Because being a mummy and being half regenerated or having half your face burnt off and being able to talk/move within a day is completely realistic.

As realistic as a guy dressed up in bat suit fighting crime with an old man in his 70s as a sidekick?

I see. I guess that could be true, but I was going by Batman saying that "the Joker had won" by making him break his one rules, hence why he is making Gordon turn him into a vigilante and hunting him like another criminial because he had killed Dent.

Guess it's all in how you view the scene, I'll be more then happy if Aaron comes back for the sequal, just gives me a vibe of not happening.

What I meant was he didn't look real. Batman was good, it didn't overdo the CGI and most of it looked realistic, except Two Face's face. Yeh, Batman isn't completly realistic in the sense that it could actually happen. Very few action movies are. But judging by the rest of the movie, I'm pretty sure they were trying to make Two Face look quite real.

I thought they said the Joker won cause he turned a perfectly sane man fighting for justice into the opposite. which is why I think batman said "we can't let the joker win". maybe wrong on that though.

I perceived Batman's comment as referring to the fact that he used the cell phones of millions of civilians--essentially violating their privacy for the sake of security--to find the Joker. I took that as being the rule the Joker forced him to break.

You'd think that kidnapping the guy who went back to china might have been a violation of privacy.

Or any time where he kidnaps a villain.

"CHUD.com offers a fascinating bit of insider info on how Aaron Eckhart's Two-Face character will be depicted in 'The Dark Knight'.

Forget Tommy Lee Jones's one-note butchering of the character in Batman Forever, Christopher Nolan is experimenting with a fascinatingly schizophrenic depiction of Two-Face that will blend sane and insane line readings from Eckhart. Basically, Nolan shot complementary takes of Eckhart in Two-Face makeup so he could visually represent the duality of Dent in a less cartoony fashion. What Nolan's doing doesn't sound all that far removed from the Gollum/Smeagol model, though the obvious difference here is that Dent isn't motion-capture; he's a fifty-fifty split of the same actor giving two wildly divergent performances in the same shot. And because he has two takes of each scene, Nolan has the luxury of shaping Eckhart's performance in post; it's just a matter of switching the dial between normal Harvey and bug-fuck Two-Face. Again, both will be present in the shot, but only one will dominate the poor bastard's conflicted consciousness at any given moment. The technical audacity required in pulling this off may be the reason Two-Face was held back in the trailer."

no you're right. it's basically "The Killing Joke", where joker says any given person that has a really bad day would become just like him. and by really bad day it's the murder or torture of a loved one or something similar.

Joker seemed a little more interested in how Gotham would react to Havery Dent's fall from grace. I believe that is what they meant when they said they couldn't let Joker win. So they didn't tell the truth.

Glad to hear that other movie goers had a bad audio experience with this movie. I couldn't hear roughly 25% of the lines delivered.

I hope they re-mix the audio for the BluRay cut.

When I saw it the sound was extremly loud. I managed to pick up pretty much every line. I remember my mate saying to me after that they would have had to have the sound up that high so you could actually hear the actors talk, which was true. The explosions and gunfire nearly deafened me though.

I had no problem whatsoever hearing it in my theater (non-IMAX), and I'm pretty sensitive to things like that.

I really enjoyed this film, I liked Aaron Eckhart's performance, but we don't see him when he used to work in internal affairs (when he was nicknamed Two-Face) and we don't see much politician-based duplicity from him at all. He is gotham's golden boy and only the scene where he's playing false russian roulette with the schizophrenic underling dude do we see much of a dark side to him at all. He spends so little time post-injury that the two sides of his new personality don't really get much of a chance to differentiate themselves. He's just legitimately super jaded about what has happened and can't keep it all together. He's not even having much of a moral quandary when he's about to execute Gordon's son (a moment that really could've brought out more of a two-face personality split). Sure it's played close to the vest, but given how little time he spends as the villain you'd think they would've done...a little more with that scene.

I saw normal showing and IMAX. Normal sounded a bit off at points, IMAX was perfect.

Saw it twice. First time sound was perfect. Second time I said out loud "Does anyone else think the sound is fucked up" and people agreed. We couldn't understand a large quantity of the lines.

    Haha nice.

Thanks for posting that press release quote archibald, it was really interesting. Nolan certainly took an interesting idea behind directing Eckhart that really got to the core of Two-Face as a complete split-personality character.

Just got back from seeing it the 3rd time, this time in IMAX... Wow, that was absolutely terrible in IMAX. Sound was so loud, could barely hear certain dialogue. Bad experience.
