Fun with the chat filter

Redskin is filtered by the laungage filter. (as in, the football team who just lost the guy) Gook, spic, anything with hypens are not. This was discovered as someone was trying to figure out why the ?????? kept coming up about someone who was dead.

Also, Indian filters on some PC's but not others.

I know anyone here probably turns that thing off by default, i'm just wondering if any other words have made people go 'wtf' when they see them filtered.

My favorite was how PSO censored "Maricas" WHICH WAS THE NAME OF A MAG THAT SEGA PUT IN THE GAME because it means something in Spanish that they didn't approve of, even though they named it. So you were allowed to walk around with a Mag called "Maricas" in your inventory but you couldn't talk about by name. How retarded is that?

Actually yeah, I never knew about "minge" until someone in an old LS said it as a part of a combination of words or a typo intended to be something else or something and somebody else said it was filtered.

I had that same filter catch me about a year ago, but it was for using the words 'in jungles' when I was attempting to convince LS mates to join me in Yuhtunga for exp. A couple of people still had their filters on and were very confused about what "?? ???gles" meant. This resulted in a good half hour of 'testing' the filter with all sorts of dirty phrases.

best word i've ever seen censored by the chat filter has GOT to be "nigloo." an LS member was trying to say "an igloo" and misplaced the space iirc, resulting in "a ??????." there was much laughter when we figured out what he was trying to say.

Also, I have a friend in-game named Woga. I think wog is an antiquated racist term.

I couldn't figure out why I was being filtered when talking about something one of my servers can't do. It blocked part of the phrase "server can't" a few years ago.
