it all really depends on how i progress in the next year. i'm 27, so i'm not in a huge rush to turn pro just yet. i'm hoping to turn pro within the next year and a half to two years. i don't want to jump pro without enough experience and training just to become someone's punching bag on a bigger stage. we've all seen guys who're brought in just to make the "stars" look good...i want to make sure i'm completely ready before i jump up.

I always considered that Chuck vs Wanderlei was the main event. Maybe it's just cause we've been waiting for it to happen for so long. I just hope it lives up to what it should be, a brutal street fight.

I think GSP will be much more dangerous after losing a fight he probably shouldn't have. I also don't think Hughes can take the rubber match cause as he said of tuf that hes nearing the end of his career. I don't know their background in jiu-jitsu, but they have both proved they are dominate wrestlers, so the ground fight could be anything other than some lay and pray.

I'm going to say...
GSP over Hughes by sub in the 3rd.

i was the guy getting the triangle put on him, start of the fight isn't on there, but he came out with a flying knee, i caught him in a good slam...then he went for the triangle. i slammed him 3 or 4 times before finally getting out of the triangle, and left my arm posted (yeah...very dumb) and he took advantage of it and transitioned into a perfect armbar. it was an amateur fight, so elbows weren't allowed, which screwed my gameplan a little bit.

i have a few people i train with personally, there aren't many gyms around here that are worth the money in my opinion. there's a group of about 5 of us that help train each other. i'm still training now, looking for fights when i can get them.

it was a middleweight fight, i'm normally a welterweight fighter, but that fight was all the promoter had, so i took it. it was just a matter of wanting to fight, no matter what. i'm actually trying to drop to lightweight at the moment. haven't fought that low before, so i'm trying to gauge how i'll feel and if it's worth it. i walk around about 180-185 right now...so trying to drop 15 to 20 lbs before my water weight cut is kinda rough.

I live between Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, I'm going to check out the price at Spartan Fitness because they have an intro MMA program and if I still like it and I turn out to be decent at it then I'll try there "team". they have a couple guys that are pro one I think holds the bantamweight belt for w/e league. first thing on the list is to cut the weight I gained from being laid up in a motorcycle accident.

i've heard good things about spartan, wish i lived close enough to train there. only gym near me with any real rep is straight blast...and i've heard mixed things about them and their fighters. i have been discussing moving to birmingham lately though, so maybe i'll be able to check them out first hand.

they seem like they're a well rounded group, teaching wrestling, BJJ, muay thai and standard boxing. which is what I'm looking for just hoping the price isn't way too much.

by the way...just read an interesting quote from Paulo Filho about training Chuck Liddell for his upcoming fight with Wanderlei Silva: "I would never train an American to fight against a Brazilian. I am not a slut or a prostitute." i'm not sure what chuck was thinking inviting him over to train, i know that paulo and wanderlei have had problems in the past...but no brazilian is going to help an american train to fight a countryman.

It seems like that comment Filho made was more of a shot at Wand then it was at Chuck. Filho trains with Gonzaga at a gym in the US (name and location escape me atm), and I believe he was training with Gonzaga for the Couture fight. Wand trains at Xtreme Couture on and off atm it seems and was there when Randy was training for the Gonzaga fight. If he wants to talk big like that though, he ought to get the fuck out of his american gym and go train in Brazil, cause that's a stupid comment to make on his part.
