sorry for new topic, but searching dark knight brings up a whole mess of things
this has been known for at least 6 months. and has been in at least 1 topic so far so its old.
i knew it was known, but i thought it was a new picture, my bad.
Damn he looks terrible. Maybe the next time they put the Joker in a Batman movie they will make him an overweight Nun since they seem to enjoy getting the character completely wrong.
Though I sorta agree, I think it's a good take on him. I'm sick of the glittery shiney hollywoodized versions of villians lately. I want what a real villian would look like in this world. One that's too obsessed with his insanity and maniacal plots to care about what his costume looks like. Though Heath Ledger may not be the best actor to portray him, just about anyone could pull it off if they had the right make-up. I do believe they chose Ledger because of his mouth, Joker is all about his smile, and I think Heath has the right face shape.
What exactly don't you like about him Sept? I'm curious. Really have to see him in action until I can thoroughly judge.
I kind of like the look. Its a very gritty, dirty appearance, like he just got done stabbing a few people and doesn't even care if he got messy in the process. It goes along well with the overall style of Batman Begins.
The whole point of the Joker is that his appearance belies his insanity. The Joker is supposed to look like a harmless, fun-loving clown that a kid wouldn't be afraid to get a balloon animal from. (Sadly, said balloon animal would be filled with cyanide gas...)Originally Posted by Lockecole
I think the best quote about the Joker was by the Trickster in Underworld Unleashed: "When villains want to scare each other, we tell Joker stories." he only reason he can get away with it so well is that he doesn't look like a frightening freak.
qft the Joker is so insane he does care about his appearance, he's so insane you don't even know he's off his rocker.Originally Posted by Septimus

I think as far as the look of the Dark Knight film franchise this joker fits in. The joker as a character is more defined by his actions then whatever pastel suit he's wearing. I'll wait till the movies comes out before I shit on Heath Ledger.
My final judgement will be decided after I hear his laugh. If he doesn't have a good evil laugh then he will suck.
go find the teaser trailer, it's in thereOriginally Posted by Rigor

Yeah not bad, not bad at all. Now I just hope they can pull off the same dark atmosphere of Begins.
P.S. FUCK Superman
i only see the next movie getting grittier, i think it'll be really good.
and man the end of that laugh where it goes up and cracks...gives me a chill, damn lol.
Well, that's the second-best Joker laugh I've ever heard. And considering that Heath Ledger's lead-up to playing the Joker involved him reading The Killing Joke, I think he'll be fucking great.
Batman Begins was my favorite Batman ever so I will let them do w/e they want with the movie. I thought the movie was going to suck because the batmobile wasn't in it but they made it clutch with the new one. Basically, I think the breaking away from the norm is cool.
The only problem I have with this Joker is his makeup. As in... he's wearing makeup... why is the Joker wearing makeup? I hope at some point he gets acid-ed... would make sense as he apparently uses the stuff on Harvey Dent.
I think they're going for a dash of lolrealism in the movies, such as the design for the costume and how he got the batmobile, etc. If I'm not mistaken no type of acid will make you look like the joker.Originally Posted by BRP
this seems alright to me, as long as they don't pull a megatron.
Realism need not apply. I have yet to hear of a billionaire whose reaction to his parents being shot involves dressing up in a bat costume and swinging around a city on grappling hooks.Originally Posted by Remy0
If I want realism, well, I won't go to a movie.
