    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

I don't understand the Op Credit really. I thought it was 24h but my friend & me went to all the same Missons & got tags at exact same time when we started. Now yesterday her tag refreshed about 30mins before mine, and now today right now, I'm @1h for a tag ( which makes it 24h since my 1 yesterday) but friend has had her tag ready now for 2 hours. Don't get it >.> Thats 3h difference during the course of our 5 Op missons, and we did them all exact same time.

edit: Friend just had an idea and it seems crazy but.. this is SE. Maybe your tag is based on when you installed the X-pac?
She gets her tag about the same time she installed.. and now that I think about it, I DL'd the torrent and installed right around 12:00 my time.. which is about an hour away. Crazy & unlikely.. but I dunno.

edit again: just FYI, friend also said JP sites say max you can have at once is 5.

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

Opinion time... I can't decide what to do.

I am still 2 days from being able to get my promotion, but at the same time I only have 3 Campaign Ops available to me. I've completed all 3, but I still have a tag on the NPC.

Is there any value (besides the XP/AN) to doing a repeat or should I hold my tag on the NPC and wait until I have new Ops available to me?

    Crystal and I Op Mission/Quest.

Synth asked to teach: Amber Stone

Recipe give: Wind Crystal, Yellow Rock

    Resulted in failing mission

The places I looked showed the above recipe. It there a different one?

    Thanks.

Did you take awhile to look up the recipe?

Kinda weird, before I ranked up, I had access to basically 6-7 missions (one from each category). After I ranked up tonight, I only had 2 to choose from - both new, but still weird.

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

Touching again on the vanishing campaign ops, just now, I checked on my tag and i still had all the missions available I had yesterday (granite rose, pit spider, slaughter house, everything). I take the warp NPC and go to a suddently ending campaign, and then go to vunkerl inlet and participate in a campaign there (nothing too impressive. Bakgodek kills everyone, I get 500 EXP and 250 AN).

I get back to the tag desk, and they're all gone except for the material gathering, teaching synth items and the first escort.

    That's fine and shitty. however.

I wait around, refreshing the campaign map every few minutes and hop on the warp NPC the second it shows batallia is under attack. I get there, do 2k+ damage with a few blue mage spells and turn in my tags for 240 exp and 248 allied notes (?). I warp back to san d'oria and what would you know, all my campaign ops are back in full though I didn't get any new ones.

So, campaign ops are apparently directly related with the campaign battles going on. Exactly how, it's hard to tell from just the two experiences I've had. Could be anything from not doing shitty in one, to having the outcome of the last one you participated in be a success. At the very least I hope this sheds a small bit of light on the whole thing.

minor edit: Did Iron Anvil I. Got Fisherman's gloves and Vagabond's gloves. 140 exp 580 allied notes.

Assuming you are Sandorian since you said you warped back there, who controls vunkerl/battalia on your server?

San d'Oria controls them both at the moment, full bars for San d'Oria at the moment, with near no beastman presence, and orc morale and prosperity is almost completely non existant.

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

I did Brave Dawn a bit earlier. Today I used my 3rd and 4th ops tags; my third mission ended up being Brave Dawn because it had just become availible to me and I figured it would be the most interesting of the Ops since it required a party of three people (and, thus, figured it would give me something interesting to write about in my LJ).

Heres the interesting thing. When I asked for other folks to join me to do the Ops with me; one of the two people who joined was a friend of mine who -literally- just accepted entry into the ranks of San d'Oria.

I was initially under the impression that Brave Dawn had opened up to me because I had passed my two previous ops and was simply unlocking new things. But my friend---who had never touched an ops -or- a Campaign battle was given and accepted the exact same quest. So I have no bloody idea what determines ops availibility.

Oh yeah. And Brave Dawn is the most uninteresting use of an instance I've seen in a very long time. Its "PL someone in Valkurm" the mission.

    Yay WotG.

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

Didn't one of the fan fest interviews say that unlike assaults you can take other members that might not have the same access as you on missions, but only using the one person's Op tag?

At the very least the campaign notes say *Players may also assist in the Campaign Ops of other nations. so being on the same operation doesn't seen to be necessary

Everyone's tag was consumed. Everyone got credit for the mission clear. Everyone gained XP -and- Allied Notes. I made sure in advance that everyone checked to see if they could access and accept the mission and everyone had.

Apparently it -is- possible to go and "assist" even if you do not actually have the mission accepted. And you'll still get XP. But you will -not- get the Allied Notes or "the win" for your mission log.

Unless someone has evidence of otherwise.

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

So, yeah, just a heads up... Don't do the Jugner Forest (S) Vanguard X I (S) Campaign Ops mission without getting that keyitem that will open the gate with the half-moon hole in it... Just wasted 1 tag and 30 min, last night, trying to find a way to the fort... apparently, the gate is the only way. ><

Lo and behold, right as I'm failing this mission hard core, someone posts that there's a keyitem laying around on the map in that other thread about how to get to Sandy easier. Fun times.

Good news, though, the guy that gave me the Op in Sandy said "Well, I'm sure you gave it your best, and I'm sure this will propel you to greater feats in the future" or something like that. Not sure if that's the normal response, but I was waiting to get yelled at for failing my mission. >.>

Nope, used http://www.ffxiah.com, had it within seconds of the NPC asking.

After several times doing it, I think this is the pattern for Crystal Fist & Iron Anvil 1.
Fist will be three, three ingredient recipes. Anvil will be two, four ingredient recipes.

Anyone looking up recipes, DON'T use an internet search function. It's the page loading that kills you.
I saved each of the Mysterytour craft pages to my laptop, fire up the one I'm about to choose, then use the "Find in This Page" function to jump right to the info. I usually only need to type 3-4 letters to get there.

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

for crystal fist/iron anvil, I think the ingredients can also be in any order, ie: poison potion needs water/mercury/poison powder, they can switch the last two (since it always asks for the crystal first). I'm wondering if they're gonna be using any recipes that have multiple types of synths though (black ink anyone? has 6 :/ )

I was asked for 3 single ingredient recipes for crystal fist I, 2 if you count the crystal.

    Re: Campaign Ops Discussion

I just look up the recipe when it says the name, before the menu opens with the options to select. Never had a time limit problem, and I've started, then went to the pc, opened firefox, waited for the stuff to load, scrolled down the list, found the recipe, then hit x for the menu for the crystal.
