WotG Storyline Discussion (Spoilers)

Some things with know about Odin:

- The Demons refer to him as the Dark Divinity
- He was searching for the "Iron Giant" (Alexander)
- He was freed by Aldo's Sister singing the Ley at the Dark Protocrystal (Reference: CoP cutscene in Selbina)
- The only thing that can put him back to sleep (so to speak) is the Eye of Altana (Reference: Tuning Out)
- The Eye was originally recovered many years ago during one of the first conflicts with the Orcs in the Northlands by a Soldier next to the Dark Protocrystal (Reference: Tuning Out)
- He was attempting to use Luzaf to battle Alexander



Now here's the thing that's not fully made clear. Throughout the storyline the source of the Shadow Lord's transformation is discussed in various places. Sometimes a "dark power under the northlands" is referred to, Raogrimm speaks of a rage within him he tapped into. Odin makes references to "Sating Rage" in the cutscene with Luzaf. Furthermore, Odin's Protocrystal was under Ulegeurand.

It seems likely that Odin was responsible for Raogrimm's transformation, but from the cutscene at the end of Dynamis-Xarcabard it doesn't seem like it was Odin merely enforcing his will on Raogrimm--it seemed like a two-way thing.

I can't remember the exact dialogue, but whatever voice is talking to Raogrimm (it's not said who the voice belongs to) claims that Raogrimm somehow corrupted his realm in some way. And CoP Dynamis' first cutscene refers to the original Dynamis realms as a "vision of malice."

Odin doesn't seem like a good or an evil figure, only a figure that desires to fight Alexander at all costs. Seems to me like Raogrimm came into contact with Odin, Odin saw an opportunity to be freed by using Raogrimm's considerable charisma and strength, and thus used Raogrimm to search for a way to be freed from his Protocrystal so he could look for Alexander in order to fulfill his instincts.

A few things remain unclear.

- Who/What is Atomos and what role does it play?
- Who/What is Cat Sith and what role does she play?
- What sort of relationship did Odin and Raogrimm have?
- Comet?
- Crystals? I've always wondered about this. NPCs have always talked about how the Beastmen want their "Crystals." I never really got it. It's even mentioned in the opening video that the dark power "hungered for the power of the crystals." I always figured that was an outdated storyline concept they tossed away.

Was it confirmed exactly how far in the past we're sent when we use the Maws?

They're probably not. We're still in the infancy of the war.

Basically what's happened thus far is...

- Orcs invaded Jugner. Marquis of Jugner asked for assistance, San d'Oria ignored how bad the situation was and only sent 300 troops, San d'Oria thus lost Jugner. (lol300reference)

- Bastok was pushed out of Grauberg in possibly their biggest loss in the war.

Other than that, no major events have really occured prior to WotG. I mean obviously there's things that happened that weren't war related that led up to it, but that's the basics. What's going to happen soon is:

- Beastmen Breach Windurst Walls

- Garlaige Citadel gets sacked

- Siege of Jeuno

Interesting to note, the Tavnazia thing hasn't happened yet.

Yea, the Windurst NPC's are talking about it, and Windurst Waters is totally fucked up.

Unless you're talking about when the Yagudo march on Heavens Tower and (I forget the Taru's name) wipes them out with Fenrir.

7.862 – The Yagudo army invades Windurst’s capital. They barely manage to repel the attack, and suffer massive damage in the process.

Has happened.

10.862 – Fort Karugo-Narugo is suddenly besieged by a Beastman anti-magic unit.

- The Beastmen army invades the capital.

11.862 – Karaha-Baruha releases the avatar Fenrir and obliterates the Beastmen army from the capital.

- A unit dispatched from the Royal Knights of Sand’Oria arrives at Fort Karugo-Narugo. Together with Windurst they manage to repel the Beastmen forces.

Has not.

also, i think an NPC in bastok refers to the "Elshimo Campaign", and another NPC i cant remember where refers to a joint effort between tav and basty repelling the Gigas in a sea battle

there was a CS or NPC that says that you cant go into Windurst walls because its all broken and flooded... so this did infact happen already...
But yeah Windy does seem like the cooler nation.. i mean they get a Zone-in Cutscene >.> but of course i'd rather stay loyal to my present nation so i picked Lastok

Right, I think they did the massive attack that the Tarutaru BARLEY repelled, but have not stormed heavens tower yet. (Obviously since the Yagudo army hasn't been obliterated yet.)

Looking at ToAU as a lead-in to WotG, which it basically was, looking at the story they chose to tell (Odin, the Demons that are involved with him, his shattered Protocrystal in the North from CoP, the fact that Luzaf and Raogrimm seemed to have made the same sort of deal with the devil so to speak) kind of sheds another light on the situation.

Hope this wasn't already said I am skimming at work.

I am pretty sure that we are the "harbinger" they speak of. We are teh ones that ultimately change the outcome of this war as Cait Sith knows the three nations will lose this war unless some outside force intervenes. Which is where we come in adn why we were asked to aid him in helping the allied forces winthe Crystal War.

Take a look at Elmers history page. Windurst repelled the first attack. The massive attack where Bahura unleashes Fenrir is still gonna happen. Also Tavnazia has not been invaded at this point and (obviously) Garlaige Citadel is still intact. The incident where Sandorian Knights help Windurst to take a stand at Karugo-Narugo is still gonna happen too.

Karaha-Baruha at this point in time is in the Toraimorai Canal, researching summoning magic in the "Animastery" he created there. The representatives of his ministry, the Optistery, refer to him as absent.

Cait Sith mentions that the alliance between the nations is still in its infancy.

No one knows the Shadow Lord yet, but some NPCs, mainly in the army, are noticing that the beastman's attacks are far too strategic to have come up with themselves.

It's been 10 years since the multinational expedition.


Somewhat unrelated note, but Tsahya is mentioned like every other sentence in Windurst's story, and was hinted at a couple times in ToAU. It's probably going to be the focus of the next expansion.

There you go, we're in early Octoberlol 862. Fort Ferric Oxide presumably gets attacked at the end of the month.

Naturally, when they kill us, we drop crystals. We're their only source of crystals since they don't attack other mobs. As such, we're a pretty valuable commodity.

As for how far back we're sent, the various quests and CSs seem to indicate anywhere from 19 to 22 years in the past, but it's not clear exactly how far back we are. So could just go with the average, approximately 21 years.

Somewhat unrelated note, but Tsahya is mentioned like every other sentence in Windurst's story, and was hinted at a couple times in ToAU. It's probably going to be the focus of the next expansion.

Not particularly Tsahya, but more in general Olzhirya is mentioned a lot in the Windy [S] Story. I am beginning to think that Olzhirya is the name of the southern continent and that Tsahya is a nation of that continent. And just to add another little attention to detail, the "Tigress" Mithra from Olzhirya come with Igqira Weskits on. This goes along with the official description of this gear from the Chains of Promathia Official Site that says it comes from the Mithran Homeland.

Why are the turtles guarding Palborough? According to Elmer's timeline, they didn't take the mines until 5 years after the war ended (7 years after WotG time if we assume we're in the 10th month of 862). Is the current day Palborough actually a combination of the Quadav sanctuary and the WotG-era Mines, or is SE retconning some stuff, since we also see the Orcs holding Davoi, which wasn't captured until 875 (unless the city is holed up somewhere behind the Orcish line, but I haven't done San d'Oria's WotG missions yet)
