Warning** Check your cell phone bills.

I just recently signed up with Sprint for my cell phone provider and was shocked when I was looking over my itemized bill. I have a plan that allows me free nights (starting at 6pm) and weekends, along with 450 anytime mins.

I made a phone call at 5:48pm that lasted a few hours (you know talkin to your girlfriend and what not) anyways I had used up almost all my 450 anytime mins by that time (not that I was keeping track). I checked my itemized phone bill due to it was a little higher than I thought it should be and there it was!! At 5:48 since I ran out of anytime mins, Sprints billing system just decided to keep charging me past the 6pm (supposedly free time) and I ended up being charged 160 mins for $70! At most if my anytime mins had run out I should have only been charged for 12 mins tops.

I called Sprint to find out what was going on and inform them of the billing error. They agreed that they would take off the charges. I asked is this something that normally happens, and the rep said yes! I WAS SHOCKED! he went on to say it was like this with all wireless companies and their billing. I said, so if I had not checked my bill I would have been screwed out of the money then? To which his only reply was that it was very important to check your bills so this doesn’t happen. I told him that he may want to have his company look into this error due to it could be cheating all of their customers who DONT check their bills out of money. He just said that’s the way it is with all cell companies.

Anyways, please make sure you check your Cell phone bills if you do not have unlimited time and only have a certain amount of mins each month or you could be paying more than you should.

Dude, you didn't know this? If you start a phonecall during peak hours and it extends into "unlimited minutes", you're supposed to hang up and call back, otherwise they will keep charging you peak minutes. They nab a SHITLOAD of people on this. It's how they make alot of money.

Yeah, it's a bug in the system that nobody's been able to fix as of yet.

sounds like more of a 'feature' to them haha

Really now, not getting screwed on this and other contracts like it comes down to reading T&C, asking questions and common sense.

It's not a bug. I wrote a program that simulated this very thing 9 years ago in college. They CHOOSE not to fix this because it makes them money.

What he said. "Nobody's been able to fix it" really means "nobody wants to fix it".

of course they wouldn't wanna fix it lol the number of people that are either to lazy to stupid or a combination of both to call and report billing issues like this is enormous and the phone companies just reap the profits as a result

I have the same 450 min plan. I had a problem where they forgot to add the unlimited roaming. Then at the end of the month I had a $150 roaming fees. Also one time they tried to charge me for internet use, it was like $15 for .5mb. I never use the internet on my phone because I know how that shit costs a lot of money. Both times they wiped the fee from my bill. It seems if you call and explain the situation to them they will take your side and reverse the fees. Just don't do automatic billing or you will be boned.

at least you actually made the call lol

i had a friend who sprint sent a $500 bill too. he came to me and asked me what it was seeing how he was originally from the Ukraine. so i brought him to the sprint store in the maul, he flashed them the bill and they asked him,

Them: "Yep, this is a bill. What seems to be the question you have for us today?"
Him: "(insert accent)How do i have a bill, when ive never owned a cell phone in my life"
Them: "Ohhh umm that i have no idea of, we'll take care of that for ya"

it got dropped but sprint is just a bag of NO.
