it's back to Crimson Domino III on my SAM or SCH for me.

Oh, when I did Bridge Too Far, my convoy got attacked a lot, and I didn't get many points (less than 100 exp and a little over 100 AN). The tag giver said something about things not always going as planned, "but a win is a win", and it is in my completed list.

Tried Deep Cover III for bastok.

    I went to beadeaux and took 5 pictures: star ruby, iron, vajra, magnus, and ancient quadav. The NPC would take neither of them, so had to cancel _._;

As much fun as it was wandering around beadeaux without sneak, I don't see myself doing that one again.

For Deep Cover II, the NPC refused a picture of an EP Orc from Ronfaure [S] saying something like I should be getting intel on tougher orcs than that. The rest of the pictures I took were of campaign Orcs, and all of those were fine. I mostly took pics of the beastmen generals. What I can't figure out is why I'm occasionally getting a picture that he can't make out. I'm guessing it's random, which is fine as long as he just wants 3 pictures and gives 5 plates.
