Canadians are stupid.
I think we need to add [sarcasm][/sarcasm] tags for them.
Im just sensative to the issue because quite a few people in my family have lived because of it. Guess I suck at reading sarcasm when it comes to the issue.
Ditto I suppose. I can't think of any better way than opening up a controversial debate on healthcare to make a Canadian get riled up. The public health system constantly ranks #1 on the list of important political/public issues in polling. However, I really hate that mentality because it causes such political stagnation over modifying the health system; all the MPs or MLAs are scared shitless of getting voted out of office because they want to talk about healthcare at a serious level instead of just "blah blah blah more funding blah blah our system's awesome"Originally Posted by sephir
Oh, and back regarding the OP I was expecting this to be a topic about how Canada's not a sovereign nation just because our constitution sets up Canada as a constitutional monarchy and the title of Queen Elizabeth II, the Canadian head of state, is 'Her Majesty, Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada', or more fully and officially Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom, Canada and Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith. (Bit of a mouthful if you ask me)
the comment certainly didn't sound very sarcastic
should definetly add those /sarcasm tags

They do. It's called lobbying. Lawmakers are most always swayed by such displays in one way or another.Originally Posted by Ryko

This doesn't even include into other costs (medicine and treatment).Well, when you yanks can waltz into any hospital's ER with a case of the sniffles or suffering a heat attack, get treatment, and not pay a cent out of your pocket all without extended medical coverage, then you can start ragging on our healthcare system.
My last visit to the emergency room cost me $75 total.
Mine was free. Granted I work there. My last visit due to an injury was also free though, actually, In a few months it will pay me a few grand.Originally Posted by Khamsin

Perhaps to the non-Canadians, but for us up north your original statement is a pretty common understanding of how Americans view our healthcare policies and how American anti-socialized healthcare advocates attack our system.Originally Posted by Alleya
I pay a whole $20/mo out of my salary and get quick and efficient health care. No waiting in stupid lines while some old dude with a cold goes in ahead of me, etc.
<3 American health care, its treated me well![]()

Be nice, Kuya. I'm sure a few of us read your other threads about Puerto Rico's status and therefore understand at least a little about the issue.
