I'm pulling your gay card Tonko - how have you never read Savage Love? Been reading it in The Onion for 10+ years now - it's gold, and a must-read for anyone looking to broaden their sexual horizons (or just their understanding of sex in all forms).Originally Posted by Tonko

i love how anybody that has this attitude is either brainwashed or religious...
I dont think 20 is necessarily a bad number if youre using protection and both parties are aware of what theyre getting into. Explain how it is..
What the fuck? Sex and video games are nothing alike!Originally Posted by Tonko
No, I haven't heard of birth control. How fucking old are you where you think someone with old-fashioned values is brainwashed? I enjoy sex as much as the next person but I'm all about one partner - if you have to have a variety of partners in order to enjoy sex you're compensating for something or you're just plain fucking nymphomaniacal. You seem like you've been brainwashed by the old-school hippy "do what you want" society where it's okay to insult whoever you want and treat whoever you want like shit for the sake of it.You seem like you've been brainwashed by either ultra conservative society or religion.... fucking just to fuck is what most people do, monogamous or not. Head of birth control?
I don't go to church all the time, but I do consider myself religious, and if being religious makes me feel good about my life and gives it more meaning than someone who just lives to fuck other people then so be it. You want to start attacking me because of my opinion? Take on another sexual partner and go fuck yourself.

I'm not an expert, but I know myself well enough to know I would never be able to do this myself. I do know people who can though. Some people really do not get emotional about sex. The only way there is any emotion involved for them is if the emotion was there already, otherwise it's just a physical act, like a yawn, or cough (it just feels a lot better). While said emotion might add something to the act, it's not necessary, or compelled by the act itselfOriginally Posted by Odon
fixed. Sometimes the expression of affection and intimacy can be more important than the physical sensation (or so I hear), but biology makes men want to do it, not just to do it with one person. Many value systems instruct men to keep this desire under control for various reasons. Although it could be argued that value systems in general are a form of mass brainwashing, that's beyond the scope of this issue. Therefore, promiscuity for a man can be considered merely a lack of inhibitions, while monogamy can be either a personal preferance (if one enjoys having a single partner more than having many) or a conscious decision based on any number of reasons.Originally Posted by Tonko
Women are different, which is why heterosexual open relationships usually don't work for long. Not to try to rerail the thread or anything.

I never said I had to have a variety of partners to enjoy sex, you should try re-reading the thread, nor am I compensating for anything, nor a fucking nymphomaniac (although I do enjoy fucking them.) I'm not brainwashed at all, I simply am able to think for myself, whereas you seem to have bought into what you've been taught wholesale. And I've not insulted anyone, nor treated anyone like shit in this thread. But you have.Originally Posted by kuronosan

So I was right about you being religious. Thanks for confirming that for us. I'm fully aware that not everyone who is religious thinks this way, or acts such as you act, but those that do act in such an overly conservative fashion, generally are religious.Originally Posted by kuronosan

women in successful open relationships enjoy sex possibly more than the men do... and this (ZOMG) is not wrong for them to do so. the reason open relationships have been successful for centuries is because ALL parties involved are working to make it happen, and ALL parties involved feel it is worth it. Why is everyone assuming that women have no brains in this thread?
I'm so glad my gf and I are so crazy about each other still (after multiple years) and pleasure each other so well that we don't even think about straying away from each other for physical pleasure. Even if I somehow found a girl that did it "better" (lol, seriously not possible), a good chunk of the reason I enjoy sexual experiences with her is because I love her so much.
*shrug* I don't get it but whatever floats your boat I guess
That's all most anyone wants, you don't have to understand, or get it, or agree with us. Just don't attack us or prosecute us because we're different.Originally Posted by Demosthenes11

and all this time i thought the majority of the closed-minded nutjobs lived around me in the southeast...apparently they're on BG as well. seriously, why do people get so upset when other people express an opinion that's outside their "normal" parameters? i get a lot of shit for my relationship living in the "bible belt". one of my partners actually got fired from her job when her boss found out about our arrangement. (bad thing about alabama...you don't have to have a reason to fire someone, a leftover old law from segregation) i haven't seen Tonko say once that people who don't think like him are wrong...however you don't have a problem telling him that.
at the end of the day, do whatever makes you happy...just don't be so quick to judge other people on what makes them happy. you say your "religiousness" isn't what makes you closed-minded, it's your "old-fashioned" values...i say your "old-fashioned" values were put in place by people who were so scared of "god" that they made it "bad" to act on their true sexual feelings.
I could discuss Theology of the Body till I'm blue in the face but that's not what I'm going to try and do here. I did read the entire thread before posting and I'm not posting as an attack on anyone.
Now that that's out of the way; to answer a few questions about religious nutjob's in general. The Catholic churches teaches that sex within the confines of marriage (Read Marital Act) should be a glorious expression of love intended to bring the couple closer together and closer to God. No where does that state that sex is bad or intrinsically wrong. There are some religions (read some of the Protestant ones) that view it as a more taboo thing to discuss. Sex is something that is supposed to be a beautiful expression of love contained under the seal of Matrimony (from the Latin promoting one to Motherhood) I'm not naive enough to think that people don't do it. While I don't agree with it because I'm "a religious nutjob" doesn't make it my place to condemn nor persecute people with other beliefs than my own. I don't have to agree with concepts of "Open Relationships" because I just don't see how having sex with multiple people can be a healthy thing if attempting to have a relationship. I would just feel that eventually contempt would come from one side or the other. Granted it might be one of those "don't knock it till you try it kind of things" but alas it is something I won't ever try.
That analogy is so awesome ROFLOriginally Posted by Tonko
no one in this thread said anything remotely similar to this. except there seems to be some people who think that sex can not be a recreational activity. and to that i say LOL.Originally Posted by Demosthenes11

Every post on the topic of religion by you truly makes my view of religion better. If only everyone who was religious expressed themselves like you do; you're articulate, committed to your faith and your ideals without trying to force others to change, and you are knowledgeable about your religion. Very inspirational and impressive.Originally Posted by Saphirea
You know, people who think that women don't enjoy sex and sit around waiting for that one special man to come alone and make them complete really need to watch Maury Povich- there is a "Who's my baby daddy" episode pretty much every other day. And before someone tries to bring up race or socio-economic status as an excuse, go to your local college bar to see the middle to upper-middle class versions of those episodes.
