Anybody notice anything odd about worms?

I've been skilling up on worms for a while now, and I've noticed some odd things... first of all, a few times, they have started casting stoneskin, but never actually end up finishing the cast. It's not lag, as I can actually hurt them after, and they usually recast it. (And just as I write this, it happens with Rasp too, so it's not just stoneskin.)

Second, I lose hate to them now and them, similarly to how wamoura princes seem to deaggro, which I've never seen happen before. It's happening fairly regularly too, so it's not a random occurence.

Third, and this one's the weirdest one to me - flesh eaters in Attohwa apparently build resistance to silence. It keeps on lasting shorter and shorter, until they outright start resisting, or it wears as soon as it lands. I never heard of worms building resistance to silence, nor did I never notice it myself in the past.

So um... is any of this normal (except the first thing... obviously a glitch), and I've just completely missed it, or is this something they changed recently?

I've seen worms lose aggro plenty of times before- they seem to have some trouble tracking people at long ranges and will go yellow as a result.

Worms not finishing Stoneskin is a mite weird, though. Unless it's something in worm AI that makes them self-interrupt.

Well, I wasn't exactly far away, close enough to be in reach of all of their TP moves, even the shorter range ones, like sandspin and tremors, so it's not a distance issue.

if you were hitting them you probably just interupted their stoneskin cast? They are pretty easy to interupt.

I've never soloed worms per say, but I skilled up a lot of levels of throwing on them (lol), and have come to prefer them when testing MDB/mdef questions. I have frequently encountered the midcast deaggro you describe, but almost exclusively when they cast Quake. Perhaps whatever causes that has been changed to allow shorter cast spells to cause the same issue? I don't know.

Whoops, I should have mentioned that I was skilling up throwing, which can't interrupt casting. I never saw the "Soandso's casting is interrupted" either, and instead of the cast timer resetting as it usually would upon being interrupted, it would try casting again a few seconds after it would normally have finished the first casting.

I'm just curious, but is this something that's been happening for a while or is it only recently? There have been all kinds of problems in the last few weeks so it may have something to do with that.

Naw, worms have deagroed like that for a long time. The reason they sort of "cancel" stoneskin is that they deagro mid-cast. They won't go white for a bit after deagro, so you may well have just reclaimed them. You can tell because often times monsters turn around when they deagro. Watch for it next time you're killing Princes. And yeah, if you keep a reasonable distance between yourself and any monster (say, out of attack/WS range), it deagros fairly quickly.

    I don't think anyone really knows what causes things to build resistance. Some people swear that Bind doesn't build resistance, some people swear they've been MPKed by someone Chainspell Binding/Gravitying/Sleeping their monster so they couldn't stick them when they reclaimed. It could be that they're just building resistance. <,<;

Now, what really would be weird is to try and kite a worm.
    And succeed!

If they deaggroed midcast, they wouldn't start casting straight away again without me doing anything them... something is definitely not working right with them.

As for the resistance buld-up, it seems to be specific to the ones in Attohwa, I haven't noticed it happening anywhere else... yet, at any rate.

There was a patch a while back that broke worms, it was hilarious seeing worms run around chasing people, then they did an emergency maintenance.

I may be cinical but for some reason i remember when the game was first released, if you moved to far away from a worm they would go underground and pop up next to you.

I think I was starting on either THF or RNG at the time, because I had a Qufim party where I actually went out and "pulled" worms for an XP pt for couple hours before maintenance, It was hilarious.
