There's lots of factors to consider when comparing movies by their box office take though.

Obviously, different eras. Bootlegging, DVD, inflation, etc.

Isn't Gone With The Wind the highest grossing movie in history when adjusted for inflation (and has sold the most tickets, period)?

With all the hullabaloo surrounding who will be the featured villain (or villains) in the inevitable “Batman Begins 3″, and who will be playing them (really? Cher as Catwoman? Man, someone was on crack that day), it’s easy to forget about Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face, who joined the Joker in menacing Gotham City in “The Dark Knight”. So what’s the deal with Two-Face? Well, if I told you that, I would be REVEALING the ending of “The Dark Knight”, so if you haven’t seen the movie yet, I would suggest leaving now.

Okay, so you’re still here…

There seems to be an issue about Harvey Dent’s fate at the end of “The Dark Knight”. Did he or didn’t he die? This is a comic book movie, after all, and death isn’t always guaranteed. And if he didn’t die, is he destined to return in “Batman Begins 3″?

Aaron Eckhart didn’t even let me finish my question about the controversy that has been rippling through the Batfan community the last couple of months, about whether or not Harvey Dent might be back for Batman 3. It’s completely official: Two Face is dead.

He admitted that he had asked Christopher Nolan the same thing when making the film, and the response was the same: “I asked Chris if there was a chance of coming back. ‘No way,’ he said. ‘He’s toast.’”

Too bad.

Dunno how a third film would work unless Joker is recast (which would be tantamount to a crime against humanity). Begins and DRK had a very good transition both thematically and literally (like Scarecrow/the Batpod/etc). It felt like the same world and that the characters had grown naturally in the gap of time between the two movies.

I don't see that happening in a third film. Goyer says he has a 'theme' in mind though. Only one I can think of would be redemption (and in worst case scenario - redundancy).

Well, it hasn't even been confirmed for a third one, Nolan hasn't agreed to doing it as of yet. Honestly, if they get a different director to do a third one, it wouldn't be as good as if Nolan had done it.
